Chereads / Superman in the Multiverse (MHA, DC, and Marvel) / Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - The Girl With The Troublesome Quirk

Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - The Girl With The Troublesome Quirk

On the next school day all my classmates were talking about me, and how I took out a villain with ease. Bakugo just glared at me like I had someone wounded his pride so I ignored him. My close female friends were all over me asking questions about why I was there, why I fought the villain, and about what happened after the cops took me in.

"Did you get to meet All Might!?", Deku shrieked.

"I did, I got to shake his hand.", I said.

"You what!?", Deku said with excitement, "That's so cool!!"

"I even got an autograph for you.", I said showing him the paper I got All Might to sign for him.

Accepting it from me, he immediately fainted on the spot with a blissful smile on his face. Answering questions as they came, Nejire came barreling in demanding I apologize for just leaving her on her doorstep. Looking me over with a fine tooth comb she wanted to ensure that I wasn't injured in anyway.

"I am fine Nejire, I didn't get hurt.", I stated.

"Good, I would have kicked your butt if you were.", she pouted.

"I am sorry, I didn't want you to be in harms way.", I stated.

"You owe me for making me cry!! When I heard you took on the villain alone I thought I was going to faint!", she shouted.

"I am sorry Nejire, I was only doing what I felt was right. Shouldn't you be at school?", I asked.

"I would, but someone destroyed my ride to school!", she said trying to hold back a smile.

"Sorry, he threw it first.", I stated.

"Mm...fine, I forgive you but you owe me a date.", she said.

"A date?!", the other girls screamed, "Why does he owe you one!?"

"Well our dance got cut off last night by the villain.", Nejire stated.

"Oh right...wait that's where you were!?", the girls shouted.

"Well I did tell you I accepted her offer.", I stated.

"You mean you gave up video games for her dance!?", Mina asked like she had been betrayed.

"...one day won't kill you.", I sighed.

"You don't know that!", she argued.

"No one has died from missing a single day of video games Mina.", I said not pointing out she was only jealous.

"Well then you us one for skipping our afternoon hang out.", Momo said with a grin.

"I can do that, one per person.", I said.

"Yes!", Toru said softly so no one would here her.

Quite frequently she forgot I could see her, and that usually happened when she was adjusting her clothing. Several times already she had slapped me when her clothing became a mess from playing tag. When she'd go to fix them she'd see me and assume I looked. Girls are just as crazy as they were on my original world.

"Oh yeah, I will be helping out the police once a week with kids our age that have issues with their Quirks.", I said.

"That's fine.", Ochaco said, "We can focus on projects those days."

"Easy for you to say...", Mina sighed, "Clark has to help me focus."

"Your mother is good at doing that too.", I teased.

"Her method hurts!", Mina said rubbing her butt.

Laughing at that, the teacher came in to start class. On the next Friday I went to the police station to meet the commissioner a short time before I was scheduled to be there. Telling him that my father it was always wise to arrive early the commissioner gave me a smile.

"Your father is absolutely right, shows that you take this seriously.", he said, "Follow me."

Showing me to community space that they used for the children, he motioned over to the children playing soccer. Telling me that all of them had home problems, family problems, or had out right been tossed out I felt bad for the!. They didn't choose how they looked or what Quirks they had yet they were being mistreated because of it. Walking over to them I said hello, but from their reaction you'd have thought I threatened to kill them.

"My name is Clark, I am one of the people here to work with all of you.", I said.

"You mean the only one, the others quit last week.", the boys said, "Himiko Toga chased them off."

Looking over at her, she was sitting by herself looking quite depressed. I assumed right now that she was overwhelmed with her act of maintaining "normal" people standards, and was slowly being worn out. She was also probably feeling the urge to drink people's blood like a vampire due to her Quirk.

"What a shitty way to live.", I thought, "She is like a drug addict that can't ever get relief without her fix. Probably builds up till she can't contain it anymore, and goes bat shit crazy."

Walking over to her I asked if she wanted to play. Taking one look at me she lunged at me with a shiv. Repeatedly trying to poke me all she did was was her weapon.

"Why won't you bleed!?", she shouted.

"You can't penetrate my skin.", I chuckled.

