Chapter 28 - The Situation with the Vampire

"Damien Drake is a vampire." Marcus said leaning back in his chair. "A Vampire?" Rina said with surprise, she turned to look at Helena. "I thought Vampires were sequestered in Vemos?" Rina asked surprised. Helena shook her head. "Vampires have been roaming the earth for eons." Helena said. "And causing all kinds of trouble." Anton said, as he walked past the kitchen. The bar had long since closed, and the kitchen staff had already left for the night. Elvira had left the way she had come. Quickly with a flash of red heels and long raven hair. Bringing bad news as she went. "Damien has been a good friend of mine, for many years." Marcus said sighing. "Not to mention the fact that he's also my lawyer."

"Is that an actual degree?" Helena asked with raised eyebrows. "Damien was already a bloodsucker, now he gets paid for it as well." Marcus said. He narrowed his eyes looking between Helena and Rina.

"Help me." He demanded. Helena narrowed her eyes at the demand. "You do realize I'm not one of your workers, right?" Helena started.

Marcus raised a hand. "Help me, and I'll owe you a favor, you can collect later." Marcus said pointedly at Helena. He turned to look at Rina, "If you help me, I'll get you an apartment and a job in Alexandria. One of my co-workers read your mind when you were at the dancefloor. I know you are on the run and your pregnant. And I happen to need someone to deal with my apothecary over in Alexandria." Marcus said.

"Deal." Rina said. "Anyways how hard can rounding up some leprechauns be?"

Ten hours later…

"Eighty-five leprechauns?" Rina hissed. "I didn't even know these things existed and now I have to fight off eighty-five of them?" Rina said in a near screech making Helena wince. "What's worse, is they are all sisters." Anton said dryly. "I hate all of you so much." Helena said sighing. "Wait, whose sister's?" Rina said looking at Anton sharply. Anton glanced at Rina in surprise. "Scotty's." Anton said his eyebrows raising with surprise. "That's not surprising. It's common knowledge that Scotty and Damien are BFF's." Chloe said. Rina and Helena turned to look at Chloe, a witch with the supernatural power of a seer. She was the one that had read Rina's mind on the dancefloor and alerted Marcus to the fact that she was on the run. Rina didn't trust her one bit. "How do you get rid of Leprechauns?" She asked looking around, glancing at Helena and Anton.

"Anybody got a pot of gold lying around?" Anton said cheekily. Helena turned to look at him with an aggravated expression. "That is not funny." She said not amused. "Here you guys are." Sensei said, suddenly appearing beside Anton. "Where did you even come from?!" he exclaimed. "Marcus told me where you were, and I came to make sure you don't cause an interracial incident again." Sensei said running a hand down his goatee. "Excuse me?" Anton growled back. Rina ignored Anton and Sensei who promptly started bickering back and forth. She pulled Helena as she slunk away from the trees, to walk around the circle of trees in the clearing to come up behind the huge oak tree where Damien and a short tiny boy were being held. Damien a pale dark-haired teen wearing a black button up and slacks that gave him the appearance of being older than his forever sixteen-year-old self. Rina studied the rope a braided black nylon material that had silver runes all around it. Rina pointed out the ropes to Helena, who shook her head sharply. "Cursed rope." She said quietly. At the sound of her voice Damien stiffened. "Who is talking?" Damien said stiffly barely moving his lips as he spoke. "Marcus sent us." Rina said quietly. Damien scowled. "How did he even find out about this?" He said sighing. "Elvira alerted him to the situation." Helena said.

Damien scoffed. "Alerted him and probably offered no help." Damien said. "That does sound like Elvira." The boy tied up behind him said. "Don't bother touching the ropes. They'll just burn you." The boy said. "I'm Scotty by the way. It's my fault you're out here. My sisters are the cause of this flim-flam." He said. "What did you do to cause eighty-five of your sisters to this pissed off at you both?" Rina asked curiously, peeking at Scotty. He smiled at seeing her face. "I can't seem to recall. It could be that I insulted their fashion sense. Or it could be that I gave them a too honest answer to a question." Scotty mused. "And what did you do?" Helena said peeking at Damien. "I think it has something to do with a double date gone wrong." Damien said.

"YOU THINK?!" One of Scotty's many sisters exclaimed from behind them. Scotty and Damien both looked up and immediately gulped. A curly-haired redhead said. Damien blinked as did Scotty when they realized that Scotty's other eighty-four sisters were now glaring at them both. Rina and Helena glanced at each other from either side of the tree.

"Don't think you can escape Leprechaun justice!" Twenty of the sisters shrieked. "You both have been accused of breaching the highest of insults." Twenty of the other sisters screeched. "WE ARE WOMEN, NOT TOYS FOR YOUR AMUSEMENT." The other forty shouted triumphantly. Damien scowled deeply. "It was one time! Possibly twice." Damien complained. "I don't think your helping your situation." Helena said.

"If there's anything Damien excels at, its making a situation worse." Scotty said shrugging his shoulders. Damien glared at him. Helena scowled. "We were sent here by Marcus of the elemental coven, to save his lawyer. You can do what you want with your brother, but we will be leaving with Damien." Helena said her arms coming up at both her sides the start of black smoke coming out of her palms. One of the sisters, the redhead that had spoke out first, brandished a spear twirling it in her hands. "We do not fear your dark magic!" she shrieked. "Actually, some of us do." A blonde leprechaun said. Scotty's eyes lit up as he noticed her. "Ruby! Please tell your sisters their being ridiculous." Scotty implored.

