Chapter 1 - An Unexpected Reunion

It was the middle of March, nearing the start of High-School for Haruto, but he didn't care. Why? Because, he's a Hikikomorri. To further explain how bad his lifestyle is, let me describe his physical character traits, character traits, room, and hobbies.

Sakagami Haruto (or "Haruto Sakagami" in the western name format) is a 15 year old, teenage, Japanese boy living in Chiba City, in the Chiba prefecture, Japan. He lives in a relatively normal home, a quite modern one to be specific. His family was relatively small, with only three people living at home. He has one younger sister who decided to go to Junior High in Saitama though. She lives in a apartment, a very pricey one to be exact, with her friends as roommates. They were mainly girls who decided to follow the same idea as her. Her name was Rie Sakagami, but we don't really care for Rii-chan here, she's irrelevant to the story.

Anyways, Haruto was skinny, like the cupped noodles he downs for breakfast every morning. He had pale-ish skin and dark-brown long hair, almost covering his black, lifeless eyes. He was a quite lazy person, like most Hikikomorri, but if he has to do something to get what he wants, he starts to work hard towards it. Almost a little to hard though, like his dick when he thinks lewd things about his waifus. As you can tell by the previous sentence, Haruto is a filthy otaku, much like the author of this novel. His room, surprisingly, was clean besides the anime, idol, and game posters, along with a book shelf next to his desk filled with manga and doujinshis that he managed to sneak out of a comiket. He had a bed with a magical-girl blanket and a white pillow. It was to the left of the window, which was on the opposite side of the room's door and entrance. He did have anime figures littered on his desk here and there, but there were quite few.

Now that we're done talking about our wimpy, lazy, useless main character, let's get back to the story and look at what he's doing. Ah, that's right, being an otaku, he'd watch anime. The anime he was watching, was just a normal Love Comedy, Slice of Life, but he was invested in it. Watching it every week as soon as an episode released, buying figures, manga, and the light-novels it was based on. In fact, he was so invested, he got wet-dreams about the waifus in the anime.

"DING DONG!" The store's bell system rang.

Haruto decided to take a little stroll around the quite large Anime-Store. There were your usual things: manga, light-novels, doujinshis, figures, etc. But what Haruto was interested in was a body-pillow (as said before). He finally found the Dakimakura aisle. He took a look around, stared at some lewd art, then went back to focus.

"That's right, I'm here to buy my waifu's body-pillow." He remembered.

Then, a problem came up. Haruto isn't loyal to any of his waifus, and has too many to choose from. And the thing is, the store stocks body-pillows of all his favorite waifus.

"This sucks..." He thought to himself, starting to reconsider his life choices.

Then he just thinks, "Why not buy Hinazuki-chan!" He decided to choose the current airing anime's, in his opinion, "best girl." He takes the Dakimakura to the check-out section. He hands the cashier his cash that he begged for, and went home.

While walking home, someone calls him from behind. "Haruto-kun?"

The voice came from a normal high-school girl. It was familiar.

At first he thought, "maybe someone's just calling their friend. No way someone would talk to a Hikikomorri like me!"

The girl called out to him again. Haruto quickly looked around to see if there was anyone besides him and the girl around. No-one. He gulps, terrified of interacting with a live-human-being.

"I knew it! It is you!" The girl exclaimed as Haruto turned to look at the girl.

"W-Who are you?"

"It's me, your childhood-friend, Fuijinomiya Shoko!"

He tries to remember the name. It sounded familiar, but didn't really ring any bells.

"We used to live in the same neighborhood together back in Yokohama!" The girl explained.

"...…"

"We were also neighbors! We used to play with each other during and after school."

That still didn't help, so he just stared at her.

"Oh, I know!" The girl said quietly to herself.

She started to rummage in her small hand-bag. After a minute or two, she finds a picture. The picture had two kids on it. To the right, a grade-school aged boy, and to the left, a girl about the same age. On the back of the photo, the words "My childhood friend and I," along with Sakagami Haruto (7) and Fujinomiya Shoko (7) 2009" were written.