"Are you making fun of me!?", she hissed.

"No, I just think it's cute how your expression looks when your frustrated.", I replied.

Dropping her shiv, she looked me in the eyes with confusion. For her life had been a constant lie, as she always had to walk on eggshells to fit in. The side effect from her Quirk meant she always had the urge to stab people she wanted to make friends with. Whenever she snapped, and did so people looked at her with distain...she never understood why. After the bout of uncontrollable stabbing her parents had all, but cut her off from the family. She had heard them say that she ruined their family image, but she was only doing what she felt made her unique. Up till now no one had stuck around after she stabbed them, but here I was saying she was cute after she tried stabbing me.

"Is he trying to make fun of me...or does he understand me?", she thought.

"My name is Clark Wayne, what's yours?", I asked.

"...Himiko Toga...", she said shyly.

"Is she acting like a girl!?", the other boys gasped.

Glaring at them she sent killing intent towards them causing them to flinch. Patting her on the head I said I would be more than happy to play a game or something with her. Nodding her her head she pointed to a tv with an old game system hooked up too it. Challenging me to a game of Wario Cart, she and I played together the whole time. Trying to stab me several times as we played she seemed to get some relief from the action though she couldn't injure me.

"That has some major patience to be dealing with that.", the officers watching us all through the security camera.

"I am glad we asked him to come. If he keeps her preoccupied we can get other people to socialize with the other kids.", the Commissioner said.

"What should we do about her during the other days she comes?", the cops asked.

"Since he doesn't seem fazed by her, maybe we can get her admitted into his school. It would do her some good to be around others.", the Commissioner said.

"Sir...the last time we did that she sent five kids to the hospital.", the cops stated.

"With him there that won't happen. According to his record he is the one breaking up fights, and maintaining the peace in his school.", the Commissioner said reading my file, "He is top of his class with perfect test scores. Only reason he doesn't test out is because of his parents insistence he be with people his own age. In addition to all of that he is the genius behind the Wayne Tech Medical Bots, that kid is on a whole other level but as far as anyone can see he is just a good kid."

"That why you chose him?", the cops asked.

"The kid took out a dangerous criminal single handedly without sustaining a scratch. He protected civilians, mimized collateral damage, and only used enough force to immobilize the villain. Most kids his age would have fled, but he dove in to help that Hero couple and our brother's in the force.", the Commissioner said, "He's earned my respect, and definitely has others on his side as well."

Kicking her butt again in Wario Cart we both started laughing. Seeing that she was a good kid under that gloomy exterior, I kind of understood what was happening here. I remembered that a Batman villain named Clayface had a mental breakdown when exposed to all the characters he played before getting his powers. My theory was that the more blood Toka consumed the more fragments of the people got mixed in with her mentality. Since Quirks were basically the embodiment of a person, and she would later be able use the Quirks from others whom blood she consumed...I wondered if maybe it was slowly eating away at her mind.

"If that's the case it would explain why she has a twist way of expressing her emotions. Depending on what pieces she gets from people's personalities, it wouldn't surprise anyone that she turned out like this.", I thought pitying her, "She never had a chance to live a normal life. I wonder if there would be a way to adjust her brain chemistry to help cope with her urges so she doesn't need to consume blood or have the urge to stab people. We had medicine for weird urges like that on my original world, maybe I could try recreating them here."

"Something wrong?", she asked.

"It think it's time we went home.", I said motioning to the other kids who were leaving.

Asking if she wanted me to take her home, she looked very depressed again. Stating that she lived alone, I thought she was pulling my leg. Letting Alfred know I was escorting her to her residence, I would call him if I needed a ride home. Flying her to her abode, I realized she wasn't kidding. Her parents had rented her a rundown apartment in a shitty, crime filled neighborhood. Providing only the necessities, she live quite a meager lifestyle.

"This is where I live...isn't it nice?", she said in a pained tone.

"I...I didn't realize you didn't live with your parents. Who takes care of you?", I asked.

"I do...no one visits me except to drop off groceries.", she said gripping her shirt, "I have live here for three years..."

"You mean you were alone on your birthday!?", I gasped.

