Chereads / The Duke of Whishipper / Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Will (3)

Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Will (3)

Mr. Dorben began speaking in a practical calm voice.

"The shape is the same known crest of the Whishipper household that you can find anywhere in the dukedom. I would need a magnifying glass to verify the badge's details more closely, Ms. June."

June flinched at the call of her name. Her face showed slight panic for a second but when she received the lawyer's calm look that was saying 'get a hold of yourself'. Receiving such a gaze, June nodded in understanding.

Ms. June ordered a maid to bring the magnifying glass.

In the meantime, Larck was observing something odd. He noticed it since a moment ago by observing the black haired young man with the creepy aura.

Although the yellowish green eyes gave everyone the chills with what seemed as straight stares, they were roaming the hall searching for someone.

And soon they found their prey. Larck could tell that the black haired youth have stopped at looking only to glance at once place.

Following at the direction the piercing eyes, Larck was surprised and blanked twice. He barely managed to snap himself back to reality to notice the approaching maid.

The maid handed Larck the magnifying glass. The only Dorben lawyer that knew the real Whishipper items began observing.

However, to everyone's surprise he barely took a look before backing with mild shock.

Larck nodded slightly and said with clear and genuine disbelief.

"It's real."

Rivan smiled and reached for the badge. His voice was calm as if what Larck said was the obvious.

"You are a real Dorben."

Larck gulped at the approving words. He felt as if he was the one being tested. That thought made him remember he just confirmed that this young man is the real heir of the Duke's position. He is a real Whishipper.

"What?!"

One of the attendance broke the growing silence born from the disbelief of every hearing ear. She spoke with a loud shout.

"Are you sure that thing is real?! How can you be so sure?!"

Ms. Dorben sighed openly with contempt all over his face. This filthy vulture is questioning his words. No words can describe how much he hated them.

He started speaking in a mechanical voice.

"I can't possibly tell you what's the secret of the Whishippers, that's rediculous. However, I can say one thing. This item is the only that can make his majesty, the king disown each one here of their position."

The stern and confident words of this trustful lawyer made them speechless. There was no hesitation in his voice and they couldn't deny a thing.

Not until someone spoke with despair for a final chance.

"H-however, despite the item being real he might be an imposter who stole-"

"You shut your mouth!"

The man was cut by a loud shout that took him back by shock. His eyes were wide and his mouth opened a bit, as the women to speak and shut him up was the same that started the argument earlier.

"Ms. Asura!"

"I said you shut your mouth!"

The man was again greatly shocked but choose to join his lips together and clench his fists. The brave women from earlier became pale and her eyes showed how horrified she was. That sight was enough to know there was a reason why she stopped him from saying more.

Asura spoke with a trembling voice.

"If that Whishipper badge is real, then the one to have it must be as well."

Rivan's smile got colder as he looked at Asura. He paid more attention to what she was saying and so did the others.

Her voice cracked the more with every uttered word.

"He shouldn't be real but he is...because that badge was buried with the last heir of the Whishippers."

The guests were trying to accommodate what they just heard. It was unbelievable. More like rediculous.

The last heir of the Whishippers was a dead 4 years old child. Lady Rina went on a breakdown due to his loss. Yet they had to believe that same child is alive and is standing before them.

As they connected the points and came to the last conclusion, the attendants swallowed their protests and backed with horrified minds.

Ms. Asura mumbled.

"He's a real walking corpse..."

"Haha."

Rivan, who has been quiet all the previous time, let out a slight chuckle and said delightfully.

"I see that you remember my funeral, mother's cousin. Or should I call you aunt Asura like I used to?"

Asura kept avoiding his gaze as she felt the cold dark aura clenching her breaths.

The corner of Rivan's lips twitched as he said with amusement.

"The Whishipper crest is always with the real Duke. Whether it was in a grave or a funeral. Aunts and uncles! I have returned~"

A look of panic and frighteness was painted all over the guests' faces. They wanted to step back from him and exit the same hall they stand on with him. This young man was a the dead child who came from his grave with a prove to it.

Rivan turned his head to Ms. June. He observed her for a bit before heading to another direction.

'Rina, what have you done?!'

Did June thought to herself with a racing heart. She was looking at the black haired young man with a calmer mind now. It could be said that her panic and fright have turned into despair. After all, she knew more of the truth than anyone else here.

On the other hand, Larck found it hard to believe that this teenager is a revived corpse but most likely that he never died to begin with.
