When Eve came home, the sound of a knife repeatedly hitting wood and an unmistakable aura told her that Victor got there even earlier. She smiled as she took down her outside clothes and went to the kitchen.
"A surprise dinner? I thought you were still in the office," she said in leu of greeting.
Victor didn't turn away from the cabbage he was chopping. His hands moved swiftly and methodically, mesmerising Eve with the smoothness of their movements. "It wouldn't have been a surprise otherwise."
A second later, he stopped his actions and looked at Eve with a smile. "I wasn't expecting you so early either."
"Are you complaining?" she asked, walking up closer to him until her chest almost touched his back. "Didn't you keep nagging me about overworking?"
Victor put the knife down and turned around. His hands dropped on Eve's hips and pulled her even closer. When he spoke, his eyes were blazing and his voice rougher than normal. "I am not nagging, Eve."
