An enchanted convoy of APCs roared down a bumpy dirt road kicking up sand and rocks everywhere. Inside one of the APCs was a tanned boy with sharp eyes and jet-black hair. He would be considered handsome if it was not for the standoffish vibe he constantly oozes out.
In the APC was others around his age, all with dreams of joining the Cadet Academy to become members of the UAF or the Unified Assault Front.
Some students looked anxious while others were excited for the future achievement and honor, they believed they would achieve after they become solidified members of the UAF.
Gear, our main character, yawned as he had not gotten enough sleep the night before due to excessive training making him seem even more unfriendly than he already was. Accompanying the soon to be cadets were a couple of soldiers consisting of a sergeant and several lower enlisted men.
The sergeant had light brown hair and two cat ears sticking out of his helmet. His eyes were sharp just like Gear's. This world has different races of humans that take on animal traits and the sergeant had a more feline trait.
There also more superior trait humans that have mystical beast traits such a having serpent like fangs, a forked tongue as well as shining scales across their body. There are also spirit fox, dragon, and elven traits just to name a phew.
Gear was a rarity, a trait-less human who excelled in physical activities with higher-than-normal stamina. He also had a decent build that put him a bit ahead of some of his other male cadets. The soldiers all touch the side of their helmet where the communication gadget is at.
They were decked out in the latest gear consisting of the new phial sabers and armor just in case the enemies decided to attack them midway as it has happened before.
The sergeant stood up and cleared his voice. "Alright cadets listen up!" He looked around to make sure all eyes were on him. "We're about 5 minutes from the Academy and we got a shit ton of students in these APCs!" He started to pace slowly back and forth in the APC and with his hands behind his back.
"That means that once we stop, all of you will be pushing each other to get from point A to point B." He stopped pacing in front a cadet with unruly hair who looked like he was about to pee his pants.
"You have one job, your first job. Get off this APC and head to that big ass Auditorium here!" He lifted up his arm revealing a mechanical wristwatch that soon pulled up a holographic display of the Academy grounds.
"We will arrive here!" He points towards an area that has a ton of parking spaces for staff and buses. "The Auditorium is here!" He ran his finger across the hologram to a large building in the shape of coliseum.
The APC soon stops as yelling and screaming can be heard on the other side. The sergeant walks over to the door and turns facing a lot of petrified cadets who are probably regretting their life right now. "Get to the Auditorium in less than five minutes or there will be consequences!"
"Yes, sir!" All the cadets sounded off.
He nodded at his men, and they soon opened the door revealing a huge cluster of cadets rushing out of APCs all heading to different parts of the Academy for their orientation. Many soldiers were yelling at cadets who were too slow or those that tripped and fell as well as those around them that didn't help get them up.
Our main character stands up with a motivated glint in his eye that scared most of his fellow cadets.
"GET OFF MY APC!! MOVE MOVE MOVE!" The sergeant grabbed the cadet recruit to him, yanking them up and throwing them out of the APC. The rest of the cadets rushed out of the APC not wanting the same treatment as the one poor cadet.
Gear was finally able to wiggle his way out of the APC taking in the full view of the Cadet Academy and all of its massive buildings and amazing architecture and landscape. Teachers and soldiers were flying through the sky on gadgets and gizmos. Holographic statues of heroes who died in combat were spread across the fields.
"Woah..." He mumbled to himself before shaking his head and quickening his pace to keep up with his fellow cadets. He finally managed to get to the Auditorium rushing in and quickly following the signs to the newcomer's orientation.
Approaching a large room that had rows of chairs and balcony seating, Gear quickly walked down the aisle to the next available row then sat down. He scanned the room and noticed many differences between the cadets.
Some were excited and ready to get their first kill while others were more reserved and nervous about what's to come. He also noticed the different cliques that were beginning to form in the room as cadets quietly spoke with each other to ease their nerves.
His attention was taken by a slightly louder group of beautiful girls who reeked of trouble. They were what one might call gals. They had on more makeup than others due to the lax standards for the UAF.
He noticed a particular one with peach dyed hair worn in a ponytail that reaches down her to her lower back and light pink lipstick that emphasizes her lips. Normally you would think that something like this would not be allowed but humanity is on the decline and the government heavily supports joining the military and procreating.
She turned around and made eye contact with gear before giving a wink and returning to her conversation. A few minutes later the lights began to dim, and the curtains opened revealing a podium and several rows of teachers in fancy military dress uniform sitting quietly.
The sound of high heels clacking on the floor echoed throughout the Auditorium as a beautiful blonde-haired middle-aged woman walked into view and stood behind the Podium.
She took a brief look at all the cadets as if measuring their worth before, straightening the papers on the podium and grabbing the microphone attached to it.
"Hello young ones, I am the head mistress of this academy as such you will address me as so at all times." She began to slowly pace on the stage.
"You have now taken your first steps in grasping at your destiny in the UAF and we will all help you achieve that." She slowly glanced at the hardcore looking teachers who looked like they were ready to rip off the cadet's head.
"I guess I should say, Welcome to the UAF."
