"Yeah, I think I can see how this one would be an issue..." Ashton said as he stared at the large shadow.
It seemed to be twice as large as the Ark. Maha and Zeno both seemed to be prepared to jump down at it and start trying to fight it off.
But Ashton just raised his hand and stopped the two of them with a smile.
"Fighting this thing on its turf would be quite difficult. We all go the second it rears its ugly head." The old hunter was already thinking of how to drive the large beast away from the civilians.
He had quite a few things he could use against the beast, but most of his moves were highly destructive and dangerous. That wouldn't have been an issue if he was alone or just with the Zoldycks.
But there were still thousands of civilians that had yet to embark on Noah's Ark, so, he couldn't really explode the sea monster out of the water. Such a move would create large waves that could sink the ships that were around the Ark.
The Ark itself was far too large to be toppled down by any waves. Not even tsunamis, it was the type of ship that could cut right through a giant whirlpool with little effort and almost no resistance, not even shifting from the course.
"This thing is a bit too much though... The size difference is too much for the two of us..." Maha said while looking at the shadow warily.
Zeno also nodded "Indeed... A full-powered dragon dive only left it with a few scratches on the surface of its skin..."
The beast's form seemed to be more akin to that of a large shark than anything. At least that was what Ashton could discern from its shadow.
"Fighting this thing does seem a bit counterproductive... No one says that we have to face all problems head-on... You guys are assassins, after all, a good skill to have is running away."
In the end, Ashton decided that running away was the only thing they could do if they didn't want all of the passengers to die.
Even the ones on the Ark wouldn't be safe in a fight of such great proportions.
"...But what about the ones still on the smaller ships? Barely half of the people we came with have managed to embark... At least the smaller beasts aren't even approaching this large vessel," Maha asked while looking down.
The old assassin wasn't suddenly struck by a bolt of compassion, he simply didn't see the loss of over 15000 people to be in their favour.
After all, they couldn't really take the other ships with them too. They were all damaged, only moving because Ashton pushed them through the water.
Escaping as they were now would leave the people that had yet to board to their deaths. And doing so was counterproductive.
The Zoldycks already spent a lot of effort trying to get them all to the New Continent. At this point, the Sunk Cost Fallacy was also a factor in this.
Not only that, the Zoldycks were a family with morals. They were all assassins, they lived by a code. Sure, not all the young members of the family respected the code, but the leaders of the group did.
And that was really all that mattered. They were the leaders, and they cared about keeping their values intact. They had promised to keep the civilians safe, a job that they had assigned to themselves...
Well, not entirely. There were many factors in their choice to create a human city and protect as many people as possible.
For now, though, they needed to find a way to keep the group intact. It wasn't going to be an easy endeavor. As the monster was already slowly approaching the surface.
"We can't really let them die... I guess there's only one thing to do, but then I won't be of much help protecting the ship..." Ashton said while looking down at the ships.
The ladders were instantly pulled up, the people that were climbing were also pulled along with them.
The ones on the ships were starting to panic, but they didn't have much time to do so. As Ashton jumped down in front of the last two ships.
In his fall, he seemed to grab into the air. Space distorted as he pulled it down with his descent, he then flew to the side, still grabbing onto that fragment of space.
In the end, Ashton ended up with a rift in space, spanning well over 300 meters in both height and width.
Then, he quickly created a vacuum of air right in front of it, pulling in the last two ships that hadn't managed to embark on the ark properly yet.
There were many screams, but it only lasted for a minute. As the current was strong enough to pull everyone in quickly.
After which, Ashton used his relic to quickly fly back onto the large relic boat. In doing so, he had exhausted a large amount of his aura.

I always knew Ashton was resourceful...
But this is a lot to fathom. I've seen this man do many things, to the point where you'd think I'd already know his means. At least have a basic grasp on them.
But seeing the scene in front of me makes me reconsider my previous assessment of his strengths.
How exactly did he make such a large ship appear out of nowhere? Where did he hide such a ludicrous and ridiculous amount of Aura?
It flared up completely when he created that strange rip in space.
It gave me a domineering feeling. I was able to handle it well, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that some lesser Nen Users were left traumatized by it.
Thankfully, normal people can't sense any Nen, so they weren't able to notice anything wrong...
Still, at least he still has a limit. I could see the sweat on his brow when he landed on the deck of this large ship.
Still, we aren't safe even now... We still need to get away from this thing. And I doubt we'll be able to scare it away again...
"What's the plan now?" Zeno asked Ashton as the young-looking man approached us.
"Well, now we can run away without leaving anyone behind." Ashton really doesn't like explaining things huh?
Not like we couldn't tell this was the course of action. The actual question is whether or not we can run away from this place...
