This is so messy right now...she still hasn't fallen for me. Is this karma for trying to make a seven year old fall in love? I'll be honest, I understand I'm a bastard.
I want to change. I NEED to change myself.
I just can't right now. Why? The damn system. However, I know complaining won't get me anywhere. I just need to keep my head down and follow the rules.
Well, if you could call them rules. More like threats.
Even with my attempts to forget about this quest, I still can't sleep properly. So, after around 5 hours of lying in bed, I finally fall asleep...only to be woken up an hour later.
Ji-woo, ever the enthusiastic girl, jumped onto my stomach to wake me up.
Contrary to popular belief, this isn't a good way to wake up. It isn't good at all. Especially when you are a guy...who just woke up...after not peeing for a couple hours...
I think you know where this is going.
Luckily, she landed on my stomach and not my crotch. That means my little brother will still stand tall as a ruler and not be a 90° protractor.
"Min-chul! It's morning! It's morning!"
'...is this really the same girl who was a blushing, stuttering mess the day before?'
"Nnnmmmhhh...murnin'..."
Still feeling q bit sleepy and cranky from my barely hour long sleep, I rub my eyes and start stretching.
I make sure not to push her off so she will go off my herself. Instead, I start twisting and turning my body, making it as uncomfortable for her as possible.
She jumps off of me and sits like a frog while looking at me.
I stretch one more time before getting out of bed. I make sure to relieve myself in the bathroom and then go downstairs for breakfast.
Surprisingly, it's a humble one; egg sandwich with some sugar.
I finish it quickly and change into my school uniform that mom brought over. Obviously, after showering and fixing the bed head.
We arrive just on time for class and sadly, we chose the wrong day to have a sleepover.
"Alright class, I assume you all had time to review the past lesson on multiplication and division?"
""Nooo~""
Well, it doesn't matter because we will have this pop-up quiz either way. Go on, go on. Pass it behind you. Remember, no peeking, no cheating, no talking!"
As the teacher hands us the paper, I nonchalantly pass it to Ji-woo who is right beside me and So-young, on my other side.
After the makeup incident, she wasn't too annoyed at me hanging out with Ji-woo, but if she found out that I slept at her house, she might just blow Ji-woo up.
After skimming over the paper for a few seconds, I class this as "no-need to study" test. What that means is pretty self explanatory.
It's too easy for me that I don't need to even review. It's just division and multiplication and a bonus question about basic PEMDAS which we should learn next year.
"Ahhh, when did we learn this?"
"Teacher! Ahem ahem, I think I have a cough! Uuuughhh, yeah, my throat is very sore!"
"Teacher, I sincerely apologize, but it seems that my 5th uncle's cousin's mutual friend 's ex-girlfriend has past away. May I attend their funeral right now?
Hearing the excuses, the teacher shakes her head while wryly smiling. Her students didn't study at all? Well, she can only revert back to the threat- I mean excuse on why they need to take the test.
"Fine fine...but I will have to report this is Mrs. Park"
All of the students who made up excuses all recoiled in their seats. Mrs. Park, or better known as Tyrant Park is So-young's mom and a very strict teacher.
She also happens to be our homeroom teacher.
"Oh look! Hi Mrs. Park!"
""GAAAHHHH!!!""
"Just kidding~"
"Guh!...that's dirty, teacher"
"Waaa, seems my throat is back to normal; what a miracle!"
"Huh? Oh, I just got word that my 5th uncle's cousin's mutual friend's ex-girlfriend has revived. Bless the Buddha above"
The teacher doesn't know whether to laugh or cry. They are going to do the test, but it was at the cost Mrs. Park's dignity and reputation. What a rambunctious class she was assigned.
"These little...haaahhh, alright then, put your names down, your class and your teacher then you may start. You have the entire period to finish this"
The test was three pages long and as usual, I absolutely wreck it in barely 20 minutes. The teacher is a bit suspicious with my quick times, but there is no evidence of cheating.
How do you find out I'm a returnee from the future?
Leaving the classroom, I sit at my usual table with Ji-woo, Young-jae, So-young and the others. As Young-jae and Mi-cha are both acting lovey-dovey...well, according to a seven year old's brain.
