Chapter 1 - The Beginning

"Kuyori!" A woman's voice spoke to me. "Kuyori, dear, please get up!"

I opened my eyes then looked at the woman and my eyes met hers. The ground was rumbling and lightning crashing with thunder booming loudly. The woman took my hand and pulled me out of my bed and ran down to the basement.

"M-Mom..? What's going on?" I looked at her confused. "Where's dad?"

"There's no time to explain..! The Fire Pillar at Acredi is unstable. The balance of the elements is no longer there, creating an Elemental Destruction. We have to hide here..!" Mom held me close and I looked at her worried.

"Dad, we can't leave dad out there! I'm gonna go find him!" I escaped my mother's grasp and ran upstairs.

"Wait Kuyori!" Mom looked at me.

I grabbed my Squire's Armor and my iron sword then ran out of the house. It was raining hard outside and the village looked like a ghost town. I went South of my village which was called Rede Village. I was still a beginner when it came to elements, and with the balance of elements gone it was much harder to control my abilities or even use them. As an Earth Pupil, I didn't have much going for me either way.

I travelled down a path and looked around. Nothing but trees around me and the darkness looming even further as I went deeper in the forest to search for my father. The ground rumbled viciously and I fell to the ground and grunted. Thunder boomed loudly and lightning crashed harder. Amber aura appeared around my body and I began losing control of my elemental abilities. I grunted and vines began emerging from the ground and whipping in all directions.

"N-No...I can't allow myself...to lose control.." I grunted and tried to gain back control over my elemental prowess. "It hurts...so much.."

"Flare!" A male voice yelled out and shot a fireball at my vines and burned them down even in this heavy rain. It was the work of an Elemental Master.

"Kuyori! The hell..? Kuyori! Are you alright?!" The male ran towards me.

"That voice...Dad!" I looked up then noticed a hooded figure come from the shadows and attacked my father. "Dad! Look out!"

"Wha--" My father grunted as he was stabbed though his chest.

"The deed is done.." A deep masculine voice said wearing the cloak. He took the sword out of him and wiped the blood from his sword.

I got up and ran to my dad and he fell back looking at the sky. I got on my knees beside him with tears forming in my eyes.

"Dad! I need to get you some help!" I said and looked around. We were miles away from Rede Village and we wouldn't make it in time. "I'm gonna try to heal you myself."

Light green aura surrounded my hands and I placed my hands where the wound was. I wasn't a good healer plus I wasn't skilled enough to know if I was even helping him.

"Son..just stop." My father held my arm and looked at me. "I know you just want to help...but your healing abilities aren't working.."

"Please just let me do this!!" I cried out. "Please.."

"It isn't working...because your level is far too low...Please just stop, you're only draining your own energy." He said.

"Dad.." I had tears falling on his chest and he held my cheek.

"Son...The Elemental Pillars are failing due to an unknown source...it's gonna end up being too dangerous to travel outside the village for a while...Please take this to your mother..and this Fire Spirit. This Spirit is one of many souls you can use in battle or to chance your classes...Depending on how you set up your spirits, you can gain new abilities and classes. You can only carry up to eight.." Dad said and a red spirit exited his body and entered mine then he handed me a note.

I couldn't even look him in the eyes. Sorrow filled my heart and I had an unbearable guilt building up inside me. He touched my chest with his finger.

"Remember like I always taught you...You are a Master...Determination and Will...takes you a long way.." He smiled and looked at the sky then closed his eyes. His hand fell to the ground.

"Why..? Why did you do it..?" I said and my aura was now red because of the fire spirit.

"This doesn't involve you...this is a matter of adult business...children like you should mind their business." The man said.

"You kill my father...and expect to get away with it..? No..I won't allow it..." I said and picked up my sword then stood up. "You will pay!"

I yelled and dashed to the man and slashed, but he easily dodged. I slashed again and again, but he kept dodging. I let my anger get the best of me and I held my hand out and a fireball appeared then disappeared because of the rain I looked surprised then the man dashed towards me and punched my gut. I groaned and my aura vanished. I dropped my sword and fell to my knees.

"The Dawn...An Age of Darkness that will be set upon this world because of Elemental Imbalance. The Eternal Dawn is caused because of the pure imbalance of elements. The light dims and the sun turns colder. Luckily because of the Fire Dragon, the Sun won't completely disappear...but once it does the world will be in complete darkness in which we will finally be able to be free. For now, the Day Walkers like me walk before you." The man said and looked at me.

"You...bastard..." I coughed a bit of blood and fainted due to the lack of energy.

The man walked off and disappeared in the shadows. The rain soon stopped and the clouds slowly vanish. A few hours passed and I woke up in a house and sat up slowly and grunted.

"You surely know how to keep yourself in danger, Kuyori.." A female said and looked back. I looked at her then looked away. The woman had lavender hair that was in a ponytail and purple eyes.

"Kaina..." I said and thought about my father.

"We took the old man to the Cleric...unfortunately they wouldn't save him because of some curse he was put on." A male said and I looked at him. He had red hair and brown eyes.

"Shisu.." I said.

"I'm sorry we couldn't save him...we know how important he was to you. We were told to find you by the request of your mother...you should visit her once your body heals." Kaina said and looked a bit sad.

I laid back down and placed my arm over my eyes and sighed. Kaina looked at Shisu and he shook his head. I didn't know how I could face my mother again. Dad dying was mostly my fault...I got him killed because of my stubbornness. I didn't want to face my mother again, yet I had to.

An hour passed and I felt well enough to leave the room and go home to meet my mother. I walked through the door and was immediately greeted with an embrace from my mother and I looked shocked then I teared up and closed my eyes and hugged her back.

"I'm so sorry.." I said sadly.

"I'm just happy that you're safe and I got his letter...I didn't want to lose you both...I didn't want to lose my only son.." My mother said and held me more.

[4 Years Later]

I just turned 17 and was training under a Slayer who Mastered the Earth Element since that was my main element, Kaine was training under her mother who was a master of the Wind Element and Shisu was training under Master Ludero who was a master of the Fire Element. It's been four years and we finally have a bit of peace to continue training to become a master like our mentors.

"I think you're ready for Elder Grah's Trials. Your skill with the Earth Element has become more noticable. Not enough to be called a master but enough to go from a pupil to an Apprentice. You have some competition since other pupils will be joining." My mentor said.

"Thank you, Master. A praise like that from you means a lot." I bowed and he placed his hand on my head and ruffled my head then put me in a head lock and chuckled. "H-Hey! Watch it!"

"My name is Shizen, enough with this Master business!" Shizen said.

"Alright! Alright! Stop messing up my hair!" I said.

He laughed and let me go and I fixed my hair. I closed my eyes and sighed then he picked up his sword and pointed it at me.

"Wanna go for a practice match?" He asked.

"Sure and this time, I'm winning." I said and smiled.

"Keep dreaming." Shizen chuckled.
