A peaceful breeze swept by as a bovine like creature calmly bathing itself in the pool of spirit essence as it gazed toward the sky. They were in a realm called Hell, where the sky was like an endless dark void, which seemed to stretch forever.
*Bang!*
That poor bovine's head exploded as its body subsequently collapsed into the essence pool.
"Clap clap," yes, Jeffrey was saying clap as he applauded ANts Man. Using a 'hand cannon' ANts Man sniped the beast from across the magma lake, which Jeffrey was sure was a great feat.
"Wanna try?" Passing the gun over, Jeffrey accepted the offer. It was hella hot here for some reason, but that was fine, regulating his essence, he cooled himself down.
Apparently, guns were simpler to use than bows, just circulate your essence through it and pull the trigger. Most models tend to use live ammunition, but ANts Man's could just feed off of essence.
Guns apparently had recoil which was when the gun kicks up, which was quite odd, but Jeffrey wasn't going to question it. He wasn't a gun expert. Guns also had much further range compared to bows, basically from what he heard, they were just superior bows.
Mimicking ANts Man's stance as he held onto the gun using both hands, Jeffrey aimed at another beast across the soul lake, fed his essence and pulled the trigger.
*Bang!*
*Plop*
The bullet fired out of the gun, but it didn't quite make it toward the beast. Jeffrey had forgotten to account for the arrow, or rather bullet drop.
"Wanna try again?"
"Mmhm,"
And so Jeffrey had some fun with shooting practice.
It seemed that Jeffrey really was in a different realm. The major giveaway was most certainly the essence. It didn't smell right, like it was polluted, according to ANts Man, the essence around here has always been that way.
The land here was desloate with chaotic essences and cruel savagery all around, not to mention the overabundance of demonic spawn. In fact, they were currently having a shootout with some demons.
"Hey, hey! Buddy, don't rush out there," the two were hiding behind a building as Lily hid in Jeffrey's coat. "You'll be lit up if try somethin' like that," ANts Man shouted, as some bullets plinked off their cover, returning fire, he said again,
"Here, take this,"
Handing over another identical hand cannon to the one he was holding. Why did he have two of them? No, wait, why did he have four of them?
Yup, pulling another three hand cannons out of his vest, each of his hands held one. One may wonder how he has four hands, but as an ANt, a creature with six limbs. He used two of them to stand, thereby having an extra four limbs to use for whatever miscellaneous purpose.
These demons were rather weak, from what he had heard, a singular demon was capable of wiping out settlements and required a platoon of soldiers to exterminate, but then again…
"These are just low level spawns," ANts Man explained, "Do you live under a rock or somethin', this is basic common knowledge,"
"I mean, I lived away from most people,"
"Yeah, I can tell, but surely you would've still encountered demons around,"
By now they had already arrived at the pub, it was located in some obscure location in what could be considered a residential district. The city was quite different to the ones Jeffrey had seen before, for starters, there weren't walls surrounding this city, nor were there any patrols around. It was rather lawless, and the buildings were also very much different to the kind he was accustomed to. Glass was outfitted in basically every building, it would be considered modern by the residents. Must've been expensive, no doubt.
Walking through the steel doors of the pub, Traveller was sitting at the bar counter, helping himself to some alcohol.
At least, I think it was alcohol? The stuff down here was weird.
"Traveller, you got a weird friend,"
Turning around, Traveller stared at ANts Man.
"Wait, he comes from the Corrupt Realm?" he seemed to be in thought before he seemingly emptied his mind,
"Eh, makes sense," Walking behind the bar counter, he asked Jeffrey,
"So, you still want a bow? Or have you changed your mind?"
"I mean, I got the materials, so I might as well get a bow,"
"Well, sure give me a blue candi and I'll research into bows and try to fashion some tech into it, alright? Special service for people like us,"
"Like us?"
"Indeed, the last vestiges of our kind,"
How ominous…
Though…
"I'm sure I'm not the last of my kind,"
"Well, yes, I'm sure there are more of your kind out there, but it would be quite rare, no?"
"I don't think humans are rare,"
"Well, yes, you can find them in all the realms,"
It seemed they weren't on the same page here.
"And I am a human,"
"No, you are not,"
The hell? Did this guy just tell me I'm not human? I'm clearly a human!
"I, am, human," Jeffrey spoke again slowly, perhaps he just didn't hear it correctly, he was an ANt after all.
"No, you, are, not," Mimicking Jeffrey's tone, he too, spoke slowly.
What was this horse shite? Was he really arguing with an ANt?
"Sigh, fine, if I'm not human then what am I, hmm?" Jeffrey said, hoping for this stupid back and forth to be over.
"I dunno,"
Then why the hell was he insisting I wasn't human?!
"It's just, you don't smell human,"
What kind of horse shite reason was that?
"Then what do I smell like?"
"A fallen race,"
How was that a smell? Surely, this guy is screwing with me. The worst part was that Jeffrey couldn't read ANt Man's face, considering he was, well an ANt!
"Actually wait," Leaning over the counter, ANts Man kind of patted Jeffrey with his antennae.
"Hmm, you kinda smell human, but not really,"
*Clap!* Clap!*
Clapping his hands, Traveller finally put an end to this eternal back and forth.
"Alright, alright, Traveller if you insist, but can you deliver it to him?"
Traveller stared silently, but one could tell he was ranting about not being a courier service. After a minute, he waved his hands in farewell, beckoning Jeffrey over, he asked if Jeffrey was ready,
"Ready for wha-"
He should've seen that coming.
