Chapter 884 - Chapter 884 - The Dream

Laila did have a dream.

In the dream, she went back to her school days. Perhaps that was the most comfortable time in her previous life. As a top student, she was seen as a promising talent by her teachers and was considered a future great director by her classmates.

Many students from the acting and literature departments often sought opportunities to network with her, hoping that she would look out for them once she became a director.

Back then, she also had a vague romantic interest. That senior, who always seemed to glow softly in her eyes, would make her day whenever they bumped into each other.

In the dream, Laila once again brushed past that senior. He still walked towards her, radiating brilliance. But this time, instead of just smiling and walking past, he stopped as she walked by him.

"Hello," he spoke.

"?"

"I like you. Would you go out with me?"

"!" She was stunned, seemingly unable to believe what she heard, "Are you talking to me?"

The senior smiled: "Yes. I've noticed you for a long time. Would you like to be with me?"

Laila in the dream was shocked, but she didn't feel the joy she expected. She remembered having some special feelings for the senior, but why did she feel guilty instead of happy when she heard the confession? It was as if she had forgotten something very important, and that forgotten thing was the reason for her guilt.

What was it?

"Can you tell me your answer?" The senior smiled gently, with confidence, as if he was sure he wouldn't be rejected.

"Thank you for your feelings, but I can't accept. Goodbye." Laila turned and walked away.

The senior called out to her from behind: "Why?"

"I don't know, but I know you're not him."

"Who is he?"

Yes, who is he? Laila in the dream couldn't remember that person, she couldn't even remember if such a person existed. But it didn't stop her from being resolute.

She turned back, giving the senior a smile: "He's someone very important to me."

As soon as she finished speaking, an image appeared in her heart.

Roy!

It was Roy! It turned out to be him—

With realization, Laila slowly opened her eyes, waking up from the dream with a smile.

She didn't know why she had such a dream, perhaps she had some "unfinished wishes" from her previous life? The only flutter of the heart she had in her previous life seemed to disappear before it even started.

Maybe deep down she always wondered, what if she hadn't been so focused on movies, learning everything about filmmaking, what if she had pursued that vague romantic interest? With her good grades, talent, and decent looks, it would have been easy for her to chase after someone, right?

What would have happened if she had gotten together with that senior and succeeded in staying together? Becoming a wife, a mother, thinking every day about what to cook for dinner, what clothes her husband and child should wear tomorrow, whether it's time to pay the utility bills again?

Such a life would be mundane yet warm, but it wasn't the life she aspired to.

She loved movies, couldn't resist the allure of cinema, and couldn't contain the excitement and joy that surged in her heart when creating stories. She didn't know what she would have become if she had continued like that in her previous life. Maybe she would have lost her fighting spirit due to a failed movie and returned to the TV industry.

Maybe she wouldn't even want to shoot TV dramas anymore and would simply go back to her hometown to get married and have children. Or perhaps she would reignite her fighting spirit and continue to strive for new movies.

With her personality, she would probably choose the latter in the end. Then she would hit the wall and not give up, knowing how difficult the road ahead was, but still follow it.

In life, you have to live for yourself at least once, right?

She sat up, used the remote to open the curtains, and realized that the sun was still in the sky. If it weren't for the fact that it was sunset before she slept and now it had become sunrise, she would have thought she hadn't slept for long.

"Gurgle," her stomach protested.

"..." Is this what he meant by saying he would wake her up for dinner? Does he love her, or is he trying to starve her to death and then find a new girlfriend?

Whether it was the loudness of her stomach or telepathy, just as she was about to get out of bed to find something to eat, the door was quietly cracked open.

"You're awake?" Seeing Laila sitting on the bed, Roy came in.

Looking at the tray in his hands, Laila raised an eyebrow: "Is this my dinner?"

Roy smiled, arranging a spot for the tray as he said, "I was going to wake you, but you looked so cute sleeping that I couldn't bear to."

Well, Laila, being a sucker for good looks, really couldn't stay mad at that face, especially when he was also complimenting her.

Seeing her start breakfast, Roy sat beside her with a smile. He had only told her half the story. He did want to wake her for dinner, but after sneaking a couple of kisses and seeing her not wake up, he knew she was really tired. She was sleeping so soundly, so sweetly, how could he allow himself to be the one to disturb her rest?

So he let her sleep until she woke up naturally, then prepared breakfast, waiting for her to wake up so she could eat. He was just watering the flowers in the garden outside when he saw the curtains in her room pulled up and guessed she was probably awake, so he immediately warmed up the milk and sandwich to bring to her.

Laila glanced at the clock: "You should have woken me. There's a meeting this morning." She rarely ran late, and if she did, she would let someone know in advance. Demi, not having received a message from her, must be worried, right?

Seeing her about to get up, Roy pressed her back down: "Don't worry, your secretary already called. Knowing you were resting, she said she would reschedule the meeting for another time. You have a good secretary."

"Not bad," Laila's lips curled up with a hint of pride. Speaking of which, Demi could also be considered one of her achievements. She transformed her from a mere "flower vase" into the capable all-around secretary she is now. Originally, she kept Demi for her looks, but now she has become indispensable to her.

No wonder there are reports that women are more resilient than men. When faced with setbacks, men might break down, but women endure and continue to strive to live on. Every woman who lives life on her terms deserves respect, doesn't she?

Roy couldn't stand to see her with that expression. If she wasn't holding a tray and eating breakfast, he might have pounced on her already. How could she be so adorable? Leonardo always said she was terrifying, but in his eyes, no woman could be more adorable than her.

As long as you get to know her, you'll discover the intoxicating soul within her body. At least, the web woven by that soul has firmly caught his heart, and he can no longer escape.
