Chapter 22 - That’s It?

Whoa!

Did another big shot just drop in?!

Most who often watched outdoor streams would know that like CE, Zaun Gotta Run was a generous donor when it came to outdoor streams. Since it was a lady's account and her profile picture was cute, her presence was especially attention-grabbing since there were not many ladies who stood at the top of Tigerfish.

Still, there were those who claimed that the account actually belonged to a man, or was another guild's account used for gathering popularity.

Be that as it may, Zaun Gotta Run usually hung around the major streamers' channels who only went outdoors to chase skirts and make friends. This was the first time she was seen at the wilderness genre.

Nonetheless, it was fifteen Super Rockets, meaning a total of thirty-thousand dollars!

As the special effects of the gifts filled the screen, everyone kept typing live comments such as 'awesome' and 'Sir Kui, the God of War', instantly increasing the trending rate of the livestream channel up to a hundred thousand.

The number of concurrent viewers had also long since exceeded a thousand!

[Beep! You have completed the first System request: Exceed more than 1,000 viewers. Rewards gained: 200 Hunt Points!]

Completed?

Wang Kui was distracted by reflex at the sound of the System Notification in his head.

"Grr… Grr…"

And in that instant, the wolfdog clenched its teeth and seized the opening, flailing its head violently in resistance.

"Trying to bite me, beast?!"

Feeling the unusual movement right then, Wang Kui's expression turned fierce. Raising his right fist, he firmly punched the wolfdog in the head!

Pow! Pow!

After a few punches, the wolfdog stopped moving, either because it was dazed from the punches, or it was scared. In the end, it was a mid-sized animal weighing less than 30kg, and no matter how strong its muscles were, it would never be a match for a large creature weighing up to seventy kilograms!

[Hahaha! It gave up already?]

[That's it? And I was just thinking how fierce it was. In the end, it's cowed since Old Kui is so fierce!]

Watching as the wolfdog gave up on resisting, Wang Kui shifted his position so that his kneecap kept it pinned down by its nape and body before taking out the final section of the paracord to tie it up!

As long as the wolfdog's head was controlled, the beast was as insignificant as a toothless tiger.

Soon, he had tied up the wolfdog's limbs with a death knot before tying its mouth.

"Grr…"

There was wild rage in the wolfdog eyes. As if having foreseen its ending, its teeth were gnashing loudly as it watched Wang Kui's large hand descend ever so slightly!

Smack!

Wang Kui swung a palm at it. "Move again, why don't you?!"

The wolfdog promptly went still.

[Hahaha! It's just like when my dad hits me for not doing my homework!]

[Wolfdog: Sigh! In the end, a dog has to suffer everything!]

Seizing the moment as the dog stayed still, he promptly bound the wolfdog by the snout, looping his rope a dozen times around it and tying it into a cone.

Then, once Wang Kui let go…

Rustle…

The wolfdog began to flail around over the grass like a goldfish thrown up to shore. However, no matter how much force it used, it was unable to free itself from the dead knots.

After all, are paracords that could carry weights of up to 550 pounds that easily snapped?

There was no way that Wang Kui, a professional hunter, would commit such an amateur mistake when it came to dealing with his quarry!

He then picked up his camera.

The incessant gifts and live comments wrong-footed him for a moment. Watching as the screen was filled with comments of 'Sir Kui', he waved his hand. "I'm nothing that impressive. I have already told everyone from the start that as long as keep yourself mentally composed and fearless, most humans can defeat a wolf under most circumstances, let alone a dog."

"The condition for that, however, is that you must understand how they attack. Canines are different from felines because their claws can't be retracted, but it is not really sharp, which is why it would mostly attack by mauling instead of scratching. Moreover, their rear limbs are less dynamic, and they are not good at jumping, which limits them to three ways of attacking prey."

"You would be able to guard yourself well should you keep an eye on your crotch. Naturally, canines have their own advantage, and that is endurance. While humans are also a beast of endurance, they are better at running and can last longer in a fight. We need to use our advantage, which is short bursts of strength and speed to end things quickly."

Most of the audience understood that in this fight, the hunter had overwhelmed the hunted with his knowledge!

Certainly, when you fully understood how your opponent attacks, you could counter each of its blows and not lose!

Following that, Wang Kui dismantled his trap and packed up.

Picking up his spear and taking off the flint edge, Wang Kui was about to tie the wolfdog to the rod, carry it off the mountain, and hand it to the local police.

However, just as he was about to hang the wolfdog on the rod, its wounds made him pause.

While he had presumed it to be signs of torture by the wolfdog's master, that did not seem to be the case upon closer look.

"These wounds do not seem manmade…"

Wang Kui stroked it lightly, and the wolfdog flinched twice by relfex from the pain.

Aside from the two thin, long cuts which Wang Kui had inflicted on its rear limbs and back, the other wounds were all lacerations.

"You can see many severed muscle fibers on the flaps outside the flesh wound. They are extremely irregular and do not resemble wounds from a whip or a sharp object… instead, it resembles bite wounds!"

Bite wounds?

What was going on?! Could the dog's master have been biting the dog too?!

Was that not too freakish?!

"Could it have ran into wolves?"

Wang Kui muttered to himself and shook his head to perish the thought. "No, most of these wounds were recently opened. Judging from the scabs on the edge, they were inflicted three or four days ago. Moreover, that hole on its front limb did not reach any tendons, whereas a wolf's teeth would have reached an artery…"

"Furthermore, wolves hunt in packs, and there is no way it could have escaped… The mauling incident occurred three or four days ago as well…"

Everyone listened to his narration and realized that something was wrong too.

"Remember the dog poo I found before?"

Wang Kui suddenly recalled. "There was animal fur inside that indicated it was eaten two or three days ago, and there was a hare's head inside the hollow tree. It wouldn't have hunted the hare immediately after it had just eaten the child, just as it would not be hungry until now…"

"That is why I'm sure that only one wolfdog was attacking the boy. This one probably fought the other wolfdog to protect him and promptly ran off when other people stumbled upon them. On the other hand, the wolfdog that had the killing intent was reluctant to give up on its prey, and was therefore killed right there!"

A plot twist?!

[So, this is a good dog?]

[Wolfdog: Sorry, I'm an undercover agent!]

[But it doesn't look like a good boy from where I'm standing!]

[That is actually hard to prove without any CCTV footage, huh?]

[But what would the cops do to the dog if the wrong idea persists?]

***

There were all sorts of live comments at the livestream channel, and Wang Kui turned to glance at the wolfdog which was tied to the ground and bleeding profusely before he sighed, "Once verified, this case will probably be concluded with euthanasia…"
