"Construction of rover is 78 percent complete, estimated time of completion 26 minutes."
Vi cheerfully chirped away.
Airos was in the middle of screwing a bolt onto a component and soon pull the tool away from it.
"Thank you, Vi." Airos responded back as he looks down at the component laying itself on the table, and his eyes wander to the rover.
"You have a real weird fascination, you know that?" Vi soon displays herself as a full 3D holographic projection beside him, via a hologram projection on the rooftop.
Vi was sitting on top of the rover looking down at Airos.
Airos grunted and looked up at her "What's so weird about it?"
"Your fascination in building gadgets and machines like this one... for the sole purpose of exploring Earth." Vi got off the rover and started to approach Airos.
"What's wrong with that? Eventually, someday the atmosphere on Earth will clear up, allowing us to return home" Airos crosses his arms together and lean back into the chair.
"There nothing wrong with the desire of wanting to see humanity's planet of origin."
"It's just that, the reports and the data I have collected from the central data banks, your Grandfather had a similar level of wanting to go to earth, more really like wanting to return home."
Airos didn't say anything the moment Vi mention his Grand Father, A huge role model of why he became an Engineer in the first place.
"My grandfather huh? You going around digging up my old family history?" He leans himself forward and clutches both of his hands together twiddling his two thumbs.
"What so bad about bringing up old news?" Vi lean herself forward and was on the same eye level as Airos.
Airos stared at the deep hallow blue eyes of Vi and let out a quick sigh.
"Nevermind let's get back to work? shall we Vi?"
Vi titled her head to the side and then stood back up, disappearing from his eyesight.
"As you wish, Airos."
Airos grab ahold of one of the tools laying on the table and walked over to the rover. He was holding a metal cylinder rod in his hands as he presses a button on the side, a light beam particle was shining onto the rover exterior, slowly scanning it.
He glances up at one of the cameras in the room, while still scanning the rover.
"What made you interested in learning my family history anyway?"
"Why do you ask?" Coming off of the speakers in his headwear.
"Because you never brought it up until now?" He presses the same button again to stop the light beam and then tilt his head up toward the camera.
"At first." Vi materialized next to Airos "I wasn't all that intrigued with your developments."
"Then I saw a certain pattern in the way you develop things."
"A pattern?" Airos turn to look at her with an eyebrow raised
"Yes, because most of your work is all about long-range reconnaissance and to be able to perform extensive plus complicated research."
"Chemicals detection, Temperature monitor, The function to dig up the soil and test what's in it?"
"Is it really that obvious of a pattern?" Airos walked back to the table and place down the metal rod.
"It is... Most of the surface of Mars has been mapped out, and with almost zero to none need to perform any complicated tests on the planet."
Airos spun his head around as he was in the middle of opening his mouth to speak, he couldn't find the correct words to say next, so he ended up closing it again. Some genius Engineer he is.
"True..." He grabs another tool from the table and the component, proceeding to the rover to install the piece.
"Let the assembly plant finish the remaining parts." Once he had installed the piece onto the rover he took a few steps back and looked at Vi.
"As you wish." The moment Vi dematerialized, the machines and the robotic arms inside the room started to come back online again.
Soon finishing the rover in a couple of minutes, While Airos sat back in the desk chair.
A few moments later, a rover with 4 wheels and multiple pieces of equipment visible on the outside but one of the functions was to slide them into an interior compartment. Once all the sensitive equipment was inside it had a sleek design.
"What kind of name are you going to give it?" Vi reappears again standing beside him.
"How about... Wanderer Mk 1?" He looked up at Vi
"Codename Wanderer Mk 1" A label printed in bold text had suddenly appeared on the side of the rover.
"Did you remember to input a fully charged power cell?"
"Indeed, the blueprint was followed."
Airos turn to the rover and smiled. "Excellent, please turn it on, and let's perform some basic test."
"Very well." A second later the Wanderer rover had power-up, with mechanical sounds going off, and some exterior lights shining.
Airos push himself off the chair and walked over to a platform as the rover drove itself onto the platform. He reaches over and inputs a few numbers, letting the platform take them up to the surface level that leads into a testing zone.
A large gate would open up to a large yard, with the grass neatly cut. "Let the rover drive around the yard, do some spins."
Orders inputted." The rover drove off the platform as the wheels spun in a circle, going around the yard.
Another machine flew over it, and other land-based vehicles went past it. The yard was a public place to allow people, to do a basic test on their newly design machines.
"Hey Airos, you finish making a new rover huh?"
A group of fellow Engineers approaches him as he was still standing on top of the platform.
"Hm?... Yeah." His response was short to them.
"What kind of name did you gave it this time? Explorer? Finder?"
"Wanderer."
One of them turns to look at the rover that was still driving around. "Wanderer huh?"
"Is there anything you need of me?" Airos asked as his eyes move between them.
"Nah, Not really, we were just curious that's all."
"Yeah... you know most of the stuff you make is usually not nee-" One of them nudge themselves against another to stop them from speaking.
"What?"
"N-nothing... have a nice day we'll be going back to our own projects now." Airos was watching the group as they began to walk away from him.
He let out a short and quiet sigh and he returns his attention back to the rover.
"Wanderer is operating at 100 percent efficiency, none of the systems are showing any signs of error, or data miscalculation." Vi's voice pops up again.
"Good, Let it continue driving a bit more than have it come back onto the platform.'
"Orders received."
Once the testing was dealt with, the rover would drive itself back onto the platform. He had inputted the numbers letting the platform back down.
With today's work has been completed, he took off his work equipment and place them back in their designated spot. Then he left the building and was walking toward his automated car. Using an activation key he opened up the vehicle door and sat down on the artificial cotton seats.
"Where to?" Vi had appeared on the car front view panel.
"Take me home."
"Address inputted, please enjoy the ride." Vi brought up a GPS menu as the vehicle engine started up, and then back out of its parking spot.
In a matter of minutes, he was already in the city streets somewhere in the central area, where all the skyscrapers were located at. Advertisement displays were all around, other cars driving around the streets, people walking around all over the place.
"Enlist in the Horizon Dawn defense core!"
"Worried about your baby having genetic problems? Come down to the new gene clinic!"
"Construction workers, Artists, scientists, musicians? Everyone is important!"
"The same old city, same old world." He had his elbow on the window sill and a hand planted on his cheek. In the reflection, he notices Vi's body had appeared sitting beside him.
"Bored?"
"Extremely."
"Well, our destination will take another 20 minutes to get there."
Airos swiftly turns his head around and looked at Vi
"Please prepare my usual meal when I get home."
"With the usual spices and medium heat?"
"Yes please." Airos smiled a little.
"Already doing it." Vi titled her head to the side.
