Chapter 21 - Dispersion

Screaming, she got up and ran after Leila – A corpse! A corpse! Oh! Disgusting!

Felipe and Matheu ran to the body, and as soon as they turned it over, they walked away in fright. The body was completely dry, it looked like just skin and bones.

Celine quickly looked away, Leila felt something rise in her throat, then walked to the other side of the room with a pale face.

Harumi didn't let go of her, going along and pulling Celine too – Don't look at this.

Nevra also looked away, his head seemed to be throbbing hard, closing his eyes, he tried his best to suppress the tightness he felt, there was something wrong with his body… again.

– I can't recognize the body… – Felipe muttered.

Matheu stood up, holding his body, Raphael looked at him – What are you doing?

– Leaning it against the wall. Judging by his clothes… he's a fourth-grade student – He pulled the corpse and propped it against the wall.

Leila leaned both hands on the wall, trying to relieve the urge she felt, while Harumi was in shock for having touched that thing.

Celine didn't look any different from them, it was the first time she had seen a lifeless body, or in this case, without anything.

Felipe pursed his lips, muttering – There's nothing…

– Do you think that was the thing that did it? – Nevra asked, finally getting a good look at her body.

Matheu crouched down at his side and then moved his hands through his clothes.

The others looked at him with strange expressions, then he took something out of the corpse's pocket. It looked like a metal token with a rectangular shape.

– Oh! His ID! – Felipe said when he realized what it was about.

Matheu checked the name, and as soon as he did, he took a deep breath.

– What? Who is it? – Raphael crouched down next to him, taking the identification from his hands and reading the name.

– Christopher Ferri… who is this?

Felipe sighed in fright. Just as most of the students here were descendants of important figures and noble families, this one was no different. Christopher Ferri, as his surname informs, is one of the firstborns of the Ferri family from the kingdom of Baria.

Baria was dominated by the shapeshifter race, and although it had a single leader, there were dozens of different types of shapeshifters living in a single kingdom.

Ferri was one of the noble families of Baria, as well as the Chevalier family, of Drazhan and Matheu, and many other families.

– Wait… that doesn't make sense… – Matheu said suddenly.

– What does not make sense? – Celine approached with curiosity, this time, completely ignoring the body.

– Christopher is a shapeshifter, he has no magic of his own, why would the creature take him?

Felipe frowned – You're right… – Taking the paper he had found in the library, he read it again.

Seeing Felipe's face full of doubts, Raphael asked – Is there anything other than that creature here?

– I don't know, and I'm not sure if I want to find out now – Felipe stood up – There's nothing written here…

Celine glanced at the paper, maybe if she could take a look, she could discover something. Felipe turned to her – Miss Celine, is there anything out there?

Celine looked at him, and then towards the door – I don't see anything.

Felipe nodded – We need to find Thamy and Ikuto.

– Do you want to leave now? That thing is still out there – Harumi approached, holding Celine's arm.

Matheu sighed, getting up – We have no option, we will have to leave, one time or another.

Raphael stood up, turning to Nevra – Nevra?

Hearing Raphael, the others turned to Nevra. He was pale, sweating profusely, and seemed to be breathing with difficulty.

Raphael ran to him, supporting him on himself – Felipe, take a look at him.

Felipe approached, checking his body, no injuries. That thing must have put something in Nevra's body, maybe that was how it managed to capture its victim – I can't identify the problem...

Matheu helped Raphael hold Nevra – Let's find Thamy.

Felipe nodded, going to the door – We can't use the Tasvali family amulet, it attracts too much attention, how will we open the door?

Raphael pursed his lips, thinking for a while, he sighed – Nevra, can you break the lock?

The others looked at him in confusion, Nevra was a pure Water Mage, how was he going to break the lock?

Nevra looked up with difficulty, breathing heavily, he raised his hand and touched the door. A few minutes passed without anything happening.

– Raphael, how could Nevra break it? – Matheu asked, unable to bear the delay any longer, and as soon as he asked, the door suddenly began to freeze. Raphael didn't expect that he would freeze the entire door.

The expressions of everyone there were of doubt, a little lost. Leila approached the door and touched it, the door completely fell apart, with only pieces of it remaining on the floor.

She then turned to them – Any other surprises for today?

Raphael walked out of the room, with the help of a somewhat stunned Matheu he took Nevra to the corridor, speaking while looking around – It's a long story, I'll explain later, we need to go quickly!

The girls looked at Felipe, who looked at them equally lost.

Harumi turned to Celine – Can you see where they are?

Celine was stared at by everyone again, leaving the room, she looked around. There was nothing, a little nervous in her mind, thinking that everyone there was trusting her to help Nevra. Not letting any doubt or hesitation show in her expression, Celine decided to trust her instincts, hoping it was right.

She started walking in one direction, and given the events of that night, the others blindly trusted her senses.

After locking them in the room, Ikuto ran down the hallway, knowing he would be followed by the creature. Before she turned into the corridor they were in, Ikuto hid behind one of the pillars, trying to breathe silently.

A few seconds had passed without him hearing anything, confused, he peered into the hallway. The creature was standing in front of the room he had locked the others in. Taking a deep breath, he came out of his hiding place. Looking directly at the creature, he ignited a flame in his palm.

The creature turned around and then began to slowly walk towards him. Ikuto then started walking backward, not taking his eyes off that thing for even a second, and as soon as the creature got far enough away from the door, he turned and ran, doing his best to keep it following him.

Ikuto ran as fast as he could, while desperately thinking that he hadn't lived long enough. 'Where is Thamy?'

