The first place Victor brought Eve into was a square, undecorated building two-storey building with several smoking and steaming pipes and lumps of unidentified machinery on top. A small a little rusted metal door with "ONLY FOR EMPLOYEES" written on it in bold red letters served as the only entrance. A square-shouldered guard leaning on the wall next to the door enforced the message.

When they came closer, the guard gave Eve and Victor a measuring glance, his eyes pausing for a second at the hilt of the sword on Eve's belt. Victor was weaponless, as far as Eve knew—his sword was, hopefully, safe inside their locked electrocar. Eve had all the time in the world to rewrite its long ago hacked anti-theft systems to work only with a key again—her being the key.