She showed the photo to Haruto. He took a good look at it, and confirmed that the grade-schooler boy was his younger self. He still couldn't remember much though. He regained only a small-percentage of his memories. Most of them being BIG events leading up to when he moved.

"O-Oh yeah..." He said, partially lying

"You moved away right when we graduated grade-school. I didn't notice until a month later."

"I-I'm sorry that I left without announcing it."

"Oh no, it's not your fault! Anyways, wanna go somewhere?"

Haruto shook his head, but Shoko forced him into a nearby café.

"So, did Yokohama change while I was gone?" Haruto asked akwardly, not wanting to be in the loud café.

*Being a hikikomorri, Haruto usually avoids loud, crowded places. Including Comikets.

"No, not really. The only problem I would say is that these disgusting Anime Otaku keep popping up more and more as I was in Junior-High."

Haruto started to regret asking Fujinomiya that question. It kind of hurt a little.

"So, what's in that bag?" Fujinomiya asked as she started to rest her head on both hands.

"Nothing!"

"Oh come on, tell me. It's fine, we're friends!" Shoko said, starting to lean over the table and grab his bag.

"That was a long time ago!" Haruto said outloud, not knowing he did.

He was starting to get defensive. He pulled the bag closer to himself, and when he did, people started to stare at him. An akward smile appeared on his red face.

"Here's your two iced barley teas, and two pancakes."

Thankfully, the waitress broke the akward silence, and everyone went back to doing what they were doing. The two didn't

"I'm home!" Haruto yelled, usually to remind his parents that they had a son.

"....."

"Maybe they're eating dinner," He thought to himself.

He climbed up the steep fleet of stairs shortly after taking off his shoes. Once he got to his room, he gently settled the body-pillow on to his bed. After a while, he decided to check around the house, especially after noticing how quiet it was. No-one. While looking around, he noticed there was a note on the table. "Eating Out. Food in fridge." He shrugged it off, and went back to his room and decided to study for a bit.

"We're Home!!!" Haruto heard his parents shout.

"Welcome Back!!!" Haruto replied to his parents.

Haruto finished studying, and moved on to reading his new manga that he had just bought recently. It was just an unedited, more detailed version of the anime he's currently watching. He laughed a bit here and there, but was mostly quiet. Actually, that was a lie. He overreacts and cries sometimes, usually over the more "depressing" parts.

"HARUTO!!!!!"

His father came into his room, just slamming the door open. Haruto jumped a little bit.

"Yes...!?" Haruto's face had turned pale.

"Your mother's food! It's completely untouched!"

"....!?"

"Come on you useless waste of money, say something!"

Haruto stopped for a second to think what to say.

"I'm sorry! I was studying and ate earlier."

"You, study? Really?" His father asked, as if he just discovered something completely new.

"Yeah?"

"Oh, I see. Anyways, come down and eat."

"But..."

"Don't care!"

Haruto went down stairs to find that his food was already out from the fridge and warmed up.

"Thanks for the food!" He said, slapping his bony hands together.

He shoved it all in his mouth as fast as he could. He then started choking. His Father started chuckling a little bit, then his Mother gave him a cold stare. He stopped. Well his Father did, unfortunately.

The next day, Haruto did nothing. The only thing worth mentioning was that he was making out with his pillow. How depressing. Later that day, he decided to go outside again. He walked around Chiba City for a while, and did that cliché that every Anime he's watched has. He stared at the "upside-down" monorail. He was mesmerized for about 10 seconds. He visited some bookstores, clothing departments, the bookstore's 18+ (adult) section, and went to eat at MagRonald's. After eating, he went home.

Haruto got home and did his usual things, and went to his room. He pulled on his light's string, and stared at his bed with a frightened expression on his face.

"It's gone..."
