To promote "Kill Bill," the cast and crew were participating in various events and programs. They took every opportunity to boost the movie's visibility, and it was proving to be a worthwhile endeavor.
The host understood this well. There were moments when he needed to cooperate, but he also knew that he was in control of the show's direction. So, he smiled and asked, "Do you like Hollywood?"
"Of course, I love Hollywood!" Roy laughed heartily. "There are so many lovely people here, and the best part is, they all love me!"
Roy's words elicited screams from the audience, especially from some of the girls who were so excited that tears welled up in their eyes.
Laila, from her close-up view, could clearly see the fans' ecstatic expressions in the audience. The appearance of such enthusiastic fans meant that Roy's popularity was on the rise.
What surprised her even more was Roy's eloquence. In her impression, he had always been a handsome but mischievous young man with a lot of potential. Watching him on TV, she realized that she was no longer up to date with his progress. It seemed that he had learned a lot from the various courses arranged for him, including how to deal with the media and fans.
"Recently, it seems like your boss has run into some trouble?" the host inquired.
Roy shrugged, "Maybe, but I think what might be trouble for others may not necessarily be a problem for her."
"Oh? Why do you say that? You must be aware that there have been many rumors about her in the media recently, and she hasn't come forward to respond. Aren't you worried for her?" The host was genuinely interested in Roy's response.
"Yeah, that just shows that she doesn't consider the current situation a problem. Otherwise, she would have come forward to clarify things a long time ago, right?" Roy smiled. "I can't control how others think, but as long as the boss isn't in a hurry, why should I worry?"
The host seemed a bit unsatisfied with Roy's response. He had hoped for a more dramatic reaction, perhaps some shouting or controversy that could make headlines.
"Some people say that her genius is built on money and manipulation. What do you think about that?" Roy knew that the host was trying to provoke him, so he played along.
"I think those people are just jealous," Roy replied with a grin. "If you want some controversy, there you go!"
The host's eyes lit up. "Are you saying that those who criticize Moran are doing so out of jealousy?"
"Why not?" Roy continued to play along. "Others might not know, but I do. It's not just me; anyone who has been a part of the crew knows that Laila's success is well-deserved. 'Some people only see her success on the surface and have no idea how much effort she has put into it. I think that's the difference between winners and losers."
Listening to his words, Laila couldn't help but think that this guy had quite a sharp tongue. Everyone knew who he was referring to with "some people." It was the woman who had been dumped by her fiancé, a clear reference to her as a loser.
So, in her heart, she silently lit a candle for Faiza, hoping that she wouldn't be too upset after watching this show.
In reality, that young lady did get upset and even smashed Faaris's office in a fit of rage. But that's a story for another time; for now, let's leave it aside.
On-screen, the host looked surprised as he gazed at Roy. "Are you talking about the director Moran that we all know? I've always thought that she could make hundreds of millions at the box office just by filming with a DV camera."
He turned to the audience below and asked loudly, "Do you all remember the movie ' The Blair Witch'?"
"Yes!" the audience replied in unison.
Indeed, the impact of that movie was tremendous. The fact that the director was only eighteen and that the film had a budget of less than a hundred thousand dollars but still grossed three hundred million dollars had been widely reported in the media. Almost everyone knew about it.
The host made a frustrated expression. "I remember it too. I thought I could make my girlfriend scream and jump into my arms, but it turned out the other way around."
The other way around...
Laila and the audience in the studio burst into laughter together. They couldn't help but imagine a big guy screaming and jumping into his girlfriend's arms. But it didn't seem like a bad deal, did it?
Roy also laughed heartily, and even when he laughed, his flawless face remained perfect enough to be used as a desktop wallpaper. It was the kind of beauty that made people envious to the point of not being able to compete.
The host might have thought that way too. Although he was thinking it, he put on an angry face and said, "Is this really funny? This is my show. Either spill your embarrassing stories or I'll kick you out."
Roy innocently shrugged. "Alright, I'll try to come up with an embarrassing story to make you happy. Can I have a few years to prepare?"
"A few years?" The host couldn't hold back his smile anymore and jokingly scolded, "By the time you're ready in a few years, my show might be gone. Are you going to help boost someone else's ratings?"
The playful banter between the two of them had the audience in stitches, and those watching at home were also enjoying a good laugh. As it was getting late, many viewers would probably have trouble falling asleep tonight after watching this show.
"Alright, we've strayed off-topic," the host cleared his throat and put on a serious face. "I get the feeling that Roy has a lot of trust in Director Moran. Is there something between you two?"
Roy knew that if he didn't answer this question carefully, it could easily lead to rumors and entangle Laila. Although he believed that she wouldn't care even if there were rumors, he was a good employee and decided to divert the topic.
After pondering for a moment, he had an idea.
With a flirtatious toss of his hair, which was falling over his forehead, he flashed a toothy smile at the camera. The show's director also cooperated and gave him a close-up shot. The result of having that flawless and handsome face displayed on the screen was that countless women screamed in delight.
Roy put on a look of distress and said playfully, "You see, even these little angels can't resist liking me. Would our boss not like me?"
If he outright denied the host's insinuation, it might lead to gossip about him and Laila. But if he responded with such a self-absorbed and joking manner, no one would take it seriously.
Laila watched as Roy blew kisses to the fans below and couldn't help but be amazed at how much he had grown.
This guy might have been born for Hollywood after all.
