After viewing the 'supposed' stat of the core families he turned his display off and laid on his bed.
Oliver wasn't so sure if this was the actual stats since what ever info he collected was by going through their Official history and their official statements. But he believed that at least these stats would be in the neighborhood of their actual stats, now he was reminded of how powerful the core family members were compared to even normal citizen, heck they were even stronger the elite guild members who boasted grades of D to C.
Oliver knew that each grade had a 'Factor',
Factors were numerical values which would indicate how many times the grade is more potent than its presiding grade.
For example , Grade F to D had a Factor of 5 implying
it would take five F grade mages ( soldiers ) to match one E grade mage
But for Grade C to A the Factor was 25 and for Grade AA to S it was 100
But Oliver didn't know the Factor for Grades higher than S which he believed would be in several hundreds if not a thousand.
He sighed and thought ' No wonder guilds became their puppets'.
Being bored Oliver took a piece of paper from his study table and started writing something with great interest and sincerity.
Time passed.
Oliver felt a buzzing sensation from his wrist and knew it was time to get ready for the second day of school. He argued with himself whether to shower or not but decided to shower as he sweated buckets because of his damned nightmare. He left early like yesterday, not because he was excited but because he was hungry. He quickly had used his issued credit for breakfast and took the elevator and pretended be calm since he wasn't alone on that elevator.
Though he did not feel like befriending them, he could not lower himself by showing he was scared of a measly elevator right?.
Getting off the elevator he walked through the corridor which looked pristine white and seemed to emit light from as if the whole corridor was fluorescent, Oliver didn't bother for any of these things since he had seen this even in his orphanage, so he just entered his class room nonchalantly took to his seat.
Empty desks in the class room slowly started to fill in as the time neared for the class bell. Well even the two celebrities of his class room were seated, as expected, were crowed by students chatting and complimenting them.
DING-DONG
Just as the bell rang all the student dispersed to their seat, sliding the door Prof. James entered briskly as before but this time his face was stiff and a forced smile.
Addressing the students he started speaking, " Good Morning class, I have got quite a news for all of you, it seems that all of you will be taking aptitude test 6 months from now", he let it sink in to the students before continuing , " and within 2 months we will be having a special tournament between various eligible Core family members", he paused and continued," and all are free to watch", he smiled looking at Athena and George who stiffened at the word 'Tournament'.
Oliver was kind of surprised to find that a Tournament was held especially for Core family members.
Inter School Tournament were held between school at the end of the year, after taking the aptitude test and getting a grade of E or above, since F grade was worst and acted as nothing but canon fodder in battle field.
But this time a special Tournament was held especially for the Core family members and that too 2 months from now, which made Oliver wonder what was happening outside the school.
Prof. James started his class as he would any regular day.
Oliver was once again bored, this time by the history of this planet and rise and fall the so called 'savior' or 'heroes'. Oliver pretended to listen but never truly bothered to, as the bell once again rang Prof . James left class as quickly as he entered.
Oliver looked at his watch assistant for his next class, he was kind of excited because it said Elemental force class, which was what Oliver wanted to learn more about and practice it.
As Oliver continued to ponder, a young women with admirable looks had entered the class and commanded everyone's attention by light coughs and spook, " Good morning students, I will be teaching the means, some theories regarding elemental forces ", she glanced at the class room with a cheerful smile then remembering she continued, a little embarrassed, " Oh and you can call me Ava".
Some of the boys started brushing their hairs and some just looked at her with open mouth, seeing which Ava smiled again gently and said, " Well, seems like all of you are excited to learn about elemental forces, then I have a good news, all of you will have be able to see the special crystal used for your aptitude test", seeing the everyone seemed still she continued, " aren't you all excited?".
Hearing this the whole class nodded but each for their own reasons.
Ava took the students through the corridor to a distant room situated at the corner of the corridor, seemly isolated. Ava neared the door and touched her watch to the door scanner, unlocking the door and sliding open. All students rushed to the room and heard the door closing.
The room was rather ordinary, in fact too ordinary except hosting a bizarre contraption at the center of it. The contraption seemed to be dominated by a incomplete ring like structure with a single gap, through which an adult could easily walk through. If looked closely enough one could see streams of white light inside of the ring twisting and twitching through its course making the open ends of the ring shine brightly.
Every student in the room had a sparkle in their eyes expect, unsurprisingly, George and Athena since they had already seen this contraption and used it too.
Oliver's eyes gleamed in different sense, akin to filling his dead boring eyes with life and energy.
The longer he looked at the ring the more his eyes seemed to sparkle and his body started warming up as if being embraced with love and longing he never got, tears rolled from eyes from this foreign yet nostalgic sensation. Just as he wanted to stare more at the ring
CLAP
Everyone turned around, even Oliver was broken from his trance, "Okay everyone I think its time to leave, don't worry you will see it again in 6 more months. I just wanted to fill your excitement and curiosity a little", saying she waved everyone to leave the room. Oliver reluctantly left the room peeking everyone one or twice at the ring.
Ava locked the room with a swipe of her wrist and proceeded with everyone to their class room.
She glanced at Oliver and left at the class bell.
The rest of the day passed very quickly for Oliver, who was lost in his own world.
As the classes ended Oliver looked at his watch he had gotten his credits for food but he felt like his stomach was stuffed, nothing else to do he just went to his dorm room without further ado.
As he entered his room his heart felt heavy and his mind blanked out....
