Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 : An Emperor's death

It is early 23 BC, and emperor Augustus is on his deathbed in Hispania, after having contracted Typhoid Fever while administering military affairs in the province. He was surrounded by his wife, Livia Drusilla, along with his friend and general, Agrippa, as well as his young heir apparent, Marcellus. Augustus then proclaimed that Marcellus and Agrippa would rule jointly as co-emperors, despite efforts from Livia to have her son, Tiberius, to succeed him instead. Then Augustus died, the first emperor's ashes were then returned to Rome, where it would be kept in the Mausoleum of Augustus.

Soon after the death of her husband, Augustus, Livia then fell ill soon after (most likely due to Typhoid fever as well), and dies. Her death saw the end of the possibility of Tiberius becoming emperor, as well as the end of any old threat against the new emperors.

And so Rome with the death of an emperor, history has changed forever...
