Chapter 6 - Totally a Saint (5)

"Sh**, what did he mean...?" Merui bit his nail, his eyes were even more haggard.

Yesterday, he found himself in the midst of Yet another assassination attempt, and barely managed to scrape by.

As his consciousness was fading, the sounds of footsteps came closer.

"Urgh….there was another one…?" He weakly thought as he prepared to meet his end.

Instead, the footsteps stopped and suddenly, his limp body was hoisted over the shoulder of a man in a black robe.

They then walked for a bit before the stranger stopped.

He was then put down into a small cave as a familiar voice started saying something. However, his consciousness was already fading away.

I returned back from my little day trip and threw my disguise off before changing into comfortable pajamas.

Seeing how Anaiel seemed to want to go to sleep, Elliot warned the other servants to not disturb him.

Seeing how a few weeks had gone by without anything changing, Anaiel thought he was in the clear.

He was about to just laze around like all the other days, but Elliot had informed him that the imperial family had sent his family a letter, stating for Anaiel to head over to the castle immediately.

Seeing how urgent the letter was, Anaiel got into simpler clothes as he hopped in the brilliant white and gold carriage with the Pauden crest on it.

Though his family used to be a lower ranking Baron, having been giving birth to the next Saint, they were promptly appointed to Duke by the King in order to gain their support.

After some time, they arrived at the Imperial Palace. It was just as grandiose as the name implied, the garden surrounding the palace were filled with exotic flowers and the fountain in the middle was larger then 3 houses.

Knights were already stationed there to greet Anaiel.

"My apologies Saint Anaiel, we don't have much time to explain the emergency so please just hastily follow us!" The knight's leader bowed deeply before hurriedly leading Anaiel towards the inner palace.

Anaiel, after straining his poor stamina, finally arrived to a room filled with countless of nurses but not a doctor was in sight.

"Please treat the Crown Prince! He is in urgent condition due to an assassination plot and his Majesty promised to reward the Pauden family with great riches if His Royal Highness is cured!" The knight leader kneeled.

Lin bit his lip. He was still trying to get a hang of magic, and wasn't that confident. He was also in shock with the sudden turn of events.

"…I'll try." Lin wanted to ask what had happened to the Imperial Doctors, but he refrained and went towards the sick patient.

On the marvelous bed, a handsome blond haired man was laying down with his eyes closed. His breathing was unstable as sweat constantly dropped down from his scorching forehead.

"What is the cause of this?" Anaiel asked.

"An arrow shot out from behind and lightly stabbed into His Royal Highness's back. We suspect an exotic poison because of how little information we currently have."

Anaiel turned back to the man and focused his magic to his hands.

The only thing he knew for sure was imagination was key to casting magic. As long as you had the idea down, it would cast with enough mana.

Lin thought back of a tv show he had watched as a kid. The healer of the hero's party used her divine aura to cure the hero's illness. It was a beautiful shimmer of light that cleansed and healed all the wounds on his body.

Imagining that same shimmer, a ray of light came out of Anaiel's palms as it slowly entered the Crown Prince's body.

He felt all his mama slowly flow out of him as the amount of magic power increased. Just as he was about to run out of mana, the Crown Prince suddenly snapped his eyes open, glaring at Anaiel.

"Eek." Anaiel shrunk back from the Crown Prince, but because he had consumed so much mana, his body had no more strength left.

Just as he was about to fall back, a rough arm clenched his clean folded collar of his shirt.

The bloody jewel like eyes of the Crown Prince made Lin's hair stand up on end. As the knights suddenly cheered for his Highness's recovery behind them, the Prince leaned his mouth towards Anaiel's ear.

"Who are you? I know for sure you aren't that bastard Anaiel so don't try to fool me." His pretty thin lips turned up into a smirk as he saw Anaiel's expression immediately turn pale.

"I'll let it go this time in thanks for you saving me, but I will say something if I meet you again." He laughed lightly and jumped out of the bed he used to be dying in a few moments ago.

Anaiel slouched down with his knees, his face still pale from the sudden interrogation from the Prince. Behind him, he heard the faint voices of the Leader of the Imperial Knights urging the Prince to go back and lay in bed.

However he didn't pay attention to that currently, as he fainted onto the floor due to mana exhaustion.
