Chapter 2 - Chapter Four

Since the night I had that dream with the faceless guy I couldn't stop thinking about who he was. I know I should just forget about that crazy dream but it just felt too real. We were sleeping in the same bed so maybe he was my lover. Was he someone I am about to meet? Or have I already met him?

Actually, I've been keen around Logan these past few days. I might be crazy but there is a possibility that he was the guy in the dream. I couldn't oversee the fact that he is the only guy I'm currently close with, not in a romantic way that is. And we do live in the same house now, and sleep in the same room too.

My heart would skip a beat every time my eyes meet Logan's. I would even flinch whenever his skin touched mine. God, I would've avoided him if the house was big enough for me to hide from him.

Speaking of Logan, I bugged him over and over about Wraindel and the reason why he was trying to bring me back in there but he just kept on either changing the topic or shutting the hell up. So I gave up in the end. I figured he'd open up and tell me someday when he would think it was time to. He has to, or else he would never convince me, not even in the slightest possibility.

My life hadn't changed that much since the day Logan showed up. Aside from some awkward moments with Logan, cooking extra meals and him cleaning and tiding the house every two days , everything else was normal.

As a matter of fact, I'm in school right now. Forty minutes have passed since our social science professor started yapping about his old school and how his students there were much easier to teach, compared to us.

My class was being a pain in the ass, I get that. But that didn't justify him to take the whole period talking about shit that could've been understood in just fifteen minutes or even less. He's a fucking professor and has a fucking lesson to teach.

I could have punched his face earlier until it would look like a piece of dog's shit if it weren't for the paper I was holding right now, that's torn into tiny bits.

The bell finally rang ending the stupid class. It didn't take me a second to grab my backpack and get the hell out of the classroom.

"Hey pen girl." Damien automatically called me when our eyes met. He tapped the shoulder of the guy he talked earlier with and waved goodbye then he began to walk towards me.

I rolled my eyes. Pen girl?! He seriously never failed to get on my nerves. He's a typical ass.

Damien stopped a few steps away in front of me but I just walked passed him.

I couldn't take my fifth step when I felt someone tug my backpack from behind.

I looked back at the jerk and raised an eyebrow at him. "What do you think are you doing?"

Damien in return smiled innocently at me then grabbed my hand. "Let's have lunch together."

What the fuck? I tried to pull my hand away but his grip tightened.

"Are you crushing on me?" I asked bluntly.

Damien halted and turned his heel to face me. My eyebrows met as he stepped closer invading too much of my personal space. He lifted my chin gently as he leaned his face closer to mine and glanced at my lips before he looked me up in the eyes. His dark chocolate eyes were looking at me intently. If I have to be honest, Damien's an attractive guy. His eyes were perfect for his dark hair and slightly brownish complexion. I myself would've felt attraction towards him if it weren't for his annoying attitude.

"I don't see a reason why I'm not."

My heart skipped at his closeness and his words that caught me off guard. He was literally just a breath apart from me.

"Wha-" I was cut-off by Damien's loud laugh that echoed in the hallway.

"Pfftttt hahahaha, you should have seen your face. You looked like you just saw a ghost." He laughed harder this time while clutching his stomach when he saw my irritated face.

"You son of a bitch!"

That. Was. It.

My blood was boiling in anger.

I kicked Damien hard on his balls and socked his jaw making him fall on the ground and curse in pain.

"Who's laughing now?" I scoffed downed at his loser ass.

"You didn't look like a girl who could throw a punch or two." Damien coughed before he tried to stand and pick up his backpack.

"Great hit by the way, Actel."

I stared at Damien's face in shock.

"What?" He asked in confusion while he walked to me.

"You just called me by my name." I couldn't contain my smile as I nudged him on his side.

"Don't smile. Its making my heart skip a beat."

I looked Damien on the eyes for a hint of playfulness but all I saw was how dead serious he was.

"Uh, lunch time is almost over. We better get to the cafeteria." I smiled awkwardly and started walking faster.

"Tss, wait up." Damien complained as he sprinted to catch up to me.

It was almost dark but I still haven't left school yet. I was researching for my research proposal, so I stayed behind. I couldn't do this back home since I didn't have an internet connection. And besides, I could connect to this school's wifi for free.

I stretched my neck and arms the moment I finished the last paragraph for my proposal.

I checked my wristwatch and was surprised to see that it was already quarter to seven.

Time does fly.

I packed my things up and went out of my classroom.

The hallway was empty and dark, with only two lights left on. I could hear my own breathing and the beating of my own heart.

Bang.

My head snapped to my back, only to find a trash bin on the ground.

That was odd, why would it fall when the wind didn't pass by?

My steps went faster as I felt a pair of eyes watching me.

I looked back again. To my surprise, I saw a shadow growing bigger every second behind me. Then, came a loud roar.

Shit.

I ran. Adrenaline took over my body. I ran as fast as I could with my eyes closed tightly, scared of what else there is left for me to see.

I sighed in relief the second I got out of the school gate. I paused to catch my breath but a second after I was falling to the ground — face first.

I groaned in pain. I rolled to face the sky but I screamed when a cold hand suddenly pulled my left ankle. I was dragged into a dark corner while I kicked countless times, struggling so hard to escape until there was a complete silence. The hand was no longer on my ankle.

Instead of relief, I felt panic seep in to my body. My guts told me that something more was coming.

Fuck. My back hurt, my arms were covered with scratches from all the dragging earlier. I forced myself to stand up and leaned on the wall next to me. My cheap bag was a bit torn, my stuff were scattered all over the place including the laptop I used for my research paper I was working on earlier. But I didn't care, I was in danger.

I raised my head to see a shadow ten meters to my left, creeping towards me. It was getting bigger and bigger as time passed. I hurriedly tried to limp to my right but was brought to a stop when a shadow in form of a man blocked my way.

The shadow was big and tall like a bear with one of its arms in a shape of a sharp sword. Its face was blank with only a pair of red eyes staring straight to mine.

I shut my eyes tightly and screamed as the shadow roared and swinged its sword shaped arm aiming at me. I was anticipating the hit but felt nothing.

1 second. 2 seconds. 3 seconds.

I opened my eyes. My eyebrows met when my eyes landed on the man that was standing in front of me.

Damien Sobel

"Looks like the rumors were true, our sweet princess cannot shift."
