Laila Moran?
Moran?
Moran!
Victor's cigar fell onto the luxurious shaggy carpet.
This must be a joke! It had to be an April Fool's joke! How else could the little girl who had just argued with him in the interrogation room suddenly turn into a Hollywood director and a member of the Moran family?
Being in Hollywood, who wouldn't know who Laila Moran was? Even if people weren't very familiar with her appearance, her name alone was enough to describe her as a household name.
The girl who had just been arguing with him in the interrogation room was Laila Moran. Someone, please tell him that all of this was just a dream, and he hadn't foolishly approached that girl to try and get her coffee shop for free or absurdly attempt to extort tens of thousands of dollars from her!
Dear God! Mother Mary in heaven!
Victor felt like he was going crazy. Just thinking about the words he had said to her and the things he had done moments ago made him want to dig a hole and bury himself in it. When he saw the next scene on the television, cold sweat began to permeate his body.
On the television, reporters were expressing doubt about Laila's words: "Who is Victor? What exactly can he do to help you out of trouble?"
Who is Victor? Everyone was equally curious. Reporters, viewers in front of the television, and people discussing the incident online were all dying of curiosity.
Such a mysterious person appears in the interrogation room, claiming to be able to help Laila Moran out of trouble with just a little money! Just how powerful must this person be to say such things so confidently?
Victor, sitting in front of the television, had beads of sweat forming on his forehead, dropping one by one onto the carpet. He silently prayed that Laila wouldn't reveal his identity. Once his identity was exposed, he would lose face and wouldn't be able to attend the parties and gatherings he usually enjoyed. He would become a laughingstock, a presumptuous fool!
However, it seemed that God was too busy to hear his prayers.
On the television, Laila took out a business card from her pocket and said, "I actually don't know what Mr. Victor does, but luckily, I have his business card." She looked at the small print on the card under the lights from the police station and read, "Victor Real Estate Chairman..."
A collective gasp erupted from the reporters before she even finished reading.
Laila didn't know what Victor Real Estate was all about, but the reporters knew very well. Many of them were entertainment reporters who typically covered similar stories. Victor wasn't famous for his real estate company or his status as a billionaire. What he was most famous for was the speed at which he changed girlfriends and pursued female celebrities.
Normally, a real estate businessman, even one with a billion-dollar fortune, wouldn't attract much attention from entertainment reporters. However, his penchant for getting involved with female celebrities and creating scandals made him a leading figure in some tabloid stories. Today, he might be photographed entering and leaving high-end hotels with one celebrity, and tomorrow, he could be spotted having dinner with another up-and-coming star. In short, his speed at changing girlfriends rivaled that of Leonardo DiCaprio.
While other celebrities tried to maintain their image and keep their relationships low-key, he was different. He didn't hide his true intentions and made serial dating his trademark. Among the second and third-tier female celebrities, the number of those who knew him was countless.
Of course, he had self-awareness and didn't go after first-tier and top-tier female celebrities. In Hollywood, where there were plenty of celebrities with fortunes exceeding his, he only pursued new talents and minor celebrities who wanted to leverage his money or gain fame through his association.
After Laila mentioned "Victor Real Estate," the reporters immediately knew who this Victor was.
However, as they continued to listen, they suddenly realized a crucial question.
"Why did Victor appear in the interrogation room?"
When someone asked Laila this question, she made a gesture of not knowing and said, "I guess my newly purchased coffee shop attracted some attention."
This answer certainly didn't satisfy the reporters. They wanted to hear more juicy details.
But Laila had no chance to say anything more. The chief hurried out of the police station, first expressed his apology to Laila, and then told her that there was still some finishing work that had not been completed and she needed to go in and sign.
So Laila said goodbye to the reporters politely and then followed the chief back to the police station.
The reporters didn't believe the excuse given by the director at all. An innocent person who came out of the police station had to go back to sign? Were they kindergarten children? They must have deliberately taken Laila back because they didn't want more scandals about the police station to be exposed.
They were right. The director personally ran out to seal Laila's mouth. He originally wanted the two detectives who had caused trouble to wipe their own butts, but then he realized that if he really let them do it, they might cause some new trouble.
If she said something that would embarrass the police in front of reporters, he wouldn't be able to do anything as a director. It would be more dignified to just hand in his resignation letter and resign. You should know that there is a national-level live TV broadcast happening outside the door!
But the reporters outside were not happy about him taking Laila away. They also plan to dig out more revelations from Laila's mouth, how can they just let it go?
However, there were still many fewer reporters waiting there, and most of them hurried back to write articles. Breaking the news? Haha, Laila has given enough revelations!
Stupid people only saw Laila being taken back to the police station by the chief, but smart people could see how many of the words she just gave would make the audience excited.
The appearance of a real estate businessman who could effortlessly enter a police station's interrogation room was intriguing enough on its own. Laila had also mentioned that her coffee shop had been targeted by a gang of bikers, leading to a brawl, which had ultimately resulted in everyone being brought back to the police station for processing.
Why did the biker gang suddenly take an interest in a comic cafe? Why did the real estate businessman Victor also show interest in the coffee shop? And why did Laila, who was clearly innocent, invite Victor into the interrogation room for a "deal"?
There were so many angles to explore. Rather than waiting outside the police station, unsure if Laila had already reached an agreement with the police, the reporters decided it was better to investigate what was going on at the coffee shop itself!
