"I don't like this man." Ash paced back and forth beside Kodi's truck. They were on a hidden dirt track leading into a forest that nobody ever went into for fear of the rumours circulating it. Anyone who enters never returns.
Many believe it is because the forest is so dense and those entering get lost and perish. It was once a test of bravery for youngsters—the deeper they went past the trees, the more respect they earned from their friends. Fortunately, the dried bloodstains, forgotten backpacks, and a weathered, moss-covered collapsed tent, usually sent the teenagers running away before they could uncover the true cause of so many disappearances.
"I didn't take you for a pussy," Kodi murmured, leaning against the truck's door and glaring into the darkness.
"I'm not!" Ash shot a glare in Kodi's direction. "You got away from them, from this lifestyle and now you're returning to them. Is it really worth it?"
