Making his point clear that Jeffrey didn't know how to get to the eastern garrison. Guard Lieutenant Wills assigned a guard to just escort Jeffrey there.
Upon arriving at the eastern garrison, Karl immediately welcomed Jeffrey,
"Good job on passing the exam, and welcome to the eastern garrison, I believe that you'll be able to make the most of your skills here,"
After, Karl brought Jeffrey to meet with the other recruits also assigned to the eastern garrison. The recruits were all relatively young people, though looked to be more experienced when compared to the recruits in the southern garrison. These recruits seemed to have either a mercenary or hunter background. Clearly, more adept for practical work rather than development training.
There were eight recruits here, including Jeffrey.
"Okay, you all are part of the eastern garrison, Jeffrey here will also be your new comrade,"
Afterward, they were split into two groups of four, Karl also told them to settle their team leader today and then giving their guard tunics and tokens, signifying their rank and identity, and led into the barracks to their assigned quarters.
Leaving them, Karl told them that tomorrow they would engage in some group exercises and get them accustomed to their roles around here.
Taking a glance into the quarters, Jeffrey saw two bunk beds, with four lockers in there. He was assigned with two of the others. Men and women were separated into different barracks, and Jeffrey's team included a woman so she was not present in these quarters.
"Ay, Jeff, yeah? Wanna share your story?" a man with scruffy brown hair and a leather jacket, spoke up, trying to break the ice. His name was Bryoni, while the other's name was Marius.
Jeffrey was unsure of how to respond to this question. What story did this guy want?
He wasn't very specific.
"What story?"
"Don't wanna say? It's alright, no need to make things awkward," he put on a knowing expression as if he understood Jeffrey's past.
"Who cares? Let's just meet up and choose a leader," Marius seemed to be more concerned with other matters at the moment.
Leaving their quarters, they eventually found their other teammate, Kelli, loitering around the barracks.
She seemed to be of a hunter background and had a cut across her right cheek. Though it did not damage her appearance but rather make her look ferocious.
Marius immediately inquired if she wanted to be the leader. Marius seemed unused to having a leadership role and wanted to flatter the other by offering so sincerely.
"Sure, if the others agree," she seemed rather indifferent.
"Hold on, buddy. We can't just have any jack be leader, we need to see who has the qualifications," he spoke in a competitive, rather carefree tone.
"Thus, I vote, we have a spar!" this seemed to be his lead up. He just wanted to spar the others.
It was to be expected of a normal, hot blooded mercenary. Always wanting to compare his strength with others.
This suggestion was accepted by the others as none of them were good leader material so having the strongest be leader was the next best option.
Moving to the training grounds, a couple guards could be seen milling about training or just standing around. It was a pretty big training area. Nearly twice the size of the southern garrison training area.
"How should we do this then?" Kelli asked, "Round robin style, or free for all,"
"Let's do a round robin," came Bryoni's reply,
"How about no, that'll take too long," Marius didn't like that idea.
However, Bryoni wanted to have a separate dual against all of them. The two were stuck at an impasse. One wanted one thing while the other wanted another thing. It could only be settled with a group majority. And quickly roping Jeffrey in, Marius had the upper hand in the debate. However, Bryoni still stood a chance if he could make Kelli take his side, though she was indifferent to their battle and remained neutral staying away from their conflict. As a result of this, it was two to one, Bryoni just couldn't hold on.
It was settled, a free for all spar would take place.
Bryoni could spar everyone else in his free time.
