After Faust told the story to Robin about Robin Hood, a guy who steals from the rich and uses the money to help the poor, of course, Robin is interested and also wants to be someone like that. Although Robin can't say what's on his mind, Faust can somewhat understand his feelings of approval when hearing the story, which convinced him even more that the zombie crew do still have their consciousness or even emotions from when they were humans.
Being Robin Hood also means that you have to be good at using a bow. So Faust wanted Robin to try and use a bow first and ask how he felt about it, if he liked it then he could continue to use it, but if he didn't like the weapon then Faust didn't want to force him to use something he didn't like.
"Do you want to try using a bow first?"
Robin nodded in response.
"Alright then, let's make another makeshift weapon!"
Faust then cut a branch of a tree and shaped it into the bow main body.
"For the string can you guys bring me the tendon of a magic deer?"
Robin then looked at his teammates and then turned back at Faust, signaling that they all knew what a magic deer was, but they never heard of the thing called a tendon.
"A tendon is… Gra can you help me and grab some magic deer tendon?"
"I'm sorry what?"
"Alright then come with me, I'll show you what it is, and please extract it carefully from the magic beasts and don't break it."
Faust then went back to the place where the zombie crew had killed a magic deer earlier that day, using his spirit surveillance system, he could find it very quickly and without getting lost.
Faust then pointed out to Angra which part of the deer he should cut and of course, Angra did it perfectly without damaging the tendon at all. The tendon then washed with boiling water to slightly soften the tendon. After that, Faust attached the tendon to the carved wood that he made earlier, and with that, the bow was finished.
"The only thing left is to make the arrow." The magic deer tendon should be able to launch an arrow made out of earth magic, but the result won't be great since arrows made out of earth are heavy and not as sharp as real arrows and Faust wanted Robin to try a bow that is as close as the real thing as possible.
Since searching a goose for its feathers and steel for the arrowhead is currently impossible since they are in the middle of a forest, Faust then decided to make the arrowhead utilizing parts of a magic beast that is naturally tough and can be sharpened and in this case, is their bones. The arrow shaft can easily be made using wood from the nearby trees and for the feathers, Faust decided to tell the spirit surveillance system to search for an ordinary owl's nest, not the magic beast one whether it does exist or not, an ordinary owl's feather should do just fine.
After gathering the ingredients and making them, in the end, Faust only makes 30 pieces of arrows the amount he could get from one adult owl's feather since he didn't want to unnecessary kills an ordinary animal for a makeshift arrow that he will most likely discard in the future and an ordinary animal doesn't give him experience either.
Faust then makes a makeshift quiver, this time using earth magic since Robin is an undead and has the unordinary strength skill, so carrying a quiver made of earth should not hinder his movements.
"Now that all the preparation is finished, let's go test drive the bow!"
Faust once again told the spirits to find a magic boar, since it should be the easiest target to one shot because its head is big and wide. They soon found one and they came up to about 30 meters away from the boar. With the undeads having silent steps, and Faust lifting himself up from the ground using wind magic, there is no sound that can be heard that may alert the magic boar.
Faust then instructed Robin on how to use the bow, although he never used one either in this life or his first life, Faust was a top marksman that humanity has, and the basics of using a projectile weapon are not that different from each other.
Faust then teaches Robin how to aim the bow. Robin turned his body sideways, aiming his target with the bow and arrow, and making sure that his eyes are at the same level as the arrow to make sure the shot is correctly lined up. Faust also told him other factors to consider such as their distance, the farther they are then his angle should be higher since the arrow will move downward over time, and external factors to consider such as the wind speed and direction. But because he is an undead and his senses are dulled, he has to rely on visual cues such as where the grass and the tree swayed to see where the wind is going and how strong it is.
Robin then looked at his target, the magic boar's head, and then followed the steps Faust had told him earlier. He grabs the arrow from the quiver and nocked it onto the bow, positioned himself properly and Even though it is his first time using a bow, Robin somewhat feels a familiarity when using the bow, like the angle of shooting and turning his body sideways is not awkward for him, but instead felt natural.
"Wait!" Faust suddenly said. Faust then enhanced the arrow on the bow using earth mana.
"Just to make sure that the arrow will be able to break through the boar's skull. Go ahead and continue, Robin."
After making sure that he followed all the steps that his master had taught him earlier, Robin then finally released his grip on the enchanted arrow.
With the tree from The Forest of Beast that has gathered mana from the surroundings for years and makes it tougher than regular trees and the tendon of a magic deer for its string making the bow had a way better quality than a regular bow with ordinary wood and strings, the enchanted arrow flew in a straight line going directly into the magic boar's head. The penetration power coming from the enchanted arrow and the bow made out of deer's tendon easily pierced through the boar's skull and the arrow went past its head and came out of the other side of the boar.
Looking at Robin's beautiful and elegant kill, the first thing that Faust did was to celebrate in his mind, 'Gra we got a Robin Hood! Although it is the zombie version, it is still amazing! Maybe his name being Robin helped to improve his skill in using a bow, but going with that logic, Zayn is not fit to be the black swordsman, but rather a singer…'
'No Faust, he is clearly talented in combat, if I'm not physically stronger than him and without the help of my own death mana. I don't think I'll be able to take him down on my own at that time.'
'Gra, it's supposed to be a joke…'
'Which part?'
'Forget about it, let's just continue on our journey. We've been sidetracked for quite a long time.'
'And because of who do we waste our time?'
'It's called investing for the future of my all-rounded and powerful undead army, it is not wasting time!'
After realizing that arguing itself is a type of wasting time, the twins decided to finish their breaks and continue their journey into the lake in the middle of the forest.
Their journey continued until evening where the hot sun is already nowhere to be seen, but rather replaced by the warm orange sunlight. When they finally arrived at the lake, they could see the lake was half as huge as the border village. The clear water became like a huge mirror that reflected the setting sun. And with the trees that surrounded the entire lake, the place seems like the perfect place you would go on a healing vacation to isolate yourself free from the problems from the outside world.
"Where should we build our camp?"
Faust looked at the surroundings around him and all the place seemed like a good area to build a campsite.
"Let's build it there," Angra said as he pointed at an area that has a slightly larger clearing than the other place.
"Good job spotting a nice spot Gra! Okay then, I will make the camp, and can you gather the firewood for us to use later? And for the zombie crew, you guys can patrol around the area, but if you found anything that we haven't fought before, please report to me first before engaging in anything."
After hearing Faust's command, the zombie crew got straight to work and Angra also went on and did his job. While the others are away, Faust started to build the camp, he flattened the uneven ground, made a fire pit, he also made a drying rack to dry their clothes, then he built a simple shelter that can keep him and Angra away from the cold wind night and rain. All using earth magic and strengthening them to keep them from collapsing.
When he was in the middle of constructing the shelter, he noticed that there were bubbles coming out of the lake right in front of their campsite. Faust walked in closer to the lakeside to see what thing caused those bubbles.
But when he got closer to the lake, Faust noticed the gathering of water attribute mana from inside the lake, and the concentration was at an alarming level and surely could harm him. Faust then followed his instinct and jumped to the side, away from the lakeside. And his hunch turns out to be true, what he sees in front of him are tentacles made out of water, and those tentacles just whipped at the place where Faus just stood earlier. Faust was curious what kind of magic beasts that just attacked him out of nowhere.
And before he could ask more questions, the water inside the lake opened up, and a few turtles as huge as Faust himself appeared from inside the lake. The turtles are floating on what seems to be a water carpet and the water tentacles can be seen coming out of the carpet.
