Celina put her palms on her ears to stave away the terrible ringing noise that made her bones tremble and her teeth ache.
"Damn, why this thing is so loud?"
Celina could barely hear her voice until the sound abated. Then she grit her teeth, because one ring wouldn't be enough.
"I hope this will at least help you, Xia."
With a long-suffering expression, she pulled the lever again until the bell rang anew. She repeated this five more times, ignoring the horrible noise and hoping that she didn't miss anyone's approach because of it. She didn't know how long it would take for Tobias's guards to come up there.
On the fifth ring, Celina decided she couldn't wait any longer. The ring kept moving without her help by this point. Now Xia needed her to watch her back, so Celina hurried to climb the ladder up.
The noise there was even worse. Another heavy blast of ringing hit Celina like a hammer, and she cringed.
