Chapter 422 - Chapter 422 - A Thousand Miles Away

"All right, I'll have Louise and Ovitz discuss it, and then we'll confirm the itinerary."

"But what am I going to perform? I don't speak Chinese," Roy felt a little overwhelmed.

Laila smiled, "Don't worry, it's just singing, you should be fine. Whether you sing in Chinese or not doesn't matter, but if you can, it's even better. We have two months, surely you can learn a song by then?"

Hearing that they had so much time, Roy felt relieved. "No problem. What's the song? Is it a new one?"

"Yes," Laila got up and went back to her room, returning with the sheet music and breakfast. She handed him the sheet music and started eating while saying, "Take a look first, and let me know if you have any questions."

Roy had taken some vocal lessons before singing "Baby," so reading sheet music wasn't a problem for him. To make it easier for him to understand, Laila provided an English translation below the Chinese lyrics.

He hummed a few lines following the sheet music, "A Thousand Miles Away. Is this what we're going to sing?" It felt a bit strange without the context.

Laila nodded with a smile, "How does it sound?"

"It has a unique melody, but it sounds surprisingly good," Roy said, somewhat amazed. He couldn't explain why, but there was something peculiar about the song that made it comfortable to sing, with a very special flavor.

"That's right, it's an Eastern-style melody."

Laila didn't know if this style was popular at the moment, but duets were usually love songs, and she preferred this one over others. First, the style matched Eastern aesthetics, the lyrics were very poetic, and most importantly, it didn't require too much singing skill. She could handle singing such a smooth song, but if there were high notes or difficult vocal runs, she would have to surrender.

"It's a beautiful song," Roy said, looking at her. "You've created another great one." She was always moving forward, but what about him? Besides feeling down and regretful, what had he done? If he continued to be so dejected, he would only drift further away from her, right?

He knew this was an opportunity she had given him. A performance that would be watched by hundreds of millions of people, and everyone would want to be part of it, even if it meant paying a high price.

Furthermore, it was clear that she had been invited, and she could easily create a solo song to captivate the audience. She thought that this was an opportunity for him to make an impression in the East as well. It would be extremely beneficial for his future development in the East.

At this point, he couldn't say what he had done for her, so he needed to use this opportunity to grow quickly!

"Thank you for giving me this opportunity. I won't disappoint you!" he swore.

Laila looked at him somewhat unexpectedly. In her impression, he had always been a somewhat arrogant guy. What kind of spell had Ovitz cast on him to change so much in just a few months?

She didn't know that the only one who could change him was her. Only she could be the catalyst for his transformation.

After the song was chosen, Laila had Louise negotiate the contract for Roy's performance at the Spring Festival Gala. She didn't offer Roy a hefty sum; it was more of a token payment. She couldn't let Ovitz's side "eat too much" given her plans for next year. She knew Ovitz would agree without hesitation.

And indeed, upon learning that Roy would be performing in such a prestigious event in the East, Ovitz immediately agreed, without any mention of payment. He was well aware of the immense impact performing in the East could have on Roy. It was an untapped market of over a billion people and even capturing a fraction, a thousandth, or a ten-thousandth of the population would be a huge success. Money was a small matter; with fame, there would be ample opportunities to earn.

To help Roy learn the Chinese lyrics, Laila recorded her solo performance and provided him with pinyin versions of the lyrics to memorize. Foreigners speaking Chinese often had a peculiar accent, and she didn't want the strange tone to be too obvious. She corrected each word's pronunciation to help Roy sing at his best.

While Roy diligently memorized the lyrics, Laila received a new set of theme park design drafts. This batch of designs was more thoughtful than the ones from a week ago, with unique elements in various details. Laila was quite satisfied, especially with one particular design that caught her eye.

This design seemed to have thoroughly researched the scenes from the book and created a realistic, massive magic academy. Several other famous scenes were also incorporated.

It appeared that the completion schedule had been received, and they divided the entire theme park into several parts.

If they only completed the first part, it would be done by May next year, without affecting the park's opening and providing enough interesting areas for visitors to enjoy.

The remaining parts were separated by a "Quidditch" field, allowing construction to proceed on the other sections without disrupting the park's normal operation.

From several details, it was clear that the designer had thoroughly considered the user's requirements.

"This is it!" After reviewing all the designs, Laila made a decision.

Louise wasn't surprised at all that she chose this one because, in her view, this was the design with the highest investment and the best results once completed. She had become accustomed to Laila's extravagance and knew that as long as the results were good, she wouldn't consider other factors.

"I understand. I'll arrange for the team to contact them." Louise hesitated for a moment. "Laila, I have to say, completing this design in its entirety will probably cost us a lot of money, especially in the later stages. It may even exceed the total cost of the Horror Theme Park. Isn't it too extravagant? If you want to give a gift to your future brother or sister, maybe a room full of diapers and formula would be more appropriate."

"Do you know about Disney parks? Do you think we can use our resources to take a bite out of them?" Laila asked with a raised eyebrow.

Louise gasped, "Are you serious?"

Laila smiled slyly, "What do you think?"

What did she think? She could only think that Laila had already seen the theme park that hadn't been built yet as a place that would still be standing in a few years, or even a decade from now. Perhaps this was her chance to become a boss, while she was only suitable for carrying out orders.

"I know what to do now." Louise thought of the Moran Group behind her. Maybe they could really compete with the big players in the world. Nothing was constant in this world, and it wouldn't be long before they had their place alongside the major Hollywood giants.
