Chapter 1 - Chapter 001a ~ The Awakening

I tapped my foot on the floor of the cage impatiently waiting for sunrise, quietly muttering away to myself as usual in the hopes of creating a world where time passed by quicker.

"...57, 58, 59, 60!!" I say triumphantly as if by my reaching the end of yet another full counted minute I had managed to achieve something. Staring down at my two bare feet, with over grown nails and skin peeling further off from my soles as I rubbed them against the cold unforgiving metal of the cage floor...

I looked up again, as if lost in a daze, how had I even got here in the first place!! I was just living a normal life, normal parents, normal school, I had 2 best friends...life had been great! I was even somewhat of a high achiever, with my academic scholarship to Korean university in Seoul. I could FINALLY get away from the boring countryside I seemed to be shackled too.

"..He he he he ha-ha...ughh"

I almost chuckled to myself. How ironic it was of me that at the moment I had tried to escape those shackles I'd been forced into another pair....somehow...I still wasn't quite sure how that part worked...

I shifted my glance to the low snow covered mountain peaks in the distance. I'd been here for months now, I knew the routine.

At that moment a light that seemed to split the heavens and the Earth touched the sky and spread out like an Eagle stretching its wings in glorious flight. It illuminated the blue/grey stream just meters away where I'd take a piss if SHE allowed me. I scowled at myself, I didn't want to think of that bitch for any longer than I had to. Maybe if I took a piss in the cage she'd have to clean it up and hopefully move it to more even ground.

Speaking of the devil the she-devil herself appeared, she didn't have any emotions on her face, her eyebrows were far apart and trimmed to perfection as always, although that didn't suit her stupid face and the voice that came out of her stupid mouth. Despite this, I had to admit she was built like an unshakeable mountain. There was no escaping her...Even with my nimble legs and quick reflexes..

I guess that was a plus side of this half prisoner/ half trainee lifestyle I'd been somewhat thrown into. Unlike several months ago, my body was now stripped of excess fat and you could see the start of muscles beginning to form all over my body, my chin had become chiselled and from the brief time I'd once used a window to see my reflection I could see my eyes had changed colour completely...however my black heir was just as messy as always and my pale white skin still burnt if I was exposed to their cruel sun for too long.

Out of the corner of my eye I could see her taking the same stance as always. I looked away, pretending not to care, although I never got over being able to see Magic.

"Saylu...halfbar REACT!!" She said in a quiet tone. The cage door swung open suddenly, the hinges creaking from rusted joints and a strange orange tinge fluttering around them.

I climbed out of the little door attempting to not smack my head on the metal top and stood with my toes curled in from the cold.

At least in the cage I had a blanket and a spell to displace the rain if the weather changed, out here I was vulnerable again.

She marched over to me in an almost military fashion and I presented my arms for her to get rid of the chains that bound me. I knew what would happen from previous instances of disobedience if I didn't follow the routine. My scars on my back shivered as if to remind me...

She tapped the side and the chains fell to the ground. She went inside and came back out a moment later with clothes and shoes and threw them on the ground before me. I put them on begrudgingly, getting in as many sighs and rolling my eyes as I could, although she didn't seem to care.

Once dressed the morning began.

First was chores. Back in my old home my mother had made me do the odd job here and there with washing and cleaning saying that:

"These are important life skills" and "You'll thank me in the future"

I didn't know it at the time but boy was I privileged. Now I had to water the flowers around her small house as well as pull up weeds and plant any new plants she'd bought recently. That was one of the three things I knew about this bitch. She liked picking out flowers and watching them grow.

I once tried to piss on them from the cage and she caught me and beat me unconscious.

After flowers I had to cut the grass manually, as well as sweep the path, clean the windows outside, catch any cobwebs forming near her roof and clear the gutter.

Next was exercises. At first I had resented this activity but I came to enjoy it after a time, first was a 10k run around the compound. I would escape at this time but I know I'd starve, there's nothing at all near here and no one to help me.

I was alone.

At least...that's what I thought..
