Impressing your in-laws when they're centuries old vampires... Not so great.
My head felt heavy as I slowly opened my eyes. I felt disoriented and confused as I squinted due to the bright lights that hung overhead. I tried to look around but my sight wavered as I slightly moved my head.
'Where am I?'
"I think she's awake... Yeah, she's awake. Enny."
I released a sigh and tried to open my mouth to speak but no words flowed out. I swallowed and tried again with a little more strength but it came out hoarse, barely audible. "Daniel."
Images of what happened before my eyes shut flashed through my head and I sat bolt upright. I was on the ground and the sudden movement made my head spin but was the least of my worries. I quickly surveyed the unfamiliar surroundings as my heart began to hammer in my chest.
