__________ POV Narration__________
The day of the raid on humanity was quite a tragic one for the beings of the Abyss.
After one of them managed to free his consciousness through one of the princes, he managed to spread his Life Force and kill off most of the human race.
Unfortunately, the ones within the New Continent all survived. The gods could feel their life force brazenly still burning bright.
But they knew it was only a matter of time before Humanity ended, the barrier was about to give in after all...
That pesky barrier had been a knife in their back for a very long time. It was a precaution planted by Ozymandias the Great, the strongest human king to have ever existed.
He crafted a relic that could erect a barrier strong enough to keep all other beings away. It only allowed humans to come and go.
Ozymandias managed to create that relic on the brink of death after fleeing with a part of his kingdom from the Dark Continent. The barrier he erected sprouted from the centre of Lake Mobius and pushed all of their pursuers back.
In the end, the Great King died, much to the pleasure of the Beings residing in the Abyss. But he left behind something that basically made humans untouchable.
He allowed his race to grow once more. The relic that kept the barrier was simply called, 'The Heart of the Forgotten King'. It was named like that by the last human that died with knowledge of humanities past.
All of the information was promptly erased by history. But the 'Gods' remembered. They scowled, and shouted, and begged, and screeched, like petulant children.
They wished to see humanity dead, but they were simply unable to do anything about them. So they watched with spiteful glares and waited for something to come up...
That was when he appeared. A small child washed up the shores of the Dark Continent. The Gods were confused, they chose not to act though. They weren't expecting the child to integrate so quickly with the residents of the Continent.
Ashton quickly became a fascinating sight for them, they didn't even see him as human, so their hatred for him wasn't quite that great... No, they planned to use him. After all, they were all trapped within that space because of humanity, it was only fair that a human was to free them someday.
The Gods knew that they had a chance when the expeditions began. At first, all of the humans were dying, the Gods turned the beasts mad using their influence on them as their creators. But, after some expeditions, they started rising guardians and planting in clues, waiting for their little human puppet to work and free them.
They weren't quite pleased when that human managed to find companionship, they slowly tried to enter his mind and steer him off from them. They only succeeded to some extent, but that was more than enough.
Ashton slowly shaped up into what they wanted him to be. Especially so when he gained a renewed interest in the Dark Continent.
But slowly... Things went in the opposite direction from what they wanted. Ashton managing to free himself from their influence completely and exploring on his own, making decisions and doubting all of the information that they had provided him with.
It all crumbled down when he found the doll, the message within the doll managed to surprise the gods too. Who exactly was trying to help humanity?! Who was aware of their intentions?!
They had no way of knowing. They couldn't know who was at fault for it. But Ashton saw through their hubris and even forgot about the ritual that they emphasised so much on.
So, he became nothing more than a shameless and savage beast that needed to be taken down. They were beyond happy when they could no longer sense his Nen.
Perhaps a bit too happy... He did come back, in a different, and much more frightening form.
Well, the fact that he reappeared and easily took care of the army that they raised to be strong enough to take out all of humanity meant that their problems were far from over.
They were forced to work hard and gather as many beasts as possible, an action which took some time... They certainly didn't expect the hateful Ashton to actually make his way towards them.
__________ POV Ashton__________
I left the continent in the morning, there were only three people to see me off, Kurapika, Momoze and Pitou specifically.
I made sure that Humanity would stand strong even in my absence. The forests I grew are alive, I don't need to constantly control them if I need them to take care of intruders.
I basically did my job. And, humanity is currently in a state where I would feel comfortable just leaving them to fight the hordes by themselves. Well, at least as long as the defences I built still stand.
Even if humans can't kill that many beasts, the forests I raised alone can take care of most of them. Or at least keep them at bay indefinitely.
Well, unless my teacher shows up there. But that's unlikely, at least I don't really think that would happen. If my guesses are correct, he should be somewhere near the Sunken Temple, defending it.
Currently, I'm flying through the sky. My body is somewhat similar to Youpi's, I seem to be able to manipulate it fully. I'm unsure as to what exactly spurred this ability into existence, but it seems quite convenient.
Well, I need to search my memory properly, to determine the actual direction that the ship was heading for when it found that whirlpool.
I do know that it was supposedly near the Dark Continent. Enough for it to be outside the Barrier that protected humanity.
I can't wait to see it again... It's been oh so long. I wonder if that place is actually empty. Well, with the ability of the Ancestral Whale, I can likely just part the sea and undo the whirlpool altogether.
I'll obviously get a good view of it before going in. Hah, I wonder what I can find in that place...
