Chapter 4 - Chapter Four: Staying In

Angie's thought process was interrupted by a loud knock at the door. It's a good thing her tears had already dried up since it meant she could now think clearly.

"It's Tyson. Kindly open up." Tyson called out.

This gave Angie the courage to stand up from where she was seated to go and open the door. Interestingly, her first instinct was to hide under the bed when she heard the knock at the door.

In fact, she was midway to her hiding place thinking her assailants had found her and her holiday was over when the voice stopped her in her tracks. She knew she was becoming paranoid when she went to open the door.

On seeing her, a smile of relief played across Tyson's face as he came in, while informing Angie that he only had a five minutes break. Since Angie was not forthcoming on what had happened earlier, Tyson filled the engulfing awkwardness and silence.

He told Angie tales about his work that day and a few things that had happened that day. This is in addition to gossips going around about who was seeing who. Who was sleeping with who and other little things that cane to mind.

Angie was so amused. She wondered what was going on in Tyson's mind. Wanting to stop him because Angie was neither interested in the people nor knew them, Angie first raised her hand.

However, Tyson continued to speak. She then opened her mouth to inject but no words came out. In the end, Angie only ended up opening and closing her mouth severally like a fish in water.

Not realizing her intent and discomfort, Tyson

even told her about the fracas at the reception when Ashley was there around 7 in the morning. When explaining, Tyson had no idea not the lady in question was the reason for Angie's current state.

It is from him that Angie learnt Ashley had stayed there and around the motel lobby for over an hour. Once outside, she did not leave immediately. She spent approximately another hour just talking to various people on phone.

This prompted Angie to look at her watch. To her surprise, it was already a quarter to 11 a.m. She could not believe how time flew by that fast.

Before leaving, Tyson left Angie with some crucial information. Specifically, he told Angie that the crazy lady (Ashley) intended to post someone outside the motel.

This tidbit of information was overheard by one of the Employees. She in turn shared the information with her colleagues.

Quoting the employee word for word, Tyson stated, "the loud crazy lady said to someone on the phone. Send Jake to keep watch. We have to be thorough just in case the taxi driver did not lie and the receptionist did."

When saying this, Tyson even changed his voice to sound like a woman. He even used hand gestures to drive the point home.

Without waiting for Angie to say anything, Tyson left. This is with a promise to keep watch just in case she needed anything. Specifically, he even specified he would come by right before he left work at 1500 hours.

Angie was still stuck at the information regarding Angie posting someone to keep guard. She was really infuriated. How dare she? As a matter of fact, the other things Tyson talked about were blocked out as noise.

How could her best friend and fiancé hold her prisoner even without being there? Anyway, why she was going along with it was a no brainer. Duh!!! To stay Alive!!

Was money all the two of them really cared about? Or was there something else? Something she (Angie) did not know about.....

What about the moments that they had shared?

Was it all pretense?

How was she going to punish them?

She had to. If not for what they put her through, for her mother who died a very painful death. Angie knew leaving the motel at the moment would definitely jeopardize her safety and security.

However, Angie knew she had to at some point. This is more so if she wanted to find out what was going on in her company. Angie knew she had to come up with a perfect plan on what to do.

More importantly, Angie was fully aware had to get back the control she had lost in the past few days. Marcus and Ashley might have had a head start but they did not know whom they were dealing with.

Or rather, the two did not know the man who had given birth to Angie and raised her the first 18 years of her life. That is after her elder brother decided to go rogue.

To be specific, though initially a favourite and constantly adored by her father, after her brother succumbed to drug abuse, Angie's father, Mr. Donovan Sniper had devoted himself to teaching Angela all there was about managing a multinational company. All Angie knew about running and managing the company was passed down from her father.

The education acquired especially in university was only a compliment to what Angie already knew. To be precise, she had not only achieved a degree and Masters in accounting and finance but also acquired a PHD in business management and administration.

Once Tyson Left, Angie got up, went to her backpack to look for a writing pad and a pen. Out of habit, she had installed in each of her handbags and backpacks a pen and writing pad.

Angie knew anytime anywhere ideas worth pursuing might crop up that she might want to note down for future reference. Once she got the two items, she curled herself on the sofa and started flipping through the TV channels once again.

This time round she was aware of what she was doing. Angie intentionally paused on each channel to catch up on what was going on before moving to the next one. It was while on the news channel that Angie saw something shocking and infuriating at the same time.

Angie found herself hitting the sofa repeatedly out of anger. The glass at the side table she used to take water earlier on did not have any luck at all as she hurled it against the wall and started crying afresh.
