Chapter 3 - Chapter 3-Do you want to know who’s faster?

Suyan coughed the lump of anxiety choking her from speaking. Her hand turned numb, as the conflicting silence circulating the phone signals coursed in her veins, preventing her from dividing her focus on the monitor in front of her.

The woman on the other hand started the ignition while looking indifferently at the road ahead, a vein begun to visibly throb on her temples from silent treatment she was getting. Finally, when she couldn't hold it back, she unconsciously spoke her words with commanding vibrato, "Spill it."

Suyan who was fidgeting a moment ago, close all the tabs and open an SSH port on her computer. Her hands flew across the keyboard, prodding the keys in a swift manner, she didn't stop a second typing the series of configuration, until numerous tabs popped up cramping the desktop.

"The game was released a day after your game, Berserk. I couldn't trace the developer, it was left anonymous. I came upon it by chance on a dating site. It's been mostly search in every site engine." Suyan wiped the sweat on her cheek, and continued to skim page after page. Despite the silence, her anxiety only heightened.

She deeply regretted uttering those careless words that pushed the bottom line of this frightening game addict! Although, she was also surprised on how the AspireTech's game became second, it will probably only worsened the predicament she was in, thus she only swallowed the uncertain thought.

"Are you sure it wasn't one of them? How come it happened right under my nose? That's why the development team hasn't been giving me any reports. My employees were also giving behaving strangely. Did you check the IP sources? The graphics might contain some seal or logos?" The woman gripped the steering wheel tight, speeding towards 200km/h. Both lanes were deserted, giving her the opportunity to drive off without care of the speed limit. What if that representative from Edge got this information, the deal might be snatched by that otome game instead.

Suyan bit her lips unsure of what to reply. "Uhm... The poster is plain characters with the title, no company or publisher was mentioned", she mumbled in a low voice.

"You played the game right? Did you check the game's graphic or settings? There must be! No Company would neglect placing their credentials!" The woman pushed a button near the screen lowering the temperature of the air conditioning to a few degrees. She then turned on the monitor, connecting the phone to a cord. The screen lit up, and Suyan's face appeared.

Suyan on the other hand, was surprised when a window popped up consuming the entire screen. "Hey! When did you..., she was about to complain, but that eyes on the screen took her voice away, she only shrunk her shoulders unable to look straight. How come she suddenly became this domineering, I only said a few words and she completely changed her persona. I feel like I'm taking an exam with all the pressure...

The woman gave a threatening glance before resuming checking the road ahead. There was still no sign of any buildings, or any other vehicles.

"Are you sure I'm on the right road? It's freaking pitch black with no signs of life forms. I swear if this is a prank, I will..."

"Sainkuko is just right ahead. That road was an abandon government project, so it explains why there wasn't a single car in sight. Ooh, is that the new model you bought, sweet ride!"

The woman was unfazed, unaffected by the comment. She only raised one of her brows and ignored the remark completely.

Suyan only smiled awkwardly at the failed attempt. She wanted to change the topic however the reply she got sealed the chance.

"Give me your account, you must've been engrossed with these capture targets to the extent that you didn't notice the company's references."

Suyan scowled at the demand, showing a disapproval look. "No, I won't. It's just a game! Even though your game placed second, you shouldn't get angry because it's just normal."

The woman appeared unyielding, her stare on the screen becoming sharper like a predator gazing on its prey. Suyan took a breath of the suffocating atmosphere transmitted to her room.

"I'm not worried on being second. I'm more worried that Edge will sign a deal with this otome game's company instead. How great is the game anyway?"

Suyan quickly averted the screenwriters and fiddled her fingers, "It isn't great at all... bunch of childish concepts, frequent glitches, and..."

"Then the game must be great, looking at the stiff posture you are in as you avoid my face, Suyan, your lies get worsened every year."

Suyan only glanced for a second at the screen before grimacing at the woman's persistence. She scratched her perfectly comb hair and threw a tantrum, "Oh come on, that doesn't mean I need to give you my account. You can download the game and make an account of your own. It only takes some minutes."

After a long while, the woman didn't response, it made Suyan assumed that she had managed to persuade the former. She smiled relieved finally overcoming the hurdle minutes ago. After a few more seconds passed she observed the woman tapping the monitor with her right hand, while her left hand maneuvered the car. She must be creating an account...

Suyan giggled as a bunch of ideas taunted her lips to smirk, "Hey, what's your charac..."

As she was about to inquire the busy woman, a small notification box popped encrypted with a sweet message,

"...You must be the star that lit up my sky..."

Suyan covered her mouth suppressing the bubbled happiness in her throat. Her hands was itching to type a message back, however a chuckle paused her fingers.

She (Suyan) looked up to see the woman leaning on her leather seat heavily letting out a series of laughter as she was staring at the screen, Suyan giggled excitedly at the sight of her fiend enjoying herself the ga...

"Aiya, 'you must be the star that lit up my sky', don't you think it's a bit corny?"

Suyan felt her cheeks burned after hearing what the woman said, "You evil hearted woman, when did you bug my computer?"

The woman lifted her hand and pretended to contemplate a certain memory, "I don't know, perhaps on the last visit, my hands accidentally corrupted your motherboard. I'm truly sorry." The woman placed her right hand on her chest, indicating that she's slightly hurt.

Suyan fumed at the confession, pointing furiously at the woman feigning an apology. She was about to exit the video call, when the notification box containing the sweet message enlarged and begun to type something on its own. Suyan leaned to get a better view, she read the unfinished phrase, "You must the sh*t on my toilet bowl that I couldn't get..."

Suyan hurriedly punched the delete key, striking it continuously to erase the disgusting punch line. Relief that she completely exterminated it, she panted, leaning heavily on her pink arm chair. That was so close...

The woman frowned and clicked her tongue. She gave a threatening gaze towards Suyan who was sweating like a pig. "Do you want to know who's faster?"
