Chapter 229 - Chapter 229 - Flattering with Vigor and Vitality

"Of course not!" Theron firmly stated, "I see a lot in the script. I believe it's going to be the best action movie. And, isn't creating miracles your specialty, Boss? What's stopping you from creating another one?"

Alright, Laila had to admit that she was thoroughly pleased by this flattery, feeling quite elated. "Thank you for your support. I do have confidence myself, and if you're confident as well, let's go and set a new record for an action film!"

Theron nodded emphatically. She never underestimated her boss just because she was younger. She had already witnessed miracles created by her hands more than once. If Laila said it could be done, she had no doubt the new film would indeed break records. She wasn't the only one with this thought. Every person in the company would likely share the same view.

Could a witch's movie fail? That would be more unlikely than suddenly spotting a dinosaur walking down the street!

"Alright, if you have no other tasks, take the next couple of days to rest at home. Try to maintain the best condition. Engage in activities that won't risk injury. The most crucial thing is sleep—even if you can't fall asleep, find a way to. I don't want to see dark circles under your eyes or bruises on your body at the event, understood?"

Laila knew that Theron might be so excited about landing the lead role that she'd have trouble sleeping. So, she was providing her with a preemptive reminder. Bringing a bruised and battered "panda" to such an occasion would surely embarrass her!

Theron felt a bit exposed but nodded in embarrassment, "I'll be mindful of that. I'll head back now."

"Sure." Laila waved her hand and watched as Theron left the office with light steps.

Once the door was closed, Laila reached into a drawer and retrieved the invitation letter from American Express. It looked quite upscale, with a black background and golden letters, containing sincere wording.

Originally, when she received it, she was tempted to throw it into the trash. After all, her grandfather and mother would attend, and she felt indifferent about going herself. But, after Theron's situation, she decided to attend.

Few would be as reluctant as her to attend. After all, it was the world's most exclusive gathering, attended only by the elite. Each person's net worth was measured in billions. Without a substantial fortune, the dream of receiving such an invitation would be a fantasy.

Top-tier members were enthusiastic about these events. This was the essence of a "circle." Being part of this circle provided numerous opportunities to interact with other members. With more friends, there were more opportunities—knowing influential people never hurt.

"Wouldn't it lack grandeur if it's just Theron and me?" Laila tilted her head, pondering for a moment. She recalled that her grandfather and mother would bring along multiple bodyguards and assistants. While she could tag along with them, it might not look very good if she didn't have some people of her own.

Thinking about it, Laila picked up the phone, "Demi, could you come in?"

"Sure, Boss."

Demi's voice responded, and she hurriedly entered the office, clearly in a hurry, "Do you have any instructions?"

"Take a seat." Laila smiled and gestured to the seat opposite her desk.

With a palpating heart, Demi cautiously took a seat, barely perching on the edge of the chair. "Did I make another mistake somewhere?"

Every time she saw Demi act so nervous in front of her, Laila couldn't help but want to laugh. She had never really scolded her, so why was Demi so afraid of her?

"Do you have any plans at the end of the month?"

"N-No!" Demi didn't even have time to check her schedule; it was evident that when Laila asked about the end of the month, it meant she had something in mind for her. Even if she did have something big, she would have to cancel it.

"It's best if you don't have any." Laila handed her the invitation letter. "How about accompanying me to this gathering at the end of the month? The exact timing isn't set yet, but I estimate it won't take more than three to five days."

"You want me to accompany you to this gathering?" Demi's voice rose involuntarily with disbelief as if she couldn't trust her ears.

Even if she was slow, she knew what type of gathering this was supposed to be. While Laila was already an unattainable figure in her eyes, the terrifying part was that everyone attending the event was equally unapproachable. Now Laila was saying she wanted to take her along?

"Boss, is it really okay for me to go?"

She was just a secretary, and until she officially became Laila's secretary, she was merely a decorative item for the previous owner. Could someone like her participate in an event full of elites?

"If you have the time, you can come and take a look. I think it might benefit you in the future as well." Laila had a favorable impression of her. While she initially kept her around for her looks, after arranging courses for her and seeing her work capacity improve, she had to admit that she was indeed putting in effort.

After all, she was a small potential asset. As a boss, how could she not nurture her a little?

However, the blonde secretary didn't think it was that simple. Going to such an event entailed many things. There was a lot to prepare, and if she embarrassed herself in front of those CEOs and tycoons, what would that mean for Laila? Would she lose face because of her?

Seeing her silence for so long and the conflicted expression on her face, Laila couldn't help but burst into laughter, "You don't need to be so dramatic. We're going to a gathering, not on a suicide mission. Nobody's going to come out and eat you."

That's right for you! She was just a small secretary. Demi managed a forced smile, mechanically repeating, "I'll do my best..."

After sending the stiff blonde secretary back to work, Laila started thinking about bringing someone else along. After pondering a bit, maybe bringing Roy was a good idea. He was likely going to be the focus of the company's future development. Seizing the opportunity to introduce him to some big shots seemed like a good plan.

After having lunch and resting for a while, Laila, escorted by her bodyguards, went to the new area of the theme park to check on the progress.

In the original version, "Kill Bill" was set in the border city of El Paso in Texas. However, astute viewers noticed a small loophole: the tree beside the church wasn't the kind of tree found in that region.

It was a minor inconsistency; only those well-versed in botany would notice. But for Laila, she didn't want even a minor flaw to appear in her film.
