I have asked Second Lieutenant Watson to get something to eat to get her out of the office since she is having a bad day. I am really tired of the night events and then the long drive back to get to the office. So getting a good strong coffee and a nice lunch will do me a world of good.
Second Lieutenant Watson walks to the table and sits down. We order food and sit there in total awkwardness. Both of us do not know what to say to each other. I think of something to say to her to get us talking;
"So, why are you having a bad day today?"
"Nothing really, I can handle it"
"Look, if you do not want to talk about it, it is okay. Just know that if you do want to talks with someone without any judgment, I am here"
"Why would you what to help me...you do not even know me"
"I am helping a fellow officer in need, that is all there is to it"
Second Lieutenant Watson looks at me and says;
"Thank you, Detective Marks"
