' Is this a dream again? ' I stood up with heavy lidded eyes and saw a bizarre sight. I looks like I was in some sort of hall this time. The walls were made of gold and there are also big pillars made of marble. The only thing difference is that instead of red carpets, the floor was clear like water. I could even see my reflection in it. Overall it has a bluish color like in some parts of the sea.
I have been dreaming a lot this days, possibly because of exhaustion. I am sort of guy who binge- reads whatever he's reading and I've found a good novel today. The past novel I've read was also pretty good but it only has a few chapters so I'm feeling quite lucky to find this one.
It has more than 1000 chapters and so far it's really entertaining. I have started reading it early in the morning till night so that pretty much left me worn out. In fact, I was pretty exhausted that I can even hear words buzzing in my head before I go to sleep.
My dreams are a mix of daily events and things that I have read at that day. Its mostly a bunch of nonsense stuff that you would forget when you fall asleep. I gave a thought ' Why don't I try to take control of my dreams? ' since I heard of Lucid Dreams and all.
Then in my dream, sometimes the me in it stops and has thoughts like this 'well it's just a dream anyways so I won't die even I get caught by this joke of a ghoul right?'
That's all though... I would aware of that it's a dream and forget in the next few seconds. Well, it sometimes results in me completely dominating the dream with some sort of superpower so I guess it has some benefits since I get a pretty enjoyable time when I sleep. It'll be pretty awesome if I can keep my whole consciousness in it though.
Well, let's get back to reality...
'Is this a dream?'
I have just woken up so my head is still fuzzy. My head is still not functioning that well as it even barraged me with those kind of thoughts in just a few seconds.
I pinched my cheeks to help myself to check.
' I can feel pain??? '
There are some times that in your dreams you think that you can feel pain but i just you thinking that and it could not replicate a tenth of the real thing. I pinched myself harder to make sure...
' Ouch! It frigging hurts! It looks like that this is not a dream after all...'
' Okay so currently I am in an unknown place and I don't have a speck of a memory of how the hell I got here. There are two possibilities: that I was kidnapped or... I'm already dead. '
My back was filled with cold sweat. Both are bad possibilities but the first one is obviously better than the latter, since this place could pass as a divine place of judgement with a high grade.
I could say that I'm a good person, but I'm not particularly religious since I still have my doubts and questions.
I sighed... Well there is nothing I could do about it now. Might as well appreciate the divine beauty of this place.
I finally got a good look at my surroundings with a calm heart.
' Well it looks like I'm not alone in here '
I sighed in relief inside my head..
There is another person just a few meters away from me looking just as confused as I am, just a few minutes ago. I hurriedly walked up to him.
" Ummmm. Mi--Mister do you know where we are right now? "
I did not notice this before I got close to him but this guy's huge! He's at least 3 times bigger than I am. He's got black hair with some strands of white, brown eyes, and a well trimmed beard. He also has a serious face and he's currently staring at me right now, making me a bit afraid of him.
" Ummmm. Can you understand me? "
I'm not that good in speaking in English and I haven't really practiced in doing so especially with my low self-esteem and confidence.
" Yes I can. And to answer to your question earlier I also don't know anything about this place. I'm Bernard, what's your name kid? "
Ohhhh! Thank God, He speaks English! We both have different accents but at least we can communicate even with some difficulties.
" Its been rude of me but the my name is Wiles. I offer you my apologies Mister Bernard. "
" Don't mind it. No need for formalities either, especially when we are in this kind of situation. "
" Yes, Sir! "
He seems nice but I sure was nervous. This is my first time talking to a foreigner and my ability to communicate is poor so I was a afraid of offending him. If he punches me, I most likely would fly about a meter or two, knocked out with some broken bones.
He then asked me some questions concerning our situation. I didn't really know better except that there are other people here other than us. He immediately went to other people who have already awoken to gather information. I just quietly followed him from behind...
He talked to other people but his efforts bore no fruit since they did not know anything better than we do. A small group was naturally formed with Bernard as the leader numbering at 15 members.
We discussed about how to proceed about the remaining unconscious people and decided that it'd be best for them to awaken naturally than for us to force them to wake up since they will be more panicked with an unknown person waking them up.
Our job is to help them calm down when they wake up.
Some did panic but with Bernard and the team they successfully managed to calm them down in a just a few minutes. This just proves Bernard's excellent leadership and charisma especially with the language barrier since there are of few people who are isolated because of it.
Still not all of them joined the group a few wanted to be left alone most of them are those who did not know how to speak the universal language. While others just wanted to be left alone I guess?
All of us here numbered exactly a hundred. Most of us are of a different nationality and we are varying in wide range of age. The oldest one I saw was a Grandma about 60 years old at the very least and a boy with the age of 5. The group has now grown larger, multiplied up to 5 times! Totalling up with 79 members. There are only a few unconscious people left.
A few minutes later...
< Skill: ( Language of Babel ) has been acquired... >
Without a prior notice, a sudden toneless voice resonated in my head making my body stiffen up because of the shock I felt.