"Who wants to celebrate a birthday with me? Everyone calls me a monster, or runs away at the sight of me.", she said, "Thanks for taking me me home, you going to be there tomorrow?"

"I only work there on Friday's.", I said feeling rather bad I couldn't pay her more attention.

"Oh...", she said looking even more downcast, "I will see you then...I guess."

This poor girl was like me after my parents died, I felt so alone and hurt that I wanted to crawl into a corner and die. Seeing her reaction to me not being there tomorrow really pained my heart, so I decided to do something about it.

"Hey Himiko, do you want to go on a date tonight?", I asked.

"A date?", she asked, "What's that?"

"Is a special occasion that people that care for each other go on. If you don't mind I'd like to take you on a date now, if that's okay.", I said.

"O...okay.", she said with a beaming smile.

Picking her up Princess Style she asked where we were going. Telling her it was a surprise, I shot over to the Great Barrier Reef just in time to see the sunset. Gasping she looked at the view with sparkling eyes. Taking my time flying overhead, I spotted a pod of dolphins so I got close for her. Seeing us the dolphins put on show that put a beautiful smile on her face. Splashing them with water, they splashed us back making us laugh with excitement.

Flying into Canada next, I showed her the Northern Lights which took our breath away. Having only scene the pictures of the event before I couldn't begin to say how different it looked in person. Setting us down on the snow, Himiko snuggled in close to stay warm. After a short time she decided to start a snowball fight with me. Pelting each other for thirty minutes, we continued on to France where I bought us a meal in Paris. Looking at all the sites and sounds, Toga was taken in by it all. After that we flew over the Great Wall of China then back to her home.

Having taken pictures of the trip to remember it by, she started trying to stab me in a hurry as she looked them over. Giggling she thanked me for the fun time, and asked if we could do something similar next week. Saying I would be more than happy too, I knew many other breath taking places we could go next. Parting ways with her I flew home leaving her alone as she continued looking at her pictures.

The following day I had a date with Ochaco, meeting her at her home she came out wearing a cute sky blue dress. Having been friends for a long time I knew she only wore this dress on special occasions. Her grandmother had given her the dress when she was five, and instead of buying a new one her mother had to modify it as she grew. She didn't complain to her mother about, even though she wished she could get a new one. Times were tough for her family, but she didn't care. She talked about wanting to make a lot of money so her family could retire and not work till the day they died like her grandparents.

"I didn't make you wait, did I?", she asked.

"I just got here.", I lied.

I had been waiting for her over fifteen minutes now, but that's what a guy is supposed to do according my dad.

"Where are we going?", she asked.

"I thought of taking you somewhere fun.", I said, "My dad was telling me about the other day. Mom and him used to go there as kids so I thought I'd take you there?"

"Is it expensive?", she thought knowing how wealthy we were.

"I am paying, it's a date and the man always pay.", I said repeating what both my Dad's told me before.

Nodding her head, I picked her up and took off like a bullet. Flying us to Coney Island Boardwalk, Ochaco was mesmerized by all the lights and games. My father suggested this place because with my Quirks it be easy to win prizes for her, and she wouldn't feel guilty about it.

"A girl like Ochaco is going to be very money conscious. She lives in a family where every penny counts so flashing money around her will make her uncomfortable. Playing games on the Boardwalk is cheap, and you can have a lot of fun.", Thomas said, "Win her a few prizes, take her to eat at one of the food carts, and then buy her a single gift that you think she'd like. It is important that you think about these things."

Thinking back on that my Dad seemed to be reflecting on his experiences here.

"Still though it's not like we are of dating age...who gives their son the idea of going to Coney Island when they live in Japan!", I thought, "Lecturing me about being conservative with my Quirks yet give me ideas like this...ugh."

Starting with the classic knock the tower of milk jars over, I did it first try taking the whole thing down. Unlike my father in his youth I knew these guys rigged the games to ensure they made a profit. Pointing to the giant plush teddy bear, the stall owner winced. Handing the bear over I gave it to Ochaco who stared at it in disbelief. Before I could say a word she held the stuffed animal tightly like it would run away.

"It's so fluffy!!!", she shouted with a giddy laugh.

"Cute.", I thought.

