The utterly perplexed look at Victor's devastatingly handsome, but stony face, was a rare sight to see. So rare, in fact, that Eve wished she could photograph it because she doubted she will see it again soon.
"Ditch them?" Victor asked. A second rhetorical question today. It's not like he didn't feel her intentions.
Still, Eve nodded, moving the fingers of her outstretched hand in a beckoning gesture. "What's the better way to take control back? I would miss the labs, but I don't need them anymore. And you need your rest. A long, long vacation."
With a corner of her eye, she caught a movement. The people who were stunned by her admission slowly began to move again, and Eve silently urged Victor to hurry with the decision. Despite all her self-sacrificing thoughts before, right now Eve had no desire to let herself be torn apart by a mob. Not that mob, at least.
