After finishing speaking, he looked at her and said, "Do you know why I signed you? You've been in Hollywood for so long without making a breakthrough. Even your original agent gave up on you. But I saw something worth investing in you! You have looks and talent; you just lack the right mindset. Look, after I helped you change your mindset, you started getting lucky! Remember my words, victory or defeat is in this moment. You must listen to everything I say, understand?"
Elisa nodded vigorously, "I'll listen to you! Just like before!"
Finally, her dream of becoming a star could come true!
On the other side, Roy was currently spending Christmas at Laila's house with his brother, just like before. After coming out of the set, he didn't want to waste any time being with her.
"Want to go watch a movie?" Due to work, he hadn't had much time for dates with Laila. He couldn't even remember the last time they went out together.
"Any good movies out?" Laila teased little William while looking up at him.
"I don't know what's good. Do you have any recommendations?" After spending so much time on the set, he had no idea what movies were currently playing.
Laila thought about the recent releases but found nothing particularly interesting. "Forget it, not interested."
Roy sat down next to her, feeling frustrated, picking up scattered toys from the floor. "Let's have a daughter in the future."
Laila was almost choked by her saliva. What kind of sudden change was this? How did he transition from talking about watching a movie on a date to having a child?
Seeing her shocked expression, Roy casually said, "We're going to get married eventually. What's wrong with wanting a more beautiful, cute, and lovable daughter than a son?"
Laila's mouth twitched a bit, "How do you know we're going to get married? Maybe I'll like someone else before that day comes."
"Impossible." Roy naturally put his hand around her waist.
"You're very confident." Laila really didn't know where his confidence came from.
"You can try it yourself," Roy smirked and was about to kiss her.
Don't think he hadn't noticed her stealing glances at him. Whether she liked his face or his physique, she liked him. Maybe when he roamed the streets before, he hated having such a handsome face, but after meeting her, he felt lucky. If it weren't for his good looks, how could he have been brought to Hollywood by her? How could he have eventually attracted her?
Laila smiled and playfully patted his face, being so close in front of her little brother's laughing face; she didn't have the face to do anything more intimate.
Just then, the phone rang.
"Merry Christmas, Louise."
"Merry Christmas." Louise's voice came through the phone, but her tone couldn't be described as cheerful; there was even some urgency. "Something has happened; can you talk right now?"
"Sure, what's going on?" Laila instinctively sat up straight, pushing little William into Roy's arms.
"You haven't checked Facebook today, right?"
"Not yet. Is there any news?" Laila was multitasking, opening her laptop while watching a movie.
Louise's mood wasn't explained, "Check it yourself, and you'll understand once you see it."
"I got it." Ending the call, Laila opened her Facebook page. Then she saw a trending topic pushed to a high position.
#Please don't blame Roy; I'm willing to take responsibility for all the consequences#
Seeing this title, Laila squinted her eyes, feeling a strange sense of dissonance. Opening the topic, she found that the woman involved in the rumor with Roy was the one who posted it.
Roy was currently looking at the title. However, he didn't immediately catch the twist; he just felt that her way of speaking was somewhat off.
"Let her clarify, what kind of clarification is this? I don't know what happened; she should explain the situation clearly."
"It seems we underestimated her." Laila's half-closed blue eyes were full of cunning.
This woman was quite good at taking advantage of the situation. However, what puzzled her was that when she investigated this actress before, she didn't find her to be so savvy. If she was always so shrewd, why hadn't she become famous until now?
Roy didn't understand, "Underestimated? I'll make a call to let her clarify, what's wrong with that?"
"Let it be." Laila took his phone and threw it onto the sofa behind them. "It might not be so easy to eliminate the impact now."
"Why?" He was even more confused.
"Stupid!" Laila pointed at the replies under Elisa's topic. "Look at what these people are saying."
Roy leaned over the computer, reading line by line. As he read, his face turned green, "What are these people doing? What relationship do I have with that woman!"
"Haven't you understood? Instead of clarifying, that woman is using vague words to let more people speculate about the relationship between you two! I can't believe you took those words as an explanation." That's why she doubted if she had spoiled him too much, making his growth too smooth, to the point where he didn't understand the twists and turns of the entertainment industry.
"The woman named Elisa asked others not to blame you, saying that she is willing to take responsibility for all the consequences of the scandal. The basic idea is that the relationship between you two can't be blamed on you alone, and she is willing to bear all the consequences of this relationship. Look at her other words; every one of them implies that there is indeed something between you two. It's just that she didn't make it explicit."
This approach is very clever. If Roy calls to question her due to her ambiguous words, it would appear as if he is forced under pressure to make her conceal their relationship. That's why she won't allow him to make that call. If she were that woman, she would definitely record his phone call, then portray herself as the tragic heroine being abandoned.
"That bastard! How dare she!" Roy felt nauseated.
The last infidelity news almost ruined him. Now, here came another rumor. Different from the previous setup, this time they did know each other, and they were even in the same crew. How could she so brazenly frame him? Didn't she know how many people knew the real reason they went to the hospital together?
"Damn it! I'm going to find the director. He's the one who told us to go to the hospital. As long as he comes forward as a witness, that woman will be done for!" He angrily exclaimed, reaching for the phone on the sofa, but Laila, grabbing the back of his clothes, pulled him back.
"Why the rush? It's useless to find the director now."
Roy anxiously said, "Why is it useless? He was the one who asked me to take her with me back then!"
