In a certain region of the forest...
Sunrise had risen on the desolate forest. Getting rid of the remnants of night.
On a certain twisted tree is a boy who is panting heavily trying to catch his breath.
"Haaaaah, well it certainly isn't easy running through a forest in the middle of the night." I look back from where I came from then sit down on the tree to rest.
Seems like those assassins aren't chasing me anymore. I wonder why? I escape my thoughts and come back to reality.
Damn, it isn't easy being in a 10 year old body. No matter how much I try, my coordination with my limbs is not up to par compared to my previous life. If my previous body was 100% efficient, then my new body is 65% efficient. It frustrates me to no end that I can't raise it immediately. Given enough time I'm sure I'll back to normal but that's the resource I'm lacking right now.
My body is like a ticking time bomb. Given the status this body is in right now, I might even collapse due to exhaustion anytime. I myself am surprised at how I made it this far.
Sigh. I take a deep breath to quell my emotions. If I can't stay calm in these type of circumstances, it would be the end of me.
As soon as I start calming down, I start to notice my surroundings. I never realized it before. Maybe it was due to the chase, or the adrenaline rushing to my head but this forest was making my hair stand on end.
My body was shivering so much as if warning me that imminent danger can occur anytime. The immense fear built up in my chest made it hard for me to breath.
This sort of feeling was not new for me as I felt it in my previous life. But it isn't something I could get used to right away.
"Breathe Sky. Breathe". I mutter to myself trying to keep my fear and emotions from bursting.
After I took a few more breaths, I could think more clearly than before.
"Ehh??!!"
As soon as I calm my emotions, I notice some of the fog in my head start to clear up. New information quickly fills my brain. I stood there in a daze for a couple of minutes before coming out of my reverie.
I'm not sure if I should be happy or just cry. The new information wasn't about Sky's memories. It was about that technique that damn 'thing' gave me, Dream Devourer.
According to the information, Dream Devourer is a technique used to cultivate an object called a 'core'. For one to start using the technique, one must use something called 'Revanm'.
Hm?? Revanm?? What's that? Is it a type of resource in this world?..
The information introduces new terms I've never heard before. 'Core' and 'Revanm' never existed on Earth. I am now left with more and more questions.
What type of crap is this??!!
I review the information once again as to see if I can find an answer. As I go over it once more, a few tad bits that escaped me the first time appear.
"So it's not just a technique to cultivate a core, but also specializes in something?" I murmured to myself.
Apparently, not only is Dream Devourer used to cultivate, but also has a specialization unique to itself. Just like the name, it devours dreams.
Huh, what a vague description. What does it mean devours dreams? And if I do devour dreams, what happens then? And wh..
As I was lost in my thoughts, the sound of grumbling woke me from my train of thought. I look around for the source only to come to my body. That's right, I haven't eaten in days.
I get up from my spot and head out to carefully look for food. That dangerous feeling has not come to pass and is still haunting me each second. It was only getting worse the more I walked.
As I move a bush, fruits hanging from a tree appear in my vision. To call it a fruit might be an overstatement. The fruit itself was black in color and had the shape of a rock. Who knows, it might be poisonous. At this point I don't have much of a choice.
I go up to it and stuff one in my mouth. Right as it touched my tongue, it melted real fast and became a liquid.
"Delicious!!!"
Surprisingly it tasted like a mix of fish and pork?? I start grabbing more and stuffed them in my mouth.
As I was enjoying my dinner, my danger levels immediately peaked. I followed my instincts and ducked.
When I looked up, the tree that was in front of me was shattered in half. The other half was nowhere to be seen. I turn around only for me to see a creature. It had spikes all over it's body and had the frame of a bear. The most significant part of it's body was the spike on it's forehead. Once a few seconds, there would be a black current running through it.
It looked at me in a mocking manner as if it was playing with it's food.
Before I had a chance to think, my body moved.
