Chapter 6 - Flexing and Slip-ups

"Ahhhhhh Stringbean! Perfect timing," Avi said with a wide smile on her face. The students surrounding her drew away from Jensen, making a path for him. The chestnut kid was shaking when he said, "Teach, maybe you shouldn't mess with him. He's been out for scythe wielders since day one and he's pretty strong." As he said this, Jensen pulled out his katana and glared at Avi.

"What the hell are you doing here? Beating up my students to make yourself feel like you have an ounce of strenght?" Avi laughed.

"Those were your kids beating up my precious student? No wonder they were so weak," Avi just stood there cackling at Jensen. "Whoda thought?! Stringbeans a teacher!" As she laughed, Jensen began chanting a strange sentence.

"O fire that creates. Fire that destroys. Grant me your blessing, your power, to strike down my heinous foe." Jensen's blade suddenly ignited, blue flames stretching from the hilt to the tip of the sword. "You might have caught me off guard last time, but now you don't stand a chance." Avi simply stood there and took another swig from flask. One of her students sprinted off yelling, "don't worry teach I'll get the headmaster to come stop this! Just run away while you can." Avi picked up her scythes and coldly began staring down her opponent. Jensen, unable to deal with her nonsense any longer, charged.

Though his blade was now coated in fire, Avi didn't care in the slightest. In order to impress her students, she wanted to end this fight in the flashiest way possible. Plus, Jensen was laughably slow in the eyes of Avi, so she stood her ground when he charged. Jensen thrust his blade towards Avi. As her students screamed for her to watch out, She simply stepped out of the way. Jensen stumbled from surprise as his attack went right past Avi. He whipped around, bringing his sword with him, to find Avi gone from his vision. All he saw was the staff of a scythe balanced perfectly on the ground. That is until he looked up to see Avi, perfectly perched on top of her scythe, preparing to throw her other scythe. Jensen panicked and backpedaled as fast as he could until he heard a loud thunk and ran into something. While focused on the scythe that Avi had prepared to throw, Jensen failed to notice when Avi uprooted and kicked her other scythe with enough force to burrow in the ground behind him. Avi then leapt forward, sailed past Jensen, hooked her leg around the burrowed scythe, hooked Jensens head with her other leg, pinned it against the scythe, and flicked his sword away with her other scythe. Avi then bowed in the air, still holding Jensen in her clutches. She looked up at her shocked students with a huge grin on her face.

"Are min students thoroughly impressed by their teachers glorious skills." Avi unhooked herself from Jensen, passed him his sword, and smacked him on the ass with the staff of her scythe. "I knew you missed me but I'm in the middle of class at the moment. If you wish to continue this over a cup of tea later thats fine by me." Her students watched as Jensen, the notorious bullier, hightailed it out of the practice field right past the headmaster. Darious laughed as he said, "I knew you'd be a trouble maker Avi but sending Jensen running on your first day?"

"You never told me that brat was a teacher here," said Avi as her students hurriedly bowed before Darious. "Oi punks don't bow to this crafty ferret."

"Now now Avi, no need to be so crass. I do remember mentioning Jensen was one of the top ten players of Fallen Tower right? Naturally he would teach at the Academy." As he said that, the bell rang, signaling the transition to the next period.

"Well I've got to run. As per our agreement, you're free for the rest of the day. Feel free to stick around or maybe even delve into a floor or two? I've approved for you to enter the floors of the tower on weekdays, but weekends are always reserved for the top brass to gain experience and explore. Though naturally you'd have to go with a group, so try and find some trustworthy partners. Toodaloo."

"That man never ceases to surprise me." Avi turned and found herself surrounded by her students. A chorus of questions shot at her.

"You know the headmaster? You guys were so casual together?"

"You delve into the tower floors?"

"What kind of agreement did you guys make?"

Avi found the attention oddly heartwarming. "Alright alright I'll answer ya questions in time. For now get going before yur late to the next class." As the students left, the friendly trio looked back at their new teacher in deep admiration. However, there was nothing admirable going on in Avi's brain. Though it had been a long day, it had been a friday. Even though Avi was supposed to meet her new roommates and spend the weekend getting to know them and staying away from the tower floors, she had a different plan in mind. Itching for battle, Avi took another swig from her flask and braced herself for the long dive through the tower floors that she was about to stealthily undertake.

The following sunday late at night. The blond, brown, and chestnut haired trio sat worried in the livingroom of their dorm. The dorm was split up into two rooms with two people each and a common room to socialize in. The three had been friends irl and joined each other in playing Fallen Tower. Since they got sucked into the game, they had been an inseparable group. Now, they were finally going to meet a new face and potentially expand their friend group. The problem was, their supposed roommate, Avidia, never showed up. Even though she was supposed to meet up with them on friday, they hadn't heard a whisper of her whereabouts. Now, the clock had just stricken midnight and class was starting the next day. Seeing as lights out was at ten, the trio were completely dumbfounded by what was going on. That is until they heard a loud bang and looked up to see a horrific sight in the darkness. All three screamed and drew their scythes as a blood soaked figure with glowing eyes and two massive staffs entered the room. The figure took a swig out of a flask, tripped on its own two feet, and dropped its weapons to the floor as it face planted in front of them, splattering blood on the floor in the process. The figure seemed to be muttering about a giant deer and a hundred floors as it tried to roll over onto its back. Once chestnut flicked on the lights, they leaned forward to see a familiar face smiling up at them.

"Teach?!" they all yelled in unison.

"Ahhahhahh kiddos wouldjalookathtat. Cmere ya three." Avi reached out as quick as lightening and wrapped the three of them into a bloody bear hug. "Whoda thunk I'd be roomies with ya ha. The names Avi."

"Hey teach," the blond girl said. "We know who you are, but what are you doing in our room? And why are you covered in blood?"

"Ahhhhh question girl. Clever as always." Avi released her vice grip from the three. "First why dontcha give me yer names since we'll be sharin this place." The three looked at each other in confusion, but gave their names anyways.

"My names Arin," said the scrawny brown haired kid.

"The names Shin," said the long haired chestnut kid.

"I'm Aria," said the blonde haired cute girl. "All of us are 17 year old scythe wielders that have been friends for ages."

All three of them then said in unison.

"EXPLAIN."

"Yeesh noisy nosy kids these days. I'm dual scythe wielder Avi. I guess if you have ta pry ma names actually Avidia. I'm 19 and covered in blood!" Avi looked at their dumbfounded faces and frowned. "I guess I should sober uppa bit for ye guys huh." Avi promptly grabbed her scythe and sunk it through her baggy pants and into her thigh. She shuddered as her appearance slowly shifted back to normal. "Shit that never gets easier." Avidia immediately started rubbing her temples. "Fuck my head." She looked back up at the jaws that were still dropped in front of her. "It seems like I've said a little too much and that ferret of a headmaster has set me up yet again." Avidia stood up, scythe still in her leg. "Arin, Shin, Aria. I'm Avidia. I'm the most powerful player of Fallen Tower by a long shot and I'm leading a double life here to teach you all how to ACTUALLY use a scythe." Avidia ripped the scythe out of her leg, causing a spray of blood to splash onto the trio. "Now lets sneak over to the nearest bathhouse and get ourselves cleaned up yeah?"