The next place went was a dunk tank. Throwing bean bags at a target the two of us tried to knock the man into the tank as he teased us. Laughing at his insults Ochaco pegged the target, and dropped him on her third throw. Watching splash around made her laugh as her adorable smile came over her face.

After walking around pier for a bit we stopped for a hot dog, and cheese fries. Sharing a drink Ochaco was a bit embarrassed to share a straw, but said nothing to me about it.

"I hope you are having fun, sorry the sun isn't out for you to see.", I said.

"It's fine, I am having a lot of fun!", she said with a smile.

"Well why don't I take you to the Aquarium?", I asked after we finished eating.

Taking her hand, we went to the Aquarium to see all the fish. Having never been to one Ochaco was fascinated with all the different fish in the tanks. Pointing out the sea turtles to me she wrapped herself around my arm not realizing it. Letting her enjoy herself as we walked around, till they closed.

Taking her to several other booths afterwards I showed her have a good time. Spending the few hours of operation left on the Boardwalk together, I flew us back to Japan where we dropped her stuff off then went too finish our date here. Knowing what I wanted to get her I took her to a phone store, and bought her a phone with a good camera on it.

"I...I can't accept something so nice.", she said.

"I want you to have it, you weren't able to take any pictures of our fun today. Since I did I want to send them too your phone so you can have them.", I said pushing the phone into her hand, "Now you can talk with me whenever you want, and can take all the pictures you want. It's important to remember all the precious memories we have."

"Oh...okay.", she said fidgeting around shyly, "Thank you."

"You are very welcome.", I said with a smile, "Let's exchange numbers."

"Okay!!", she said excitedly.

Exchanging numbers she texted me first giggling as she did so. Giving her our other friend's numbers, she sent them texts while we wandered around. Enjoy our time together till our usual Saturday hangout time came we killed time looking at things in the store fronts. Ochaco's birthday was only a month away so I had to find something to get her. Watching her for a reaction for what she wanted the most, her eyes kept glancing at yellow sundress. It wasn't that expensive, but it wasn't like her family had the money to spend on it.

"I see...a dress is it.", I thought, "I can make her one myself with designs my mother would wear. Something nice, that suited her style of casual and comfortable."

Walking back to my home, we ran into a group of thugs who were pestering an elderly shop owner. Telling her to pay her protection money the elderly woman said she couldn't this month because she was broke. Threatening to burn her store down with her in it, I asked Ochaco to call the cops while I intervened. Doing so she gave the dispatcher our location, and told them what was happening. While that was happening the thugs got physical with the elderly woman. Before I intervened a young boy came out shouting at the men to leave his grandmother alone.

"Stop it!!! You're hurting her!!!", he shouted.

"Stay out of this brat!!", one of them shouted going to strike the boy.

Stepping in front of the boy, I took the strike without flinching causing the attacker to fumble backwards. Pushing the others back I made sure the woman and her grandson got inside safely before going for the thugs.

"You think your big assaulting a grandmother and her grandson.", I shouted, "Pick on someone your own size!"

"Since you want to play Hero let's see how tough you are!!", the leader said sending electricity at me.

Tanking the hit I kept walking forward which terrified the man. Grabbing his hands, I started applying pressure till he fell to his knees in pain. Telling his comrades to attack me they all started trying to hit me, but only hurt themselves. Using their leader as a beat stick I started smacking them around till they couldn't move. Sitting on them till the police arrived I told them what they did. Coming out of the store the elderly woman confirmed my story, and the cops immediately arrested them. Tipping their hats to me they took the men down to the station.

"You are so cool!!", the boy said.

"You are cooler for defending your grandma, I am sure she appreciates your hard work.", I said patting the kid on the head.

"Hehe!", he laughed with a big grin.

"Next time though, call the police first.", I said, "Your safety is just as important as hers."

"Okay mister.", he said nodding his head.

"Alright, then you folks have a nice day.", I said vanishing from sight.

Picking up Ochaco, I ran home to meet the others. Getting their just before they arrived, I was surprised to see Toga show up too. Apparently she looked up where I lived, and wanted to come over. Looking at her with concern the other girls were a bit skeptical. Telling them she was my friend, I told them she was a good girl like them.

"Hello.", Toru said.

