"He hasn't spoken to you at all?" She asks, seeming rather shocked. I shake my head, thinking of the intimidating man that saved me. Though undeniably attractive, he was rather... how would I put it... scary? Every time I see him my body tensed up, and my heart races.
"He's probably still furious at your father, which is understandable, and he doesn't want to take it out on you. It also doesn't help that it's been the first time he's seen you in many years, and you looked badly beaten up. He's probably just trying not to scare you."
Scare me? It's too late for that. And what did she mean by him seeing me after many years? I've never even met him?
I'm about to ask the blonde, but her phone rings. She pulls it out of her pocket, sighs, then answers it.
"What is it? I'm pretty busy at the moment." She asks impatiently, clearly annoyed at the person on the other end. I can hear a faint voice in the other end, and purposely block it out, seeing as it's rude to eavesdrop.
"Really? Right fucking now?"
I look at her as she hangs up, not even bothering to say her farewells. She slips the device back into her pocket before giving me a small smile.
"I'm afraid our meeting is cut short. My mate apparently needs my help down in the kingdom, seeing as most of our guards are busy. I'll see you later." She hugs me, sort of shocking me, before she walks down the long corridor, her heels making satisfying clicks against the marble floor.
I bite my lip, looking around at the now empty corridor, devoid of all life apart from myself, there aren't even any guards. But seeing as Marlowe just said that many guards are occupied at the moment, I'm not very surprised.
I decide to take this free time of mine, and look out of the large window to my left. I knew the Cedarian Kingdom was beautiful, but I never imagined a place run by such... intimidating creatures would be so magnificent. I look over the dark ocean waters, leaning against the wall slightly. I'm too wrapped up in my own world that I don't hear anyone approaching.
"Beautiful, isn't it?"