Ruby scowled. "If you didn't want this to happen you should have known better to piss off this amount of your sisters." Ruby said. She narrowed her eyes at Damien. "And you should really check who your dating before you end up dating twenty sisters at the same time. Including me." Ruby said darkly.

"She's right. You both deserve everything your about to get!" The other leprechaun said grinning widely.

"Paige." Scotty said warningly. "Don't Paige me!" she said scowling. "You cannot use your charm to make us change our minds!" she said. Rina smirked at her words glancing at Helena before she spread her hands out and a coil of red hot fire flashed out of Rina's palms making a tight circle around the eighty-five sisters. "I think I can change your minds." Rina said grinning widely. The sisters all looked at each other aghast as they stepped away from the fire. Then they started shrieking out profanities that all blended together making the Leprechauns resemble the mad humming of a herd of bees. "Well that is mighty impressive." Sensei said, standing up from where he, Chloe and Anton had been hiding. Helena stifled a chuckle. "Now how do we get rid of these ropes." Rina asked. "Why should we tell you anything?" Paige huffed. Rina squeezed one of her hands closed, making the fire flare up, and then inch closer to the leprechauns, making them gasp. "Paige!" Ruby squeaked in fear.

"I believe I asked you a question." Rina said darkly. Paige scowled. "The two of you have no right to be here." Paige said, before she turned around brandishing the spear at Sensei. "And don't think I don't see the three of you! Paige said. She turned back to look at Helena and was immediately tackled to the floor. Rina's eyes went wide with surprise. "Erm." She started uncertainly. "Isn't that Mina?" Rina asked her eyes wide, glancing at Helena. Rina narrowed her eyes at the two girls that were now rolling all over the floor, yanking hair, scratching, clawing, and kicking wherever they could reach. "Marcus thought you could use backup." Darius's velvety voice spoke up from behind them. "Wha—" Helena said startled as Darius pulled her in a tight hug. "I cannot believe you didn't tell me about the wards being open." Darius said scowling. "I was trying not to start an uproar. The last thing anyone needs is for the council to find out that the demons they are banishing can actually go anywhere on earth not just in the dead city." Helena said pushing her brother away from her. "Well the Council is going to have their hands full containing and locating all the portals that have been opened. We found out that the portals aren't exactly closing." Darius said scowling. "What do you mean?" Rina said putting her hands down and lowering the ring of fire, much to the relief of the Leprechauns. Darius smirked, looking at Rina up and down. "The witches' spell was apparently permanent. So now we have open portals all over Vemos." Darius said. He smiled at Rina. "And Hello to you, Princess." Darius said with a devious smile. Rina narrowed her eyes. "You aren't going to tell anyone where I am, are you?" Rina asked her eyebrows going up at his tone.

"Of course, not. By running away, you have declared yourself as a rebel against the Royals. You will never be one of them, ever again." Darius said. "I'm so glad you guys are having a nice reunion." Damien's sly voice said. "NOW FOR THE LOVE OF HERA, SOMEONE GET ME OFF THIS ACCURSED TREE." Damien yelled. Chloe rolled her eyes, walking between Darius and Rina. "You do realize it's the rope that's cursed, not the actual tree." Chloe pointed out. "Who's the pink-haired chick?" Darius side whispered to his sister, ignoring the glare Chloe threw his way as she pushed her hands forward and green smoke attacked the ropes. Scotty let out a girly high-pitched scream, making Damien grimace. "Don't be a baby." Chloe muttered. The Leprechaun's backed away from Paige who had been pulled upright by Mina. "Do you girls always have to cause so much trouble?" she complained, glancing at the other sisters. "This is your last warning. Stop trying to set your brother on fire. He is under the protection of the wolves of War. And Damien is off limits to all of you!" Mina said shoving Paige towards the rest of her sisters. "NOW SCRAM." Mina growled baring her wolf teeth. The Leprechauns all blinked as one and shrunk down to five inches tall, before scampering away in a multi-colored blur. "RUBY." Darius said, his arms crossed. Ruby turned allowing herself to rise up to three feet. "What." She snapped looking at Darius. "Lucifer wants to see you. I've been told to take you back to the school." Darius said solemnly. Ruby's eyes widened. "No! I don't belong there! I belong with my sisters." She said passionately. "It's not up to you."

"What school?" Rina asked looking at Darius. Darius glanced at Rina, crossing his arms as he did. "It's a school for magical children with powers that supersede the norm." Darius said. "Uncontrollable, dangerous magic." Mina explained after giving Darius a dark look. "Lucifer is still the headmaster, then?" Helena asked curiously. "Lucifer is an immortal. I personally think he's incapable of dying." Scotty said crossing his arms. Ruby scowled. "If I have to go, will you come with me?" Ruby said looking at Rina. Rina's eyebrows rose up in surprise. "If you want me to, of course I will." Chloe put one of her arms out. "Whoever is coming out to the Academy, grab on." Chloe said. Rina watched curiously as both Ruby and Darius, held tight to her lower arm. Rina held her forearm as Mina came closer and grabbed her elbow. Helena and Scotty both backed away at the same time. Helena turned to look at Rina. "I'll see you back at the club." Helena said shoving her hands in her pockets. Rina barely nodded when the forest around her disappeared for manicured lawns and an elaborate cobblestone pathway that led to a large rectangular building that had its own towers, and turrets. And what looked suspiciously like its own moat system. "Welcome to the Academy."
