Chapter 214 - Clashing Auras

__________ POV Narration__________

Ashton didn't have to travel for much longer until he saw it. Well, he first spotted a giant figure badly trying to hide within the waters.

It was none other than his former teacher. A being that many would find frightening. Ashton didn't show a single sign of hesitance when he saw his teacher.

He didn't even blink. Any intimidating factor that the Guardian of the Sunken Temple had was simply crushed by the lack of intelligence it currently had.

The beast wasn't even able to hide in the water, it just stood straight, Its head and a set of hands were completely above the water.

Ashton looked at his teacher with pity. 'I hoped you'd get to live longer... But I guess you never would've wanted to reach this stage... Sorry for not doing this sooner.' Ashton steeled himself as he prepared for the fight in front of him.

His teacher wasn't going to be easy to kill, even if he was not that intelligent currently. Ashton started gathering the clouds, controlling the waters around him and the ones in the clouds to form a seemingly never-ending cloud that crackled with blue lights.

The Guardian also noticed the changes in the weather, it lifted its head and looked directly at Ashton. Which made the old hunter raise an eyebrow.

Then he noticed it, a spark of purple light coming from the eyes of his former teacher. Instantly, he became wary, from the sea, rose a large snake-like membrane that already had its mouth open, prepared to swallow him whole.

It was one of the limbs of the Guardian, its gigantic size made Ashton look like a speck of dust that was about to be swallowed up.

Ashton didn't panic at all. He simply flapped his wings and dodged the snakish appendage in time, just as its mouth closed and clamped shut, releasing a shockwave that managed to blow a bit of the cloud away.

Ashton wasn't exactly perturbed by the sudden attack. His teacher displaying intelligence was what actually unnerved him... But then he realized. The thing he was fighting wasn't his teacher.

'... They took control of my teacher's body, huh? I guess I can't blame them. He's the strongest being they managed to create.' Ashton looked at the large purple eyes that scanned the clouds for him.

The mouth of the snake arm snapped open and started releasing a poisonous mist into the clouds. Ashton once more flew away, this time though, he decided to release a counterattack.

He rolled around the clouds for a bit, then he formed a tornado with the Guardian's head in the middle. The god controlling the guardian had no time to react properly, as countless lightning bolts rained down upon the body of the guardian.

It was a horrific, yet mesmerizing scene. A spectacle of both beauty and brutality.

The charged lightning ripped through the Guardian's flesh, it healed repeatedly, only to be shredded apart once more.

The beast then snapped, it smashed one of its hands onto the surface of the sea, blowing all of the clouds away and creating a large whirlpool right beside the one of the Ruins it was protecting.

Ashton looked down at the god with a cold gaze. Slowly, from the very bottom of the sea, roots started rising on the body of the guardian, algae moving and strapping onto its hands.

Trees grew from underneath its body and formed a massive forest on the guardian's legs almost instantly. The beast roared in rage as it tried to shake off the vegetation growing on its body.

"Don't struggle so much... You know you've no chance in this form. You're merely an observer, being able to use my teacher's body won't suddenly make you knowledgeable on how to use it."

Ashton's voice was loud, it boomed across the sea as he looked the beast in its purple glinted large eyes.

He could easily spot the rage in them. It made him release a small sadistic smirk.

The beast then released a shockwave of Aura, completely blowing away all of the vegetation around it and making the sea part around it.

The pressure of that unleashed aura was felt throughout Lake Mobius. The humans that were now more sensitive to Nen felt it too... They all trembled in fear. A giant, a being that humans couldn't possibly dream to match existed, and it was revealing its presence with a bang.

It was frightening, sickening. It almost made everyone cower in fear. And some did do it. Only those that had more willpower managed to stand upright during that initial spike.

The crazed bloodthirst in its aura was felt throughout the entire sea. The sea monsters all fled in every direction, trying to get away from the source of it all.

"I guess you're not entirely useless... But being able to do that much won't help you." Ashton said while looking down at the guardian. Then he released a smile of his own.

Suddenly, Lake Mobius could feel yet another aura rise. One that matched the previous one. This one, however, was more sinister, it lacked bloodthirst, it lacked craziness, it simply gave everyone that felt it a cold and freezing touch on the neck.

It was as if death was whispering sweet little nothings into their ears. Kite quickly realized who that aura belonged to. He had felt it before, on his skin. But now it was completely unleashed.

'Ashton is fighting... Something...' He thought as he rushed to contact the others and inform them. Although, most of them managed to figure that out on their own already.

It wasn't all that hard to figure out for most of them, after all, Ashton hadn't left that long ago. And the beasts weren't going to start fighting by themselves, of that they were sure.

So, this was the only explanation. Ashton was engaging in a fight with what they could presume to be the strongest beast around.

The two auras clashed, neither managing to gain any dominance over the other. Ashton gazed into the large eyes of the guardian once more, as he prepared for the next move.