"Hello to...where are you?", she asked.

"Hehe, my Quirk makes me invisible.", Toru said with a smile, "I can't control it unfortunately."

"Oh...that's kind of cool.", Toga said.

"Nice to meet you!!", Mina said with excitement."

"Yes, it's nice too meet you.", Itsuka said.

"Nice to meet you too...", Toga said shyly running over to me, "Can I...can I come in to play?"

"Of course, we are friends aren't we?", I asked.

"Yes!!", she said with excitement.

Getting up to my room she immediately started trying to stab me as she looked around. Seeing her do so the others got angry, and were about to tell her off before I stopped them.

"It is just a side effect of her Quirk, don't blame her for it.", I said calmly, "She can't help it."

"What about us...she won't stab us will she?", Momo asked.

"Hmm...Toga can I trade your scissors for something else?", I asked.

"Okay.", she said.

Giving her a toy dagger that retracted into the hilt she gave it a few swings. Saying that it worked for her, I looked to the others who approved. Taking a seat, we all started playing games together. A short time later Alfred brought in snacks for us. Seeing the food set out Toga grabbed some meat, and greedily took a bite! Glancing back at her I noticed that she was eating more meat than cheese or crackers. Seeing that made me wonder if she needed more protein and iron to sustain herself since her Quirk literally changed her appearance.

"If that's true...it might be why she started stabbing people in the first place.", I thought, "This requires further investigation, if that is true I may be able to calm her with supliments. In the event that works, she could have a very normal life."

Looking at me with a mouth full of pepperoni, bacon, and bologna she thought I was going to complain, but I said to eat her fill. Thanking me she continued eating without worry. Escorting everyone home later, Ochaco was the last one I dropped off.

"Thank you for taking me out.", she said softly.

"Don't mention it, I had a lot of fun with you at the pier and walking around town.", I said.

"Maybe...maybe when we are in Middle School...would you...would you dance with me?", she asked with a beet red face.

"You know that face should be illegal.", I thought, "You'd break Deku with it, and I can't say no when you look that cute."

Telling her I would be honored she gave me a smile. Before I could turn to leave, she ran up and kissed me on the cheek before running inside. Slamming the door with a cherry red face she ran up to her room, and buried her face in her pillow. Realizing she had done something embracing she gripped her stuff bear tightly as she remembered everything we did. Pulling up her phone she started reviewing the photos I took.

"What happened?", her father asked.

"She was embarrassed, maybe she finally made a move on Clark.", her mother said.

"What he did the moving!?", her dad said.

"Clark isn't that sort of boy, besides even if they did do something I'd rather it be Clark than anyone else.", her mother said.

"No, that is my little girl. I won't allow anyone to tempt her, not even him.", he retorted.

"Keep that up, and you will be sleeping on the couch. Our daughter is growing up, one day she will be of age, and may cross that line. If it's Clark I know he will take responsibility, unlike the other boys he is responsible, well mannered, and treats her well.", she replied.

"I am still going to talk to him!!", he retorted.

"Dear threatening him doesn't have much force behind it...given it's coming from you.", she laughed.

"What's that supposed to mean!?", he shouted.

"The boy threw a school bus like it was nothing. You think your threats will matter to him?", she snickered.

"Gosh...am I ever going to get you on my side?", he asked.

"In regards to those two, no.", she replied with a smile.

The following day was my relatively free day. The girls would be over later afternoon, but in the morning I had time for myself. Todays goal was working on making the metal fabric for my suit. While I had been waiting on them to finish I had tried other materials, but all of them ripped almost immediately. My suit needed to be able to withstand my strength and speed while also withstanding the harsh environments I could be in. Last thing I needed was to visit the sun butt naked...my mother would never let me live that down.

Going down to my lab to start the automated process I design, I sat back and waited for the first samples to be ready. Pulling up the schematics for the Lantern Ring the issue I kept running into was how to power it. The Lantern Corps had lantern shaped rechargers to replenish their power, and the rings held a massive amount of energy themselves. All of this was nice, but I had no idea what it was actually made of. I only knew that the founders found the Green Lantern source in an asteroid field, and that would take a lot of searching...assuming something similar existed here.

