Clarissa always liked to take walks around their house and explore everything she could. There was so much to look at both in the ruins and in the wilds, and she liked to explain Robert, who always trailed after her on these excursions, all about the stuff they found.
Beistand, of course, would come with them as well. They weren't allowed to go outside without supervision yet. If it was their mom's choice, Clarissa knew she'd keep them under guard forever, but their dad was pretty sure that he could convince her to let them go at sixteen. No sooner, though—that was his decision on the matter. Clarissa knew better than to protest.
Still, sixteen was still so far away! She was only eight yet. That meant walking around with Beistand, even if he always nagged at them if they did anything even remotely dangerous, much more than their parents ever did.
