The filming is still ongoing.
The Joker's despicable actions finally angered an elderly gentleman. While others cowered, he stood up and said, "We don't buy into the villain's tricks!"
Roy, playing the Joker, casually replied while chewing on something, "You know? You remind me of my father."
At this point, he still appeared somewhat dangerous, but in the next moment, his expression changed. He placed his hand on the man's head and gestured with a knife in front of him.
"Cut!" Laila called out satisfied. "That's a wrap for this scene. Get ready for the next one."
Normally, the crew would follow her command at this point, preparing for the next scene by touching up makeup, adjusting lighting angles, and so on. However, even after she had spoken for over ten seconds, no one had come over. It was then that she noticed something was off in the atmosphere on set; it seemed too quiet.
She looked up and glanced behind her, seeing the crew members standing around as if in a daze, she furrowed her brow in confusion. "What's wrong? Is there an issue?"
Her words snapped the dazed crew members back to reality, and they all suddenly began acting busy, each attending to their tasks.
"What's wrong with them?" Laila asked, puzzled.
Nolan walked over to her and nodded towards Roy, who was having his makeup touched up. "What can we do? It's all thanks to your friend here."
His comment only puzzled Laila further. "What's wrong with Roy?"
Nolan shook his head. "The youngest Oscar winner, he really deserved that award. His talent is just too incredible." Even someone like him, who was observing from the sidelines, got goosebumps from Roy's portrayal of the Joker. He believed that once the film was released, fans would scream for this kind of villainous boss.
Laila seemed to understand. She glanced at where Roy was and said, "He hasn't reached his limit yet."
"What? You want to get him another Oscar?" Nolan chuckled. "Unfortunately, the lead role this time is Christian."
Laila raised an eyebrow at him. "Awards for acting aren't just for leads."
Nolan twitched, seeming to realize she had ambitions for even a Best Supporting Actor award. Just judging from Roy's performance earlier, he truly deserved such an award. However, being the youngest Oscar winner, why would he compete for a supporting actor award? Wouldn't that be beneath him?
Laila had no such concerns. In her eyes, no Oscar award was redundant. There are some differences between playing a lead and a supporting role. You can't be too over-the-top; you shouldn't steal the show too obviously, to avoid having your scenes cut just to highlight the lead.
Well, that was a joke. But there was a similar meaning behind it. In any case, a good supporting role isn't as simple as one might imagine.
The crew was indeed shocked by Roy's acting just now. The image of the Joker being funny was too deeply ingrained in their minds, so when they saw the performance just now, which was full of evil and neuroticism, they were a bit slow to react.
If it weren't for constantly repeating "The Joker is Roy, The Joker is Roy" in their minds, they might have forgotten that behind the face covered in white paint was their beloved Roy Seasonstar.
What a magical performance, to instantly immerse the viewer in his rhythm, dancing along with the melody he set.
This was the level of an Oscar-winning performance! It was simply shocking!
It was because the performance was so shocking that the crew didn't even hear the director's words and stood dumbfounded for over ten seconds before finally snapping out of it.
Understanding the reason for their stunned expressions, Laila felt not only amused but also a rising sense of pride. The step-by-step growth of Roy made her proud, and just as she had said to Nolan, Roy had not yet reached his limit; he could still release more of the Joker he had created from within his heart.
As filming progressed, the members of the crew had seen more and more of Roy's performance. What made Laila happy was that perhaps due to Roy's superb acting leading the way, the performances of the other actors had also improved.
Everyone's performance was so outstanding that in some places, even Laila when she saw it, wanted to secretly applaud.
"Christian, Roy," Laila called the two important characters before the next scene. "The upcoming scene is very important. You are both familiar with the script. What I'm asking for is not to see you two fighting like thugs.
Christian, remember your identity and Batman's personality. The person you cherish the most is in the hands of the enemy, her life or death unknown. You are eager to find her, to save her, your worry for her and your anger towards the Joker gnaw at your heart. I want to see this in your actions and voice."
Christian's face showed contemplation, then he solemnly nodded in understanding.
Laila then turned to Roy. "You've mastered the role of the Joker very well. Next, you will face Batman's anger, but you don't care. You only care about your game. Human life is just a game piece to you, a tool to control the game. You must use it well and then tease your prey, who is being driven nearly crazy by you."
"I understand." Roy smiled, trying to reassure her. However, his face was covered in white paint and the terrifying gaping mouth made that smile look incredibly chilling.
Laila was fine, but a girl who happened to pass by with a prop was scared to the point where she almost threw the prop in her hand.
Seeing the girl hastily running away, Laila glanced at Roy and then waved her hand. "Go get ready."
The next scene was also an important one in the movie, marking the beginning of a game for both the Joker and Batman.
With a command from Laila, the filming officially began.
"Where is she?!" Batman, furious, rushed towards the Joker, grabbing him by the hair. His anger was almost visible, igniting the man who was smiling strangely in front of him.
Roy, playing the Joker, grinned at him, completely unconcerned that he had become a prisoner and not worried at all that he might be torn to pieces by this man who was about to lose his sanity.
"Cut!" Laila suddenly called a halt, then touched her chin, observing the scene that had just been filmed.
Roy and Christian walked over to her. "What's wrong?" They thought the previous shoot had gone quite well. They had been cooperating well these days, usually getting it right on the first try, so why the sudden stop?
