Chapter 19 - His perspective (2)

While Dario positioned himself to carry out the execution two of his knights secured the Viscount to prevent him from thrashing around. With both of hands grasping the sword's handle Dario raised the heavy blade and took aim at the man's neck.

He had carried out countless of beheadings in the name of king before and every last one of them had been flawless but Dario had the feeling that this would not be the case this time. No, this time it was going to be a bloody mess. Even though he had a job to do he needed to vent his frustration somehow.

When he swung his sword he did so with much too little force and the blade ended up not properly cuttting through the Viscount's neck. A strange gurgling noice sounded from the man's throat, perhaps the remnants of his last cry.

The knights continued holding the lifeless body in position so that Dario could pull his sword loose. As the family witnessed the head hanging on by only a thin piece of bloody flesh their faces turned completely white and the son started gagging at the gruesome sight.

Dario could not help but to revel in their fear.

"It seems I haven't properly warmed up. But don't worry, I'm sure the next attempt will go better" he smirked towards the remaining family members and raised the blade once again to properly finish the job.

Despite his anger still running rampant Dario performed the madam's and young Lord's beheadings properly. Their expressions of terror and the fact that they had wet themselves was enough of a consolation to him for now atleast. And even though Amelia had obviously been mistreated by the Ainswoth's they were still her family and she probably would not be happy to find out if they had died horribly; this way Dario could still play the first beheading off as an accident.

"Good job everyone" He spoke to his knights as he cleaned the sword with the hem of his cape. "We should hurry so that we can get to the remaining houses before dawn since we don't want to lose the element of surprise".

He put the sword back in its sheath and rubbed off the blood that had spattered to his face with the back of his han, before turning towards the door to leave the wretched estate.

He paused when he saw Amelia still by the entrance, wearing a strange expression unfitting for the situation.

'Was she watching the entire time?'

As he met her eyes the weird expression turned into a scared one, her eyes widening and her body seeming to freeze up. When she got a hold on herself she spun around and immeadiatly headed out the door. Dario's stomach sank as he saw the red head of hear disappear into the night.

'Fuck!'
