Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

Each cart of the train has 2 seats on each side and 10 rows making a total of 20 passengers for every cart. On top of each side of the seats is an empty slot that can be used as a place to store your baggage. Since there are only 20 seats per cart, they once again split into 2 groups. The first group is Axel, Wyatt, and Fulario with 17 kids, while the other group is on the cart behind them with Sophie, Mirin, and 8 of the kids. Wyatt folds his onesie into a nice, tidy piece of clothes before putting it inside of the slots above their seat.

"Anyways, are you going to tell us now, or what?" Axel asked Wyatt with an excited voice as he stares at Wyatt with a curious look in his eyes and a smile on his face.

"Didn't I already told you that I will do that after we got to District 33?" Wyatt replied as he raises one of his eyebrows. "Besides, this ride will only take seconds to be done so why the rush?" he said in a calm tone as he sits back down on his seat.

"Hahaha, that is true. We shouldn't rush Wyatt right now. He may seem like his usual carefree self but who knows? He might be sweating cold inside," Fulario said as he laughs at both of them for their ridiculous behaviour.

"Ugh... I don't know how to feel about that one..." Wyatt puts on a discomforted look on his face. However, he then feels someone pulling on his shirt from the right side. He then sees a young girl, one that he has seen before, Helena.

"What is it, Helena? Are you scared? Or maybe shy?" Axel asked as he notices the young girl who is tugging on Wyatt's new clothes.

"The seats... Are full" she said in an embarrassed tone as she covers her face by sticking it into Wyatt's clothes.

"She seems to have taken a liking to you, Wyatt. You can sit here with us, we don't mind it, really," Fulario said as he gave a warm smile towards Helena.

"Oh yeah, I forgot to introduce her to you guys. Her name is Helena. I've met here before inside the shop when I was leading one part of the group to buy some snacks and drinks.

"Helena? That's a nice name," Axel said with a cheering tone.

"T-thank you..." she said shyly as she sits down next to Wyatt.

[Notice! Tine Track will begin in around 3 minutes. Don't forget your belongings and papers. A person will be sent to collect the tickets while the Time Track is still going. Please don't forget to keep your tickets near you at all times. Thank you for listening and enjoy the trip]

An announcement came from within the carts, telling them that they'll soon be departing. Wyatt pulls out 20 tickets and holds them in his hands while Mirin holds the other 10 tickets.

"Where and when did you get those tickets, Ms. Mirin?" Sophie asked in a confused tone as she doesn't seem to saw when Wyatt handed some of the tickets to Mirin.

"Oh, Wyatt handed me these just before we separated. The amount is split according to the number of people are with each of us. We have 10 people here so I was given 10 tickets," she explained to Sophie in a calm note.

"Oh, I see now. Alright then," she continues to sit quietly on her seat while swaying back and forth in excitement, can't wait for the Time Track to go.

"Still, I used to think that there's going to be more space per cart. Like, I don't know... around 30 to 40, perhaps?" Axel said in a confused tone.

"Well, if I were to guess, then I'd think that it's because there's not that many people who can afford such an expensive amount of tickets. Even normal residents would have a hard time having that amount of money. They'd need to blow their entire living expenses to get just a single ticket," Wyatt explained as he looks at Axel.

"I see... That does make sense," Axel then seems satisfied with the answer that he got.

[Attention! The Time Track will now begin. Don't forget your belongings and tickets. Our staffs will now check for your tickets so please keep them close to you]

Another announcement came as the door to their cart opens. A total of 6 people came out of the door but 1 stayed and the others continue to move on to the next cart. The people had white and blue attire. The one that is in the same cart with Axel, Wyatt, and Fulario is a man who seems to be in his late twenties. Wyatt then stood up and walks up to him.

"I'm guessing we need to give you the tickets?" he said as he hands over the tickets to him.

"Thank you for your understanding. Have a nice ride," the man said, exiting the cart from the same door that he came through.

"Well, that was easy enough," Axel said in a relieved tone.

Meanwhile, Mirin and Sophie with the other 8 kids on the other cart got a woman who seems to be in his late twenties as well. She wears the same white and blue attire as she slowly walks down the cart. Mirin instinctively stood up and walks up to her and gave her the tickets.

"This is for me, the kid sitting next to me, and the next 8 kids that are with us," Mirin said in an upfront manner.

"Thank you for your understanding. Have a nice ride," she said as she went back from the way she came, passing through Axel's cart as well. Meanwhile, the other 4 walks back the way they came from but they don't bring any tickets with them.

Mirin looked back and thought to herself, "Seems like our group is the only one riding this Time Track. Things seem peaceful for now," she then returns to sit back properly.

[We have arrived at our destination. Dear passengers, please exit the Time Track through the corresponding door located at each cart. Thank you for using the Time Track service]

The doors then opened at the front of Axel's cart. Mirin looked around but doesn't see any door opening so she took the initiative and walks to Axel's cart. There, she sees Axel, Wyatt, and Fulario seated close to each other.

She walks up to Wyatt and asked him, "Hey Wyatt, now what do we.." before she finishes her sentence. She saw that a little girl is hugging Wyatt from the side.

"Mind explaining what you're doing...?" she said with a smile on her face while she cracks her hands seemingly ready to beat up Wyatt.

"Please wait... This is not what it seems to be... I promise you that I did not do anything suspicious," he said in a stuttered way, feeling scared, cold sweat runs down his back.

"Alright now, that's enough. We need to get going first. As for your question, Mirin. No, he did not do what you thought he did," Axel stood up and walked towards the two people having a conflict trying to stop them.

"Well, if you say so, then I have no choice but to trust it. However, if he did try to do something suspicious, then I'll be the first one to teach him some common senses," Mirin said in an upset note.

Wyatt gave out a sigh, "At least let me explain myself before beating me up," he said in a low and scared tone, not wanting to be heard by Mirin.

"Anyways, let us get off this Time Track first. What do we do now, Wyatt?" Axel asked at Wyatt that is now staring at the ground.

"Well, we just need to come out from where we entered which is through that door," he said as he points at the same door they entered through.

"Ok then, let's get the kids together, and then we'll go from there," Fulario suggested as he is now standing behind Axel. They nod to each other as Mirin went back to bring the kids with her while Axel and Fulario wait for her. Wyatt slowly shakes Helena who is still holding close to him.

"Hey, hey, wake up. Are you asleep?" he whispered in a low tone. She didn't even flinch. Feeling disheartened, he shakes her again to try and wake up her as she doesn't seem to move even a bit. She then slowly peeks and looks at him before sticking her face back to his hand.

'How am I supposed to deal with this...?' feeling confused, Wyatt lets out a sigh then stood up slowly. Helena followed along while still holding onto him. Mirin came back with Sophie and the other group of kids behind her.

"Alright now, let us move forward to our initial destination," Wyatt said as he leads the group once more with Helena sticking close to him. Mirin notices that but chooses to keep quiet and stay calm. They walk out of the Time Track to be inside yet another station that is similar to the one where they came from. The only noticeable difference is in the manner and attire of the people around. They seemed more composed and calm, compared to the chaotic bunch that they've seen in the other station. They walk on through, passing through the dense crowd of people towards their destination. People walk past each other as they mind their own business and follow along with their activities and routines.
