Chapter 405 - Chapter 405 - Sensation

Outside, Roy's departure from Laila's company to join Ovitz's AMG caused a huge sensation. The initial reaction of everyone who saw the news was, "This can't be real, can it?" Everyone knew that his management contract was in Laila's hands, and they were aware of their strong relationship as a couple. So why this sudden change?

Could Roy and Laila's relationship continue after he left her, or had their love really come to an end, leading him to AMG as the newspapers claimed?

With Keira's scandal already fading away, journalists and media outlets, hungry for big news, seized this opportunity to stir up another sensational story. Speculation articles, prophetic pieces, and after-the-fact narratives flooded in.

Some individuals, tracing countless "clues," deduced that there was a possibility of a breakup. For example, why did Laila suddenly go to the East? It wasn't for business cooperation; it was because she had learned about Roy's affair with Keira and needed time to heal from her heartache.

Later, despite her return to support Roy when Keira's scandal erupted, their relationship had completely shattered. Therefore, Roy had switched to AMG.

The articles painted a vivid picture as if they had witnessed everything firsthand. However, not many believed them because Keira had long been deemed a "fraud," and the person involved in the affair wasn't actually Roy but someone who merely resembled him.

Some media outlets predicted that this was just the beginning, and soon the two would turn from love to hate, attacking each other, ultimately both ending up hurt.

The most amusing were the armchair experts who brought up their earlier criticisms of the "relationship" when it was announced. "See, we knew from the start that they weren't a good match, and now they've broken up so quickly!"

As for Laila, she was unfazed by the media circus outside, not bothering to engage. She instructed her bodyguards to forcefully clear a path through the reporters at the company's gates.

Upon returning home, she encountered Claire waiting outside.

"Roy is packing his things," Claire pointed upstairs.

Laila's expression darkened slightly, but she nodded. "I know."

"Laila," Claire stopped her as she was about to head upstairs, "what's really going on between you two? Did that kid really betray you?" She swore that if she heard a definitive answer from Laila, she would rush upstairs and throw the kid off the balcony!

Laila patted her hand with a smile. "Don't worry, it's nothing major, just a minor hiccup. You can think of it as the darkness before dawn."

Claire looked at her in confusion. She didn't understand Laila's meaning, but she could tell Laila wasn't angry. If Roy had truly betrayed her, she would undoubtedly be furious. Since she wasn't, there must be details she didn't know.

"Alright, if you need me, just call," Claire said, still somewhat concerned.

"Okay," Laila replied with a smile and then proceeded upstairs.

Back when they were dealing with Roy's injuries, their bedrooms were conveniently located very close to each other, separated by just one wall. Laila stood in front of his door and saw Abel, who had been obediently packing Roy's belongings.

"Laila, you're back," Abel said, noticing her presence, then glanced at his brother, who had suddenly frozen.

"Abel, I and Roy have something to discuss. Can you help Claire with dinner preparations for now?" Laila asked.

"Sure," Abel agreed without hesitation. He figured that the couple had probably had a lovers' quarrel, and a peaceful conversation was necessary.

Laila entered the room, closed the door, and blocked out all prying eyes and ears.

"You don't need to move out," she leaned against the wall, watching as he continued to pack his clothes.

"AMG has already arranged a place for me to stay. Since we've already broken up, there's no need for us to have any further contact," Roy replied without looking at her, his hands still busy with the packing.

Laila raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Unfortunately, we haven't broken up."

Roy's hands trembled, and he finally turned to look at her with a stern face. "What do you mean?"

"My meaning is simple: you can continue living here with Abel," Laila said with a mischievous smile.

"Are you pitying me?" Roy's cheeks tightened, and there was anger burning in his eyes. He didn't need her sympathy or compassion!

Laila chuckled and countered, "Is there anything about you that I should pity?"

One sentence left Roy speechless. Of course, there was nothing about himself that he needed her pity for! But if he said that, she would undoubtedly retort that she wasn't pitying him either. He had never had the upper hand in their conversations with her, so he decided not to argue anymore and stubbornly focused on packing his clothes.

Laila walked over to his side, emptied the clothes from his suitcase, and said, "I've talked to Ovitz, and he thinks it's better if we 'break up' when we start promoting the new movie."

"New movie! Enough! New movie! New movie! Is everything in your mind about movies? What am I to you? A tool? A toy? A small stone that can be casually thrown away?" Roy grabbed her wrist, pinning her against the wall, and let out a suppressed roar, "Why don't you take a good look at me? Why don't you give me a chance to stand by your side? Why did you so easily cast me aside?"

Laila looked at him in surprise, too shocked to notice the pain in her wrist. She retorted, "When did I cast you aside?" The one who was taken away was him, wasn't it? Why was he turning the tables like this?

"I want to leave. Why didn't you stop me?" Roy's eyes reddened, and his appearance clearly displayed the suppressed pain.

Laila was taken aback by his outburst. "You're pursuing your dreams. What's wrong with that? Life only comes once, and if you waste it, who will give you a second chance?" As she said this, she suddenly felt somewhat embarrassed because she seemed to be the one who had received a second chance from the goddess of fate.

But he hadn't. She knew that his feelings for the company were genuine, and he had probably left because Ovitz had offered him an irresistible condition. In Laila's view, that was a sugar-coated bomb. Her job was to make Roy eat the candy and then return the bomb.

Knowing him well, she was confident that once he got what he wanted over there, all she had to do was call, and he would return to her side. She wasn't worried at all. Since she wasn't worried, why be angry?

Betrayal? Roy was not that kind of person, she knew that better than anyone!