As soon as he turned into another hallway, his question was answered. Thamy seemed to be heading in that direction, holding his arm. They both seemed surprised to see each other and as soon as Thamy saw the creature coming right behind Ikuto, he narrowed his eyes, running toward him.

Ikuto pursed his lips and sped up even more, when they were close enough, Thamy suddenly disappeared, Ikuto smiled and lowered himself at once, sliding across the floor.

The creature, which was still chasing him, was confused by his action, and when he least expected it, Thamy appeared right in front of him, with a silver staff in his hand. He didn't release any magic, but instead hit the creature with his staff.

Again, the creature was thrown away, breaking yet another wall with an explosion.

Ikuto ran up to Thamy, stopping next to him. They looked to where the creature was thrown. Expecting some suspicious movement, after a while, they looked at each other, both breathing heavily due to tiredness.

– Defeated? – Ikuto asked.

Thamy looked at him without responding for a few more seconds, then turned to look at the pile of rubble again – Scatter…

Ikuto touched his arm and Thamy hissed in pain, his staff crumbled into dust when Thamy dropped it in the air and brought his hand to his arm. With a frown on his face, Ikuto said – You know you're not in a position to do that at the moment.

Before Thamy could respond, the pile moved, Ikuto, indignant, pulled Thamy behind him – What's wrong with this thing?

Thamy sighed – We have a chance now, it is weaker.

Ikuto didn't take his eyes off the rubble, nodding with a tired expression – Right...

Moving away, he let the creature focus on Thamy again.

As soon as the creature stood up, it looked at Thamy, seeming worried about his movements, and when it saw him turn invisible again, it narrowed its eyes, trying to find any sign of magic.

That's what it see... Thamy smiled, still invisible he released some magic, attracting the creature, which attacked him brutally and very quickly. A little scared, Thamy dodged, saving his magic again. 'It's fast'. Looking at Ikuto, he saw him move his mouth, he was still casting the spell.

Taking a deep breath, he repeated what he had done previously a few more times, making the creature even more angry. When he thought it was enough, he looked at Ikuto again, it should be time.

He then appeared before the creature, conjuring his staff again. The creature seemed to be radiating hatred and also seemed hungry. Thamy smiled, releasing a little more power in front of it, like an affront.

As soon as it moved towards him, Thamy, with a serious expression, held his staff tightly. And again, deceiving the creature, he disappeared, but this time, He didn't leave the place. The creature turned, thinking he would appear behind it, and when it noticed the trap, it looked straight ahead again. With a swing of his staff, Thamy threw it against the wall again.

And before the creature got up, Thamy shouted – Ikuto! Dispersal!

Nodding, Ikuto pricked his finger with his nail and drew in the air with his blood, which glowed like fire. Little by little, what appeared to be a seal was formed, Ikuto directed it towards the creature and the seal disappeared from his hands, reappearing on the ground below the creature.

The seal was immense, Thamy then advanced into it, still holding his staff, he muttered the last sentences of the spell that Ikuto had uttered previously. The creature, seeing an opening to kill him, advanced towards him. Thamy stared at it, and when it was about to touch him, he raised his staff and hit the ground, Ikuto and Thamy then shouted in unison – Scatter!

Time seemed to have stopped inside the seal, the creature, frozen in its attacking position, began to burn. The seal glowed brightly.

Ikuto, outside the seal, walked towards Thamy, pulling him out, and then, raising his palm to the creature, he began to slowly close it.

The creature began to scream desperately, its lamentation was so sharp that Thamy had to cover his ears. Ikuto, closing his eyes, endured what he could, and as soon as he closed his hand into a fist, the sound ceased.

Where the creature was supposed to be, there was a pile of dust. Thamy sighed, moving his hand, he dispersed the rest completely.

– Are you alright? – He asked Ikuto. And seeing him nod, he stood up. Seeing the others at the end of the hall.

Leila hurried towards them – Are you two okay?

They both nodded, being suddenly pulled into a hug, Leila didn't know about the injury on Thamy's arm, but he tolerated it.

Harumi was the second to approach, and as soon as Leila released the two, she hugged Ikuto.

Thamy smiled slightly, then looked at the others, his smile disappeared completely – What happened?

Felipe went ahead – We don't know, I can't identify what's wrong with his body – Raphael and Matheu took Nevra to him.

Thamy looked at Nevra, then raised his eyes and asked Celine – Did you see that thing do something to Nevra, what exactly was it?

Celine approached, pointing to Nevra's shoulder – I saw a thin line come out of the creature and stick to Nevra, a thin line of magic seemed to be being sucked away at that moment.

– Did you see anything else?

Celine stopped, thoughtful, trying to remember what she had seen – The thin line of magic was silver, but it seemed surrounded by another dark line that circled it.

Thamy pursed his lips. Ikuto suddenly chimed in – It was taking away magic while replacing it with something else.

Thamy nodded slightly, at this point, Nevra was already unconscious – You all go back to the dormitory, Ikuto, take them back, and I'll take Nevra to the infirmary.

Raphael, who had noticed that Thamy had been wounded looked back all the time, watching when Thamy rose weakly and put Nevra on his back, heading toward the infirmary, he was sure Thamy was injured…

As they ran, Celine felt again the same strange sensation, the creature had already been defeated, why? They finally went out of college, and in one of the corridors that they passed, a small shadow moved, suddenly transforming into a man with long silver hair and dressed in rags, who looked dazed as he looked towards where the youths had disappeared…

Lowering his head he smiled strangely – I finally found you