The Blue Beatle or Iron Man suits were also alternatives, but they came with their own set of challenges. In this world Quirks came in all varieties meaning there might be someone that can control machines, which would make the suits death traps for the wearer. I could give the suits AI, but I didn't want to create an Adaptoid problem here. Having seen what happens when people play God, I didn't want to see people hurt by my carelessness.

"I guess the chances are slim that they would encounter a Quirk like that. I can't remember anyone having a Quirks like that in the series, but their were a few DC villains that could I think.", I stated, "Why don't I take a look in the Interpool Database, and see what we got."

After completing my secret lab I started infiltrating various world government databases. Information was key to staying ahead of the curve ball, and boy were there curveballs. As of late Interpool had been picking up chatter from people collecting volunteers for some experiment here in Japan. Currently the Japanese government and Interpool were looking into it, but I knew they would find them.

"All for One was smart, he picked a doctor that is so average no one would suspect him. He doesn't stand out, has no record, and appears on the outside to be a model citizen. For Heaven's sake they took him off the list of suspects nearly two days in.", I thought, "I can't go barging in there because he has that place rigged to blow. The moment I break in the lab will go sky high, which is a problem considering all the other labs around his were weapons developments for the government. Half the city would be gone in moments, and I wouldn't be able to stop everyone from being injured or killed."

Putting that aside for now, I looked into what various governments had found out thus far. Most of it was just speculation, but there were a few solid leads. My interference in Japan had put All for One in quite the pickle. As someone that could fight on All Might's level in his eyes he had started moving things in the dark. From what I could tell he had adjusted his Nomu development to suit the changing battlefield.

"For the time being he doesn't realize I healed All Might. In the event Nomu start showing up early All Might, and I can handle them. My concern is I won't know where they will be till they cause a commotion.", I thought, "I could see him attacking any time against me though he will likely target All Might first seeing him as the bigger threat. Father and Mother along with my friends will all be potential targets which only reinforces the need to make defensive gear for them."

For the time being the best option would definitely be a mech suit till I got the power situation figured out. Opening CAD I started drawing up prints for the suits for my parents first. Key points of defense were obviously their heads, and center of mass. Unlike me these suits wouldn't absorb impacts well so I would need to incorporate Med Bots into the suits to heal them. All the joints would need reinforced, and lastly they would need some sort of shielding. It didn't need to be heavy, just enough to take a few hits from a rifle or a superhuman's punch.

"I can miniaturize the reactor we have to make the power sources, but they will still be rather bulky.", I thought looking at how the energy cell would fit in the suit, "Putting it on the back makes it an easy target. Maybe...maybe I could use Carbon Nanotube batteries...yeah! I can make the inner layer Carbon Nanotubes, and just have the suit charge while they are in the home or office. It would require I make wireless power transmitters, but that isn't an issue...just takes time to draw the plans."

Settling on the power solution, I deleted some layers from the suit. Opting to switch force field to the shielding they used in Star Trek, I would have the suit redirect all forms of energy around them, and away from their bodies. For example, a blow to the top of the head would be transferred to the ground beneath their feet without causing them harm. Now someone with immense strength could break that barrier, but at least the first blow would be redirected.

The finalized suits were skin tight, and barely half an inch thick. The inner layer would be a massive Carbon Nano tube battery with wireless charging receivers spread throughout the suit. Like a tank the reactive armor units would be spread out around the outer layer in honeycomb patterns for strength. Topping it off Med Bots would be built in around the armpits and crotch in case the shielding failed and a limb was removed. The Med Bots could immediately stem the flow of blood stopping them from bleeding out.

"Last thing is offense...", I thought, "All of them have Quirks so I guess they could use those to their advantage. Still I feel like those alone aren't enough."

Mulling it around in my head I decided to put some nanomachines around the wrists that would form blades at the wears mental command. It wasn't like it would solve every problem, but it would be enough to buy time till backup arrived. Lastly I added a GPS tracker in case everything failed, and they were taken hostage. Once my test batches of clothing were done I set the machines to start building a prototype of the suit to show my Dad for his approval. I could put all the defense and offensive power I wanted in it...it wouldn't do a damn if they didn't want to wear it.
