Although they requested Steve to let them free, they knew life out of prison won't be easy for them as convicts are not hired for good jobs.

But Evan and Ethan were ready to suffer outside the prison instead of inside, so they decided to keep their egos aside and beg Steve.
They were prepared to be rejected by Steve but yet they went along with it as Evan believed it is better to try instead of assuming stuff on their own.
When Steve offered them a job, they were more than willing to accept this offer.
