Chapter 166 - Chapter 166 - The "Treasure Hunt" Game

For instance, when Laila donated a large sum of money in the company's name or requested not to publicize certain matters, she now understood that Laila wasn't avoiding publicity, but rather handing the "opportunity" of publicity to other media outlets. She allowed them to explore and discover the hidden "secrets" in a treasure hunt-like manner.

In simple terms, it was a treasure hunt game, with the beneficiaries being Laila and Phoenix Films, hidden behind the scenes, as well as the movie "Final Destination"

In Louise's view, John Denver's tragic death was a random accident. If it hadn't been for the fortuitous purchase of his songs for the movie's soundtrack, they would have merely mourned his passing. But through Laila's planning, this "accidental" tragedy became a powerful promotional tool for the movie, which was incredibly unbelievable.

Perhaps to some, using the death of a deceased person for publicity was an unethical act. But in a capitalist society, money ruled everything, and as long as money could be earned, morals and principles could be discarded. Moreover, no one would ever associate this matter with Laila; who would believe that she had already planned the publicity campaign before the plane crash?

Sometimes, Louise wondered if Laila possessed the ability to foresee the future. Otherwise, how could she have thought of using this event to her advantage while everyone else was mourning the death of John Denver? She must have planned it months ahead of time.

Laila flipped through the recent newspapers with a satisfied smile on her face. "Excellent! Let those promoters keep pushing harder. I want to see even greater waves of hype before the movie's release."

"Okay, I'll instruct them accordingly. Also, many media outlets want to interview you, including Entertainment Weekly and NBC."

Everyone in the company knew that Laila disliked being interviewed, but Louise mentioned it because Moran's media outlets had also made the request. Given Laila's personality, she usually tried to take care of the family media, hence the question.

Laila absentmindedly tapped her fingers on the table, a habitual action when she was thinking. After a moment, she said, "Reject all of them. We need to remain silent throughout this matter. If we suddenly respond loudly, it will arouse suspicions of us using it as a publicity stunt. We'll let the fire spread secretly, and it will be enough to draw attention to the movie when it's released."

Louise nodded in understanding: "As for Roy, do you still need him to meet with Robert Downey Jr.?"

"How many times have they met?"

"They've met a few times?"

"Three times. Two dinners and one lunch."

Laila pondered for a moment. "Arrange another meeting in a bar or similar place, capture them playing together from different angles, and take several photos to store. It's best to make it look like they were taken at different locations. That way, we can use them directly when needed without them having to cooperate again."

Louise couldn't help but laugh at the thought of Roy's gloomy expression every time he was asked to meet with Robert. "Alright, I think Roy will be very happy to hear this news."

Having two enemies act like friends and meet repeatedly was undoubtedly a difficult situation for two rebellious and unruly stars like Roy and Robert. Roy had Laila watching him, while Robert had Old Tony pressing down on him, but they managed to successfully downplay their past fight.

Luckily, both of them were talented actors, and they portrayed the reunited friends flawlessly. As for the disgust and anger they might feel behind the scenes, that was something Laila didn't need to worry about.

Louise nodded in understanding. "By the way, how's the situation with Splick Park?"

"We're almost done negotiating. Mr. Wan Ziren is very willing to take over the filming of the SAW sequel and is interested in the script for the second movie." As Louise said this, she had a look of uncertainty, unsure whether she should mention something.

"Go ahead and say it. There's no need for any taboos between us," Laila said, sensing Louise's hesitation.

Louise took a deep breath. "I don't quite understand your reasoning for handing the SAW franchise to Wan Ziren. I believe this movie has great potential, and we can gain a lot from the sequels. Entrusting such an important sequel to an inexperienced director, what if it turns out badly?"

This was a concern that anyone would have. Currently, Wan Ziren was a newcomer among newcomers, with nothing to prove his abilities. SAW was already considered a classic and a future goldmine for Phoenix Films, potentially earning them billions, if not tens of billions.

No matter how you looked at it, Laila's decision was perplexing.

Laila merely smiled faintly, "He is a very talented director. I can sense his abilities from some of the short films he has made. If you're questioning his age, then think about me. Didn't I make a movie at a much younger age? Moreover, compared to him, I haven't received any professional training and didn't have like-minded companions for mutual learning."

"Okay, I have to admit that your words are persuasive." Louise smiled wryly. Although she didn't believe there was another genius like Laila at this time, she couldn't deny that she had near-blind faith in Laila's judgment. Without exceptional foresight, how could Laila always take the lead and make billions for the company in just over a year?

"I'll convey your decision to him. Also, he wants to have a face-to-face meeting with you. How should I respond?"

Laila calculated her recent schedule in her mind. "My work here hasn't been completed yet, so I can't spare time to meet with him for now. How about this? Tell him to wait for me to have some free time, and then I'll invite them for a meal and discuss together."

"I understand," Louise nodded.

"As for the plane crash incident, let those promoters continue to add fuel to the fire and release all the stories we had previously planned. Drip-feed the information day by day. I don't want to see this matter die down before the movie is released."

"Don't worry, I've already given the instructions. I believe it's already in progress. Also, regarding the theme park, should we open up the scenes from the new movie as well?"
