She has fainted. I lift her up and take her to the bedroom and lay her down, raising her feet on some pillows. I get a cool flannel and place it on her forehead.
A few minutes later she opens her gorgeous lilac eyes and focuses them on my face. She looks absolutely terrified. She is pale, her hair stuck with sweat to her forehead, and she is trembling.
She sits up and slides across the bed away from me. I'm not surprised, I did just say I had vowed to punish my fathers mistress for being responsible for my mother's death.
"Jay is your father?! Oh my god! Now I know why I'm here. You're going to throw me off a bridge as punishment for your mother?!" She says, her voice breaking with emotion.
Her chin juts out defiantly, the fear on her face replaced with something else. Anger? No..... pride!
She will not be cowed. She really is brave.
She scoots forward on the bed and stands up infront of me.
"Ok then, let's get to it shall we?" She spits at me. "No point prolonging this, I'm sure you have a busy life to get back to, tours and recording with your group, and your wife must be missing you too. If your going to kill me can you just get on with it, but can I just speak to my kids one last time?" She begs. As she asks this a realisation crosses her features.
"My kids!! Oh no.... you're their half brother!" She whispers.
"Yes, I am their brother. My father told me what happened with your relationship. I was livid when he told me of his affair with you, but I was beyond anger when he told me you had left him and taken the kids just after your daughter was born. A man deserves to have a relationship with his kids. Your kids deserved to know they had a brother, to know their father loved them. Instead you shack up with that vile monster Shaun and raise my siblings in that house of horror!" I rage at her.
She baulks at that accusation, her face frozen into a look of absolute disgust and fury.
"How dare you judge me so harshly" she shouts. "I don't know what your father told you, but it seems it was a pack of lies, because that is not the way I remember things! What else should I expect though, he is a politician after all... they are all full of shit, only interested in themselves" she shakes her head and let's out a short bark of laughter.
It's true, my father, like all the politicians I have ever met are all up to their eyes in scandals and schemes to elevate themselves further. I can't disagree with her on that.
"I presume that when you said I'd never be leaving here it is because I'm going to be discovered dead somewhere soon, is that right? Is that your deal with Shaun? Hmmmm? He gets his big payout and you get revenge, is that it? All works out really well for everyone but me and my kids doesn't it!?" She says flatly.
"Tell me your side of the story" I say...
