Chapter 5 - Intruders

The people who had made the deal with them were BREAKING it? Aaron couldn't believe it. He thought that he was mistaken but when he looked at Odette, he knew it was true. They were here. And they had broken a truce. Without a warning, Odette stomped on the ground, and a portal opened up, bringing everyone that was either Royal or worked at the castle over to a meadow. It was nighttime wherever the meadow was, so he couldn't really see where it was. Nevertheless, he could make out that it was a green field with purple flowers scattered. Aaron glanced over at Odette, but she had fainted, most likely due to strain on her power. Sighing, he picked her up and layed her down on a patch where the grass was softer and thicker than the rest of the meadow. There were quite a few patches like this, but this was the closest one. However, as soon as he set her down, she jolted awake, sputtering and coughing.

Aaron jumped in surprise. But he propped her up so that she was sitting. He didn't know why he had done it. It was probably his instincts. He was an alpha, Odette was an omega. It was something all alphas had: The instinct to protect an omega. But it couldn't be just any omega, and Aaron blushed at the thought of it. For this instinct to pop in, their inner wolf had to sense that the omega was their. . . mate. Aaron shook away the thought as Odette's coughing ceased. Aaron looked at her with confusion, and she murmured: "Must've overused my power." Aaron hugged her securely, as if he would never let go. Odette realised that his ears were down, so she hugged him back, making him loosen up his grip a bit. However Odette didn't move and kept hugging him. After a while Aaron's ears were fully up, and his tail was wagging. However, when he released Odette, she had fallen asleep. He smiled and kissed his omega's forehead softly, before placing her down on the patch of grass to rest. He turned around to face Alice, who was hiding behind a bush, smiling gleefully. "Let me guess, she's your mate?" Alice asked, slowly crawling out from behind the bush. "Y-Yes," Aaron said quietly. Alice suddenly pulled out a knife and aimed it at Aaron's heart. She threw it, but before it hit his chest, he caught it. "What---" He started, but he realised. The guards knowing where they were, the intrusion, it was all Alice. He growled and lunged at his sister, who was frozen in fear. He gave her a scratch on the leg, and teleported her away before she got any blood on the field that Odette had taken them to. He guessed that it was special to her, and didn't want to ruin it. Aaron looked back at Odette in fear, but then relaxed when he saw that she was sleeping soundly-- or so he thought.

A few meters away from Aaron, Odette was communicating with her dad telepathically. "Hey, what time must I return?" She thought, and was replied with a "In a few days. I would like to be with you when you find your mate, and since your 18th birthday is in 13 days. . . You know what? Come as soon as you can." He replied. "Yes, Father. I must ask-- " Suddenly she felt the rush of wind and all the clouds brushed out of the way to reveal a Blood moon, brighter than it ever was in the past decade. Odette felt her inner wolf get out of control and jut out. Everyone in the field, who was originally talking amongst themselves, stood in shock and stared at the navy blue wolf silhouette that was sitting down, it's head tilted towards the moon, turning it blue. Suddenly, a dragon appeared and flew directly at Odette.
