Chapter 607 - Chapter 607 - The Road Ahead (Part 1)

Laila ignored the useless chatter and got to the important message accurately, "You said she was crying? Why?"

"I didn't ask. I thought since she said it's not crying, she probably doesn't want to reveal the reason," Roy shrugged. "You know, we worked together in movies before, and seeing her cry makes me uncomfortable."

Laila nodded, "I see. I'll find out later."

Charlize Theron was an actress she paid close attention to. She knew about Theron's future potential, so she had high expectations for her from the beginning. Theron had played a role in SAW, which was easy to stand out. If she remembered correctly, Theron's character should still be in the ongoing SAW sequels. So, why was she crying?

After leaving Roy, Laila called Theron's agent, "Susan, is Charlize in love?"

"What?" Susan almost dropped her phone, "BOSS, don't scare me. Where did you see her in love?" In an instant, her mind filled with images of photos, hotels, gynecologists, and a series of keywords, along with solutions.

Laila didn't know her imagination had gone through the roof and continued thinking about other possible reasons for Theron's tears. If even her agent didn't know about her love life, then it had nothing to do with a man. If not a man, then was it related to her health?

"Is she unwell?"

Susan shuddered, "BOSS, in which hospital did you see her? Or did you receive some news?" Her first reaction was that the media from the boss's family might have received some information.

"It seems not." Laila rubbed her chin, "Roy saw her crying in the lounge. Do you know the reason?"

Susan was silent for a moment, "BOSS, now I feel like the one who wants to cry is me. Can you please directly tell me the matter next time? Do you know I broke into a cold sweat for a moment?"

Although the company didn't prohibit actors from signing contracts from dating, such matters usually had special arrangements. If even her agent didn't know about her artist's love life, she might be close to losing her job.

Laila was amused by her, "Did I say something scary? Well, I want to know what has happened to her recently. You should remember that I mentioned she would be an important part of our company in the future. I don't want her to be treated unfairly in the company, you know?"

Susan sniffled, touched, "You are undoubtedly the best BOSS in the world. I will follow you for the rest of my life!" With the company's higher treatment than other places, she wanted to stay here and bow down to the boss until she died!

"Get to the point," Laila felt like if she let her continue, she might talk endlessly and include even the stars.

Susan thought for a moment, "I don't know about her crying, and I haven't heard of anything wrong with her recently. If I have to say something, maybe her mood has been low lately."

"For what reason?"

"I might know about this." Susan coughed lightly, and lowered her voice after locking the office door, "Speaking of which, Theron should be considered Roy's senior, right? She entered the industry before Roy, acted in more movies, but achievements..."

Laila understood.

This was indeed a problem.

She knew Theron would have a great future, but the problem was Theron herself didn't know. Seeing everyone around her achieving more than her, how could she not be upset?

"Has she received any scripts recently?"

"Just played a role as a lockpick thief in 'The Italian Job,' it's already finished shooting. BOSS, you also said you have high expectations for her future. I wouldn't casually let her take irrelevant roles. But as you know, in Hollywood, beautiful women are more likely to be cast in vase roles. If she's cast in such a role, wouldn't it be a waste of your efforts to let her play Amanda in 'SAW'?"

That's why professionals are professionals, right? Laila only mentioned a few words to Susan, and she knew how to help plan Theron's future path.

Yes, once labeled as a vase, it would take a hundred times the effort to turn it around. When she dug Theron into the company, she only played some small roles, and the vase label on her wasn't severe. So, relying on the role of Amanda in SAW, she successfully helped Theron get rid of a lot.

"I understand, you're doing well." Laila praised her, "Let her come to my office in the afternoon. I have something to talk to her about."

"Okay, I got it." Susan, who received praise, put down the phone and happily went to find Theron.

Theron, who was receiving acting training downstairs, was surprised when she heard her agent's words, "Does the boss have anything to find me?"

"Don't worry, it must be good news." Susan nudged her arm, "I heard you were crying, and Roy saw it?"

Theron was a bit embarrassed and turned her head to the side, "It's not crying, just something got into my eyes."

Susan thought she was telling nonsense, "Whether it's crying or something got into your eyes, you have to believe the boss. She must have good news for you when she calls you."

"Um." Theron wasn't sure about that.

Mainly because her relationship with Laila wasn't very close, just a director and an actress, boss and employee. Her understanding of her was only based on what others said, and media reports. She had acted in a movie directed by Laila, so she knew that Laila could be quite fierce during filming. Many people had been severely reprimanded.

Of course, many people did indeed grow because of her reprimands. However, the fear of actors towards directors had been deeply embedded in her heart.

In the afternoon, shortly after Laila arrived at the company, Charlize Theron walked into her office after being reported by the secretary.

Seeing the boss sitting behind the desk, flipping through something, Theron couldn't help but feel nervous.

"Sorry." Without waiting for the boss to speak, she apologized first.

"Why apologize?" Laila lifted her head from the documents and smiled, motioning for her to sit across.

"I shouldn't... cry in the lounge..." Charlize turned her head to the side, feeling awkward. She wanted to continue denying that she wasn't crying and saying that something got into her eyes, but facing the boss, all her confidence disappeared. After all, how could the boss, one of the best directors in Hollywood, not see whether she was telling the truth or lying?

Laila put down the folder in her hand and smiled, asking her to sit opposite.

"If anyone should apologize, it should be me."

Charlize was surprised and quickly waved her hand, "No, I didn't mean that. What I meant was..."

She didn't want the boss to have any misunderstandings about her.