They regularly feed each other with great difficultly and like to hold hands while eating...eating with great difficultly.
Meanwhile, I'm over here feeding Ji-woo and So-young at the same time. It's a hard knock life having two girls who like you.
...haahhh.
I move closer to Ji-woo and she starts blushing again, very much unlike her. So-young sees this, but doesn't mind as we will hang out on Thursday this week.
It also happens to be the end of make Ji-woo fall in love quest.
The lunch period soon ends without much happening except one of the popular boys from a grade up farted; he lost some popular points for sure.
Meanwhile, our math teacher was busy grading the pop-up quiz. Being a new teacher and still having her soul, she is full of vigor and teaching drive.
She is able to finish grading our papers by the end of the day.
"Okay my little students, come up here once I call you...soooo~,First row, come up please!"
Once it reaches my row, the 3rd row, I take my paper which had a big, fat 105/100 on it. The extra 5 points was from the bonus PEMDAS question.
"Woah-ho! I got a 92! That's my new game set!"
"Tsk tsk tsk...I'd better start packing my bags...I only got an 89...I'll get kicked out"
"Haahhh?!?! Aren't you seven?!?!"
As I toss my test into my backpack to show to mom once I get home, I look over in curiousity at my classmate's scores. Most of them are very regular ranging from 80-92 with some of the smarter kids getting 96 and 97.
"Whatcha get?"
"EEEKKK! Wait! Don't!"
I lean over Ji-woo, surprising her. I snatch her paper and feel immediate guilt and pity. As if I walked in on her changing or accidentally jokes about a dead relative.
"...d-d-did you see?"
"...yes"
I recall the number I saw...is that even possible? She got a single digit number in the test.
On the bright side however, it was the largest single digit number: 9.
She looks at me with a betrayed expression and some teardrops in her eyes. If I don't do anything quickly,s he might cry and this will make her not like me temporarily.
Yes, our relationship would be restored, but I don't have time to waste. I need t act quickly.
"Hey, Ji-woo...wanna study with me? I won't tell your mom"
"!!!.....you'll do that for me?"
She looks at me like I offered her a winning lottery ticket. Her eyes were speaking from her anticipation and not her tears.
"Uhuh uhuh! Obviously! It's becuase I like you..."
I say "like" since it's easily misinterpreted. Simple wordplay.
"!!!!!...th-then, I'll bother you"
To cap this entire thing off, I move my chair closer to her and start rubbing her head with my hand, comforting her. She unconsciously leans closer to me and almost groans in delight.
"Alright! Have a wonderful day and...Ji-woo, do you mind talking to me for a bit? It's about your admission into this school"
As a good teacher, she hides Ji-woo's bad grades from her classmates so that she won't be too embarrassed. A very good teacher indeed.
As my classmates leave the school, it's only me left. Ji-woo enters the class looking downtrodden after her talking with the teacher.
"Hey...don't worry! I'll help you out, okay?"
"Umm, uhuh! Thank you again, Min-chul"
She tells her driver and mom that she is staying at my house for a while to study together and I leave her to go to swimming practice.
Since I won the last friendly competition, I used my 20 minute early prize today and left at 2:40 p.m so I can focus on Ji-woo.
While walking home, I start thinking about how much fitter I am at this age. I'm only seven but I'm already at the height of a 10 or 11 year old while still being slightly muscular.
Well, time flies when having fun and I arrive home in no time at all, being greeted by an enthusiastic Ji-woo.
As promised, I taught her everything there is to know about math and I learned of her make-up test on Wednesday...hahaha, how convenient, no?
I'll bet some readers will be pissed.
She leaves after a one hour study session with some teasing and light seven year old flirting. Feeling satisfied, I start watching TV to escape from my reality.
'.....ahhh, when will it come?'
(Ji-woo POV)
Everytime, it's like this. Whenever I need help or I want to do something, he is always there to play or help me.
He even helped me study for math, my worst subject and somehow, he was able to make it 100 times easier than in school.
...do I like him? Does he like me? Well, didn't he say he liked me before?
...well, I guess I do see him as more than a friend already.
I'm stupid for thinking this, but I can't stop wanting to be around him. Sister was right, again.
...I like him.
